  • Along the east coast of Australia, including Lismore in the NSW Northern Rivers, people are still living with the consequences of the latest wave of climate damage. As floods battered communities, we were stunned by footage of houses underwater while residents escaped down submerged streets in tinnies and canoes. But after the news crews left, residents stayed to face the fallout - homeless, unable to work or go to school, and struggling to rebuild, they rolled up their sleeves and got to work. They helped neighbours and demanded accountability. But they should not have to face this alone. Show your support for survivors of climate damage - vote climate this election.

A reminder that Peter Dutton's response was to start a GoFundMe for flood victims - meanwhile, the Morrison government's $4 billion Emergency Response Fund just sits there, unused.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Thank you for sharing their stories. There is no excuse for the government leaving the community to rebuild. I'm going to donate to Women Up North. Is there a donation link for See Space?

When you build in a flood zone, you get flooded, look at Gympie in Qld. We still have not seen anywhere near the record flood level recorded on the side of our local hall upstream of Gympie, yet the media keep saying that this one is at record levels. In Australia, it has always either flooded or we are in drought, with periods of perfect in between. No offence intended to anyone and I am sorry for your loss and heartbreak.

Its Australian rock paper scissors - drought, fire and flood its how this continent rolls we are just tourists and not the only ones who live here and the wild life is just doing fine bird numbers are exploding around Sydney and the dams are full I have seen both and flood beats fire every time.
