I am new to making shirts and I am learning so much from this. I am going to make a pattern on paper and double check all my measurements before I start cutting fabric, but it's really impressive how the tailor works directly on the fabric and does the calculations as he goes. There are a few times where he draws accurate curves with chalk, on the bias, with two layers of fabric that aren't pinned together. That is very skillful. I feel like this guy could juggle knives.
Nice video But it was still a bit confusing to me Please try to include voice description rather than writing on d fabric Voice description makes online videos like easily understandable Nice work though
"Ready" ..pattern comprise ....human body mesurements (aka your personal mesurements -unique for you only )+ wearable eas (depending on garment is 1/4 inch to 2 inch - depend on type of fabric + seam allowance 1/4 to 5/8 (different are used for side seams on shirt ,Jeans or collars). If you need more details look for Evelyne Wood channel with how to read patterns and 10 things what patterns dobt tell you .
When you cutting yoke you marked 7 inch, neck deep 3 1/4 inch but when you cutting the yoke , you didn't cut at 7 inch marking you cut below 7 inch then how neck deep came 3 1/4 please explain
The tailor is working without a pattern. I'm sure he has made hundreds of shirts before, so he knows how to adjust as he goes. For example, if the back panel of the shirt is slightly too wide for the yoke, you can adjust the back pleats a little to compensate. But there is one part I still don't understand. When he draws the curves for the sleeves and the arm holes in this video, he does it by eye. In fact, he doesn't even draw the curves for the sleeves with chalk. He just does it with the scissors. I think those curves have to be perfect every time, because I can't see how to adjust anything when you sew the sleeves onto the rest of the shirt. I will have to re-watch the video where he assembles the shirt to see if I missed something the first time. I will never make enough shirts in my lifetime to be as good as this guy is, so I can't nail the measurements every time like this. If there isn't some kind of trick when you attach the sleeves to the shirt then I will have to work from paper patterns and measure very, very carefully.
I rewatched the assembly video. He attaches the sleeves to the shoulders before he sews the sleeves closed. (I mean before he does the long seems on the sleeves that make them into tubes.) So that is part of the answer. Those curves where the sleeves attach still have to be almost perfect, though.
