It definitely has been reformulated over the years! I used to wear it back in the early 90’s in my 20’s. It was an absolute floral bomb powerhouse back then. Nowadays, it’s not as long-lasting, a bit of screechiness, and is missing that deep richness of the 90’s version - it was so very intoxicating. 🧡
My math professor wore Poeme.. 15 years ago or even more.. And I was hypnotized.. I couldn't wait til the end of the lesson, to ask her what's she's wearing.. I was in love.. My favorite parfume ever since.. ❤️

Poeme by Lancome Is so romantic, I get so many comments when I wear this,I have great memories wearing&its so perfect,and does last well even when I can't smell it after about 6hours others love it on me&its one of my favs,along with many other perfumes*-) Great review btw.
Fantastic review as always! I too gets the cosmetic-like vibe from it and yes there is a poaaibility of a reformulation because the one I used to have back in the 90's has a voluminous presence. The current ones in the market is a bit tame.
This is my all time favorite. I'm actually wearing this right now an I'm telling you I always get compliments. Just so beautiful and projects wonderfully . Out of all the perfumes that I have and I have a lot this is one of my fave 2nd to that is Jean Paul Gautier. These 2 drive men crazy lol.
Poeme and Classique by JPG was created by the same perfumer. Hence why you probably like them two as they have similar notes. I adore Poeme but the formula is just not the same. It's weak and just smells like alcohol. However, I sprayed it on myself in the office once and for the first in a long time I could smell how beautiful it is but I rarely get this now. What a shame. Just why dis they weaken it?!!!

I also have a Poeme that I love, it's classy, sexy and it lasts ages on my crocodile skin hehehehe. We have a VERY similar taste in fragrances as I have a lot of the same fragrances you have. When Poeme first released, I wore it everyday! It smelled amazing! Quite often, I had people follow me and ask me what I was wearing. I cherished this scent! Stores discontinued it and years later, it returned with a different formula. Now, to me it has a lingering rancid smell. I would love to know the original formula and why they chose to change it. Hi! I have memories of this perfume which I don't know where they come from! and one day (about 20 years ago) there was a girl sitting next to me on the bus and she had a smell that immediately seemed familiar, evoked something, so I had to asked her what she was wearing, she told me Poeme by Lancome. Years later, when I was finally able to affford it, I was trying to find this perfume and they don't me it was discountinued, I was so sad! I just came across it again and I was so happy, but now seeing your comment I see that they changed the formula and I got sad again, I wonder if you know both formulas, would you say it is very different? I would be sad to buy it and then realizing that the smell won't bring me back to those memories I have if it is not the right one (I can only find it online so can't go smell it for myself lol). Anyway, thank you in advance!
The only perfume I wear. Complimented constantly. People know I'm in the building as I leave this gorgeous aroma throughout my work. My hubby bought me the equivalent using ingredients which had the tones of Aqua d Parma at over 100 pounds per bottle. Nothing like it. He was conned by the sales assistant. Honestly I adore this parfam. I would love to find a new perfume. I can't. Love it.

Yes, Poeme is beautiful. Like you I remember Poeme being more intense when it debuted in 1995. However, it is still exquisite. I love Lancome fragrances. I have Tresor and La Vie Est Belle too. I am so happy to have Poeme. The scent is gorgeous. Like you, I adore strong perfumes.
Yes, the color was darker back then and the fragrance was also overwhelming. It can leave yellow-orange stains. Whenever my mother would spray it, the room would smell of it for a whole day. But then she found ange au demon, which I hope you have reviewed. I love both of these perfumes. But it is poeme that was always present during my childhood. I have two bottles, an old one and another I bought now. Maybe it is just me but they also smell different to some extent. Or it can be that the product is just old. It wasn't even stored properly. I found it abandoned in a bag in quite a bad condition, along with her other perfumes, after years of searching for that scent. It is a beautiful perfume and it is sad that she still doesn't care for it. She apparently didn't like the new version for some reason.
Sometimes a go I bought this poems parfum from aerplane, there’s not tax and I really liked a lot, and my hous kipper dropped on the floor and maybe for a month my bathroom smells sooo beautiful. I just loved this parfum.

A adore Poeme and i wore it in 96. Also I love Tresore, Dolce Vita, Allure. Those were perfumes with personality. Now we only have the same sweet water everywere.
I recently finally ordered both Poeme and Tresor. Both had been on my list for quite some time. Do you find one or both of these is very similar to Dior Dolce Vita? I own Dolce Vita and absolutely adore it. Funnily enough, at the time I first became curious about Dolce Vita, I somehow was not entirely sure I would like it very much, so it goes to show how perfume can surprise one. I have yet to try Lutens Feminité du Bois which I have heard is very similar to Dolce Vita (is it?). Back to Poeme and Tresor, though, how do they compare to Dolce Vita or are they comparable at all?? Thanks! ETA: I LOVE Poeme! It is quite different from Dolce Vita. It is a gorgeous fragrance that borders on gourmand but never quite crosses over the line. Heady, feminine and utterly delicous! Sadly, I was totally unimpressed by Tresor. I had very high hopes for Tresor, but this fragrance must be another reformulation.
Sadly yes, Tresor has fallen victim to reformulation…sigh…if you can, do try to find a vintage version from the 90’s/early 2000’s, as it’s absolutely beautiful! They are still to be found on eBay. 🧡
I have mine on now. I've had it since 2006!!!!!😮 Still smells great, but the scent dies out around a couple of hours. It's the only perfume I have as I'm waiting for my new one, Kalemat, to arrive in the mail. It has a very unique, floral ylang ylang vibe. Definitely vintage.
I wanted to ask you since you mentioned the years perfumes came out.....do you know if they changed the formula to the Guerlain Shalimar perfume? I bought mine (which is gone now) in the early 2000's. Does the new one smell a lot different from then?
I think they have. Someone mentioned to me recently to hold on to the bottle that I have. I think it has changed a few times over the years, maybe 3 times?? I do think there is a new NEW formula though. I'm yet to smell it. I'm going to treasure my bottles. :)

I've certainly tried many of em yes, but to be honest I've never been super inspired to review one of em. I really think she has beautiful bottles but the juice inside has always left me a bit underwhelmed. :( *SAD FACE*

So glad to hear you feel that way about the Lempicka, after everything I've read I was completely surprised and underwhelmed. It smells like a very quiet Angel that's had her balls chopped off! It disappears very quickly on me too, just goes to show you can't believe everything you read... Thanks for your opinion, now I don't feel like I'm going mad!!

ouch110 Fragrance Reviews your right the citrus note in that fragrance is so prominent.. Normally orange tends to smell very sharp and crisp but in Armani Code it is so beautifully done.. Very creamy, sweet and soft.. I also didn't bought it yet but I definitely will buy it someday
I got this when it first came out. I love-love-loved it, but it gave me migraines. I didn't want it to go to waste, so I gave it away. I'm wondering if the formulation is now weaker, maybe I could wear it?I think need to try a new bottle!!

I love Poeme, had a large bottle of it in high schools. It smells so rich. I took the mini bus because I attended school outside of my district. The bus driver didn’t appreciate it freshly sprayed in the morning. She said it bothered her allergies but I didn’t give a what and continued to wear it anyway. I didn’t appreciate her cigarette smoking on the bus right before she picked me up so we were even. Lol. I’m longing for it again and it’s on my wish list along with Donna Karen Cashmere Mist. And yes back in the days it was a power house beast. I don’t mind the tone down as long as it still smells the same.
@Arabella Leppard I ended up getting both 😊 Both are still power houses but now we say Diva mode not beast mode because we are ladies not beasts. Lol. Great for winter weather.
I wore this perfume in high school. I love this perfume. It drys down so nice on my skin. My bus driver hated it and asked me not to wear it cause it sparked her allergies (even though the bus smelled like her cigarette smoking before I got on in the morning). Of corse I continued to wear it. It was overly strong back in the day. A 3oz bottle lasted me a very long time.
I can’t stand the bottle, particularly the cap. Yes it does look like a cobra 🐍 I believe it was designed to look like a woman wearing shoulder pads as they were so popular at the time it was released.

Deffo a reformulation. The one from the 90's was much more of a powerhouse. It's still strong though now. I love this one!

The new version is not as good as the old (they never are unfortunately) but the new one is still gorgeous!

They said classique by jean paul gaultier it’s sad that it discontinued , Iwant to buy it .
@vanille I have Classique, and whilst it has a similar scent story, it's far too old for her.
I found out today that it was not discontinued, just production delays, but it's back on the shelves thank God

Yes the vintage Poeme was SO much stronger and long lasting, it's true of most pre-formulated fragrances. It's a shame. :(

A dupe after poeme is essence d.eau by gianfranco ferre...it.s exacly the same perfume but more cheap, and lasts about 4..5 hours.❤️

Maybe it is! I mean, it's still a heady full bodied fragrance but hopefully it will work for you now?

Yes they re-formulating & not that strong anymore

I can’t stand the bottle, particularly the cap. Yes it does look like a cobra 🐍 I believe it was designed to look like a woman wearing shoulder pads as they were so popular at the time it was released.
