I had always figured that the second polarizer had to be lined up perfectly perpendicular to the first one and that it would be set to some special distance. This seems almost too good to be true

I see this is your first time seeing something like this. Polarizing screens are weird, and this actually works. The second polarizer doesn't have to be perfectly in line with the first to work as intended to see what's going on
I think you need to have perfectly perpendicular to get full intensity see 00:33 that it gets dimmer when its not perfectly perpendicular

We two didn't talk much since we usually just focus on our work. One day, as I was using this trick and I opened up dozens of NSFW sites. I was confident that no one would see what I was seeing, but suddenly Ashley got disgusted at me, saying something along with the lines of, "Eww, wtf are you doing. I'm gonna report you to our boss." Yeah pretty nice idea for an escape room tbh. One PC that shows a secret code or clue on a white monitor and have one TV in the room as a prop/diversion/solution (all in one), but no HDMI cable so they cant connect the PC to the TV to see the message.
