Sanjay may or may not know that a similar ships were built as recently as 1938 in the town named Valvettithurai in northern Sri Lanka-and sailed to the USA. It was named Annapoorani. Please see an article in the news paper Sunday Times of Sri Lanka of April 19, 2009.

Sanyal perfectly said that we should have steady growth which would be safer for the future by its compounding effect. We don't need the made rush to 5 or 10 or 25 trillion but we need that economic condition when we can withdraw the free ration and subsidies by generating employment in our rural areas without migration to cities. We dont need corporates like in America but MSMEs which can generate more employment as certified by Sri gurumurty. 😊

Host needs to be more interactive based on the reponse that Mr.Sanyal provides. he should make counter intuitive aruguments based on Mr.Sanyal's response, not simply switch to other question once the question is answered.
Mr Sanyal is truly a great speaker and intellectual. But surely Timesnow could have got a better anchor than Gopalakrishnan to interview him. Gopal is terrible; he just read out the questions given to him and he didn't have the capacity to ask follow up questions. For instance, the complaint against this govt is not of too much billionaires but increasing income inequality and unemployment in large nos. Gopal should have questioned SS on that, with nos. He also let SS away despite accusations of doctored figures. SS glibly said growth is visible all around along with concomitant pollution. Is that a great economist's contribution to prooving govt data's authenticity.
Then why are youth unemployed ??
Compare the number of students graduating in 2024 to that of 2010. You will see sharp increase in numbers. INC kept young people uneducated for long period of time. But now you could see that less educated people are very much employed than graduates because Infrastructure made by BJP in last decade. Earlier there was so small portion of students graduating. So to employ more graduate students we need manufacturing sector to grow which INC don't want.
Now if you are genuine then you can crosscheck me by datasets.

Indian GDP was less than 2Tn USD in 2014, its 4Tn USD. Debt as % of GDP is fairly good

India's economy is improving but commodity prices are doubling to tripling. That means the economy is being improved by doubling or tripling or quadrupling the price of goods. Why is the value of Indian currency decreasing day by day despite the presence of foreign exchange reserves?

Do you have any idea what percentage of people are unemployed? Any idea how much the product costs? The price of every product has increased two to three times.
We have foreign exchange reserves that's why rupee is decreasing.... If RBI sell those dollars into market then rupee will increase.
And it's not that rupee is falling, but dollar is strengthening.
And we need a slightly weak rupee to increase our exports more, and decrease the imports and to get more FDI.
India has 4-5% inflation per year, so yah prices will increase.

Growth during Congress rule was dominated by agricultural growth which has almost stagnated now. Therefore growth during Manmohan Singh was high because the world itself was growing rapidly. So the difference was the same.
