Brodie I love your interviews, they feel like the only ones that actually get into good topics instead of tiptoeing around them.

I had my first experience with that while watching this event last year. I didn't realize they made that sound. Then I started noticing it with my own throws! Pretty cool

The sound of the disk off the tee on hole 6 was cool to hear. I've never watched live, so didn't no you could hear them ripping through the air.

A birdie after a quad or triple is called: Red Rooster
Explanation: Stepping upon the next tee after a quad or triple one has what is called the "red ass" (shoutout to the book Ball Four). The drive is laced with such a fervor that all foliage just gets the F outta way and the basket draws in the put so it does not get wheeled kicked like Edson Barboza vs Terry Etim.

I haven't watched a practice round before (or any live coverage), only highlights videos. It's cool to see the process and the fact that everyone makes bad shots. It's easy to watch a clip and think someone is always perfect
When your on the tee box i call it the diamond format. Back hand shots start from back right and lineup with the front left of the box when you release. Side arm start back left, lineup with front top right of the teebox and when you throw thats where your aiming and releasing this will allow you to throw down the middle every time.
This is my most anticipated tournament of the season apart from Pro Tour bc I'm rooting for Evan Smith to take this one down

I’ve played here, people don’t realize how far of a throw it is off hole 1 to get around those trees 😳
There are a few shots like that on this course.
The grass length on 1 & 2 is a great change. Easy but makes a big difference
Not as easy as you would think. Talked to the grounds crew about how it's a lot more work to maintain, but man is it worth it!
@@BrodieSmithI love this part of you. There are so many moments in your videos where you say you spoke with the TD or the grounds crew about something and they said “X”. This shows it’s not just talk. You really care about the courses and the moving the game forward. It’s a great insight for the fans too! Keep it up!

Do you do practice rounds like this, then play the course over and over in tournament fashion with no extra shots? I assume you do. Wondering if it is a pressure issue. My problem is I try the ace run mentality on holes I should back down to go for par or birdie to get the better score. Choosing when to be aggressive or for the better score would be a great practice round episode.
Its just crazy how far you guys can throw when i shoot +20 at pickard good luck this weekend

Hot take for Brodie…disc golf is its own thing and it’s own vibe. We don’t need it to be exactly like LITTLE BALL GOLF (thanks Ez), but certain things are nice like long grass OB. Let’s focus on the things that matter like improving your finishes, feeling good about your play and hitting your lines cause you’re clearly a talented person who can do it. Stop focusing on the shit that doesn’t matter like ‘is naming a disc someone’s throwing that isn’t a title sponsor for the tournament free advertising’ and it’s not, it’s context because pretty much all golf balls are shaped and made from the same shit, disc golf discs are completely different plastic, shapes and people care, stop stirring the pot and helping sponsors have gripes that makes coverage worse. Kthanx.
PS a “delayed stepper” is a step-through putt. Simplifying your mechanics is a beautiful thing.
Buzzz OS is the only disc I trust 100% for forehand midrange. Sometimes a regular Buzzz for a flip up but it's very rarely necessary

In 2022, these were the FPO numbers for hole 7. Round 1, 1 player out of 48 got to C1 in regulation. Round 2, 5 out of 47. Round 3, 2 out of 46. As Ez said, it plays uphill. I am surprised they didn’t change this hole for FPO this year. It is a terrible hole for scoring separation.

I like the grass length definition too, but couldn't this hurt in some scenarios where you don't get a roll or skip due to the thickness? I guess if your throw was OB, you shouldn't be counting on some ground-play though...
