You should hollow out a tree stump to use as a trash can. Make it look like a tree growing up out of the floor instead of a trash can. You can put a lid on it and have it double as an end table.

    • @joesinakandid528
      @joesinakandid528 Рік тому +2

"...an end table." or a movable seat and if a second, rough thick lid were made and stored under the cabin it could be a movable work bench for heavy duty poundin' on.

Also - cut nails are usually hammered into a board WITH the taper of the nail and the grain of the wood so that the tapered sides of the nail don't separate the wood grain and make it crack, horizontally (in this case).

You should make a water tower at the back of the cabin. You could insulate it well, add some electric heating coils and run it off a passive solar panel so it won’t freeze. Maybe pipe in the air from the peak of the cabin ceiling to help keep it from freezing…

On your 1lb. propane bottles, do you have the 20 lb. tank adapter to fill your 1lb. bottles? Refilling the 1 lb. bottles is much cheaper than buying the bottles.
Easy to do a refill with the adapter. Thread the adapter in the tank, thread bottle on adapter, turn the whole thing upside down, open the tank valve. Wait a minute or two to let the bottle fill. You can hear the flow of propane as it fills. After you can't hear it you wait like 30 seconds or so, close the tank valve, unscrew the bottle and repeat till all your bottle full.

In one day you could have the place done and without the need to remove everything, well you know the drill better than me. Once time becomes more important to you it will come to you. P.s. finish the ceiling, and then insulate the floor and call it a day.

Don't make a double ended cord to back feed power to your cabin. That's asking for a shock.
Think of your cabin as a power tool. Just have a cord connected to the cabin, just like a power tool would. When you want power in the cabin, plug it in.
    ***Warning***
Don't have sensitive electronics plugged in to the solar generator while using power tools also plugged into same device. Here's a video explaining.

Hello Ryan; had to stop the video when you were sitting at that beautiful counter Jackery/Laptop all set up. So when your getting power from the Jackery am I seeing you plugged into the 110 on the Jackery? I just came from Best Buy looking for a way to charge my laptop to Jackery without the need to use the "brick" or the 110 ports loosing power. It has been my understanding that using the inverter alone uses power so to connect direct with out inverter to be a better option.
Best Buy was not helpful because the laptop "Lenovo" seems to not have a way to connect 12 volt to 12 volt. Any thoughts or words of wisdom on the subject? Being off grid as you are at times I am also and wanted to connect to car, RV or Jackery without the need of an inverter. The young guys at Best Buy I could tell had no interest and acted like I was from another planet asking to do such things. Love input from you or any of your followers on the subject. Thanks you are an inspiration to follow.

A couple of things to think about...
One.. the sun is way better at making heat that electricity. Have you thought about making a solar heater for supplemental heat when the sun is out? It would save a lot of propane when the sun is out even if it's ridiculously cold.
Two.. if you make an insulated tank you could keep the water from freezing with a solar heating panel. During extended dark periods a small heat exchanger and a small fire would give you warm water. Sawdust and with some borax to keep out the bugs is cheap insulation and a way to use something you make every day.
Three.. now that the jackery is inside and warm the solar panels can be used year round to save running the generator so much. Just need to run an extra wire through the wall when you run the wire for the generator.
Love the channel. You are living close to my dream.

N then there are people brothers that wanna give you things more things you dont want or need or need repairs before you can use them. Gee thanks brother. I live in an old stick home old electrical outlets you name it I could upgrade but not sure I want to yet either. More problems that need solutions.

Hopefully the bugs didn't move into any of the other wood inside. You should look into getting some Tim-Bor it's a water-soluble borate powder. It kill most wood pest and soaks into the wood so that it keeps working.

I had the same holes in my logs in my log cabin-turned out they were carpenter ants 🐜. Pour borax into the holes in that Y-piece. I’d be reluctant to put it back indoors though.

The reason for the evaporation on the buckets is because the water inside them is cold, which makes the buckets cold, which causes any moisture in the air to collect on the. The bubble wrap, if it is sealed well, may reduce that some. Why not just get them up off the floor?

What's the exchange rate on Ring-coin? With the uncertainty of the economy right now, I am always on the lookout for investments.

I don't know if you are aware but I know what they used to have at harbor freight and I'm sure other places a valve that you can fill your small propane bottles off your larger propane tank.

For the ceiling, marine fabric or perforated marine fabric will work else just use canvas drop cloth.

Why won’t you consider a small wood stove. Just enough to help with the expense incurred for propane. God knows, you generate enough wood waste to run one.

Now while the weather is good consider the following addition to your man cave doorway. ua-cam.com/video/YHH396atVJ0/v-deo.html Also, is there sufficient sunlight on the roof to permanently locate your solar panel array to keep charging your various battery systems?
Great evolution goin on out there. Soon you are going to have a small village with tourists. Cheers
