So happy to hear you and Grant are joining forces! I did find it a little odd that you had total different operations! You two present together on video very well!
Grant began leasing equipment from his father at a younger age and has been farming longer than Laura. Laura also shares/leases equipment her families LEADS farm which is several miles away from Grants or now Grant/Laura's. They don't discuss financial details or locations very much. Makes sense that they would begin to consolidate their operations.
We've been using Goodyear terra tyres here in the UK for around the last 20 years now, they cut compaction a lot when doing ground work and when spraying but if the ground is boggy they sure do burn out clutches fast! It takes us about half a day now to swap wheels from standards to low ground pressures doing it ourselves.
In America they use tires......Do they have to use different air when the tires go to the UK as tyres ? Here the tires start life as black.....is a colour change required to go plow in the UK? Asking for a friend ( mate ) ..... joe
LSW compact sidewall dampens the swaying motion while traveling at high speeds and eliminates power hopping in high-drawbar applications. It also allows for carrying weight at 40 percent lower inflation pressures than a standard competitive tire, reducing soil compaction significantly.
don't quite see how those tires will work with the way you guys farm, but comfort wise they should be somewhat similar to tracks. In Europe this type of tires are normally only used during field preparation (and only in some countries because they make the tractor too wide for what's road legal in some countries, like Germany) and they're run at very low tire pressure to further increase the surface area, not fully inflated like what you got
@@asmrhead1560 which is why they had used that scale to find out the weight distribution at each corner to determine the correct tire pressures for front and back for the best most efficient contact patch with the ground and rolling resistance.
I'm guessing these are just demo tires which will be taken back at the end of the year. And the perfect time of year to start a demo, since all planting and cultivation is done. Also from watching most of Laura's videos, I don't think I've seen Grant doing seed crops, so no male row planting. Technically I think these tires could be used for all but cultivating, unless he uses a pull sprayer and not a self propelled like on Laura's farmland. I'm not sure they will be able to do another McDonald's drive through run with those on though :)
Just want to say I love you guys and your channel! 😊 Nice tires, be interesting to see how you all like them over the long run. I was born and raised in south west Nebraska - little town of McCook. Went to work for Firestone right out of high school. After about a year working at Firestone in the shop I took over running the farm service truck. For the next 10 yrs I traveled all over southern Nebraska and northern Kansas changing every kind of farm tire their was. Got to know a lot of farm families - good people. Seeing the service truck and the guys changing the tires on that tractor brings back a lot of memories - of long days and hard work and meeting some really good people. You both take care and I wish you all the best.
I'm sure that by now you know that when looking at the total weight put on each tire while on the scale will be the same regardless of which tire it is. However the total ground pressure (pounds per square inch) will be much less with the large tires since it distributes the weight over a much larger area of tire contact with the ground. I really like watching you two farm. The technology in these "new" machines is amazing. Thank You.
Hey Laura and Grant just wanted you to know that’s my Company that I work for. I started out in Aurora Coop Tire Center in Aurora and Harvey that’s installing your LSW tires is my co worker. I used to run that service truck now I’m located in Hastings Graham Tire. Enjoy!
A very excited Laura, that is always good to see. I am a bit jealous seeing you hug that tire. A question, where will you be using that tractor, will it be only used in open fields? In your crop fields, the wheels have to be placed a curtain distance apart to go between the rows of crops. Best Wishes from Mike. ❤
Congratulations on that beautiful first purchase of the best tractor on the planet in my opinion John Deere you can't settle for anything better than the best Beth and I are so proud of you we're praying for you guys that the Lord will just keep showering His blessings on you all right blessings from Martinsville Indiana can't wait for the next video
Love this video and thanks for the shout out for the company that I work for Titan. I actually work for the wheel manufacturing part of the company but I love seeing you guys excited about using the LSW product. My wife and I love watching your channel and I’m not sure but I think I have the same hat that Grant was wearing in the video.
Congratulations on the new/old tractor. Can't wait to see how harvest works since you planted the corn in rows set for the old tractor tire widths how it will cut them without running over the some rows or parts of rows.
Looks awesome and should be excellent for some operations, such as the grain cart, but you mentioned possibly going with those on all your field tractors. How would you plant and tend to the crop fields with those on? Just curious about all the changes to methods if that were the case. Enjoy your "beast tractor"!!
The cost of farming today is tremendous. Unfortunately most people have no idea. I admire you young people who are willing to take the risk. Living in a rural area and knowing many farm families whose children have decided to not continue is heartbreaking. Bless you in your decisions.
Thanks for putting food in our bellies!!!! Congrats on the purchase. Very much deserved and earned. I have been here since day one...what an amazing ride so far!!!!!
Makes the whole tractor look a mean machine and looks completely different, they look awesome and I'm excited to see it in operation, great video really enjoyed it
As an English farmer I can tell you not only does the tractor look a million times better on big tyres it will be so much kinder to your soil enjoy your purchase cheers
As soon as I saw the title of this video, I knew that Cole must have introduced you to Scott Sloan of Titan tires at the Farm Progress show?! LOL! Did he bring pizza? They do make awesome tires! I bought a new set of them for my ATV after watching Cole's video! Flotation tires that really grip too! Now you have a tractor that can easily pull Grant and Cale's 5 ton trucks out of the river bed the next time that they get stuck! Titan needs to make something like these for pivots that get stuck in the mud! Love your enthusiasm over these tires, Laura! :-) Edited to add, I didn't see the video that you made at the Husker Harvest farm show (until now) and met Scott Sloan there as you were so enthused about those BIG tires on that JD tractor!
I always thought the rowcrop tires looked to small. When we were still farming, we had 2 2470 Case 4WD. We had 24.1 on them, if memory serves me. We didn't use them for between the rows stuff, had smaller tractors for that. they were the horses, the tillage (primarily chiesel plow, 30' disc). They weren't as big as those, but you will notice the difference in the floatation.
Laura, I am glad that you and your husband care about the work for our country you guys are the backbone of our country I am happy about the work that you both do keep it up, sweetheart, I am proud of you both
A couple thoughts here. This tractor is done with row crop farming with the LSW tires but maybe this would be a good time to get away from cultivating, hilling, etc. Think of the cost savings on fuel alone and the time you could spend working on other revenue producing activities...
That is amazing. You know I feel this is only fitting that the folks I view as the pioneers of the next generation of farmers, do something this incredible. Since I met ya'll online I've learned so much more about farming, something I thought I would be in back in the 70's. And bringing it literally into everyone's computer, that's just icing on the cake. 'Perciate you guys putting in the work, and love, too bring these videos to the public
Goodness gracious! Those big monster trucks that perform tricks have nothing on you! Your tractor just became the star ⭐️ of the farm! Well done, sweet farm girl! You have always been MY star 💫 Love ❤️ you, Grammy 😀
What a great picture of excitement, it did not just light up your face, but your whole being. I trust this will be a marker for an even better set of crop figures to come.
A farmer in the Fens in England told me how he adds water to the air in the tyres to improve traction in soft wet conditions, works with skinny tyres too, and truck tyres.🕊️
Congrats on the new tractor Laura and Grant!...love the tires...I laughed when Grant 1st saw the tires...the young farmer in him excited....but the experienced farmer in him...having him somewhat apprehensive and skeptical....I will be looking forward to seeing the pros and cons of the big tires....great video👍
Those old tires looked, well, old; sun-checked. It was likely a good idea to replace them anyway. It'll be interesting to see how the LSW's work out. The 8355 will be a good tillage/planting tractor now, but not so good for cultivating.

I knew it. After last nights video we watched, I knew you would get tires. You had that look in your eyes. Great video. Keep it between the rows now for sure.
I was looking down the comments to see someone ask about where you bought the tractor from and I'm first here! SO an 8335R I've seen in on both Lauras and Grants farm but is this a "new to you" tractor or is it a buy from one of your parent's farms? Your exitement about the tires is hillarious and you really shine! Contaigious :)
Congratulations on you young ones first tractor! Remember that 4055 I first got so enjoy ! Enjoy seeing you two enjoy what you do! Your dads a good one too ms Laura! God bless
Laura, a woman that gets excited about tractor tires is a rare find. Girl, you are something else. Your momma and daddy raised you right. Congrats, what a cool, beautiful tractor. I love it !
The advantages: more tire touching the ground, so you have the weight of the tractor spread out over a wider area and it won't compact the soil as much. You should be using less fuel as well. I couldn't catch the new weight, but the whole rotating assembly should be a good bit lighter. Metal wheels weigh a lot. If the weight of the rotating assembly is lower, it takes less power and thereby fuel to move. The negatives: Cost. I'm sure that between tires, wheels and install, this isn't cheap. Also tire replacement is more expensive. The other problem is if you get a flat tire. You can't drive anywhere without completely ruining the tire. So it needs fixed right where it is no matter how inconvenient. With duals, you would be able to at least be able to move it to the end of the field or back to the farm to fix it. Hope all that makes sense.
Round here, North Central South Dakota and South Cental North Dakota, many farmers are going the way of those type of tires. Good on ya for putting them on. You won't be disappointed.
Gotta be something towards compaction... since in Nebraska the soil is usually blowing in the air and wind erosion rarely happens.. turning radius has now double... wonder what the price tag was for these? $10,000per tire.

You could crawl in and take a nap in that wheel !! removing Very Tight lug nuts, is now fairly easy with a doubler nut remover. it just douubles or triples your input like you weigh like 110, and you stand on a 1 foot breaker bar and thats 110, but with a doubler its 220 to 250 lbs force. It works going on and off and small enough to fit in the tool box. Very Handy for a farm. Would be great for stuck/ flat tires on the field UMC
Excited for you both on your new acquisition. Would have enjoyed seeing you pull Grant's former River Cruiser out of the river bed with this MONSTA JD!
Hey! No more of the cute Laura Farms logo with the tractor/planter and the combine with sun arcing across the sky? The sounds of rocks and debris raining down as they pass? Aww. :-( I have always loved that! BTW, I do love the UMC promo with the bluegrass mandolin and banjo music! Caz gear is gone now?
Looks great but u have to use them properly ;) Take a look at the tire - airpressure - chart and try to keep the pressure as low as your total weight lets u go. These floatation tires need low pressure to do their magic ... thats what they got designed for. In Europe we use them for planting, slurry/dung spreading, cultivating etc ... on the fields they run pressures as low as 0.6-0.8 bars.
Compaction is a huge deal in corn fields. You don't see it much from the ground or in a tractor, but when flying over it's easy to see and follow every single track through those fields since it was plowed last, as the corn is just a little bit shorter when they grow in the tracks. It's most visible when a tractor drives across rows before they're planted or makes a turn, but you can see the tracks following the planted rows too. It's possible to discern ATV and UTV tracks through them as well.
Man, those are some massive tires. Looking forward to seeing them in the fields. Who needs air-ride suspension when you have floater tires like these. It was so awesome to see Laura hugging the tires, so funny.
Gotta be the most hilarious video I've seen. Laura obsessing over monster tractor tires. It went from a horse to T Rex in no time. I'm excited to see what's next. Keep it up.
Amazing Addition, and can always swap if needed! Congrats and I think a smart move for you all! GOD BLESS YOU BOTH WITH A SAFE AND PRODUCTIVE HARVEST!!! Makes the Ole Deere John look BADASS! Now let the RUBBER, meet the Soil, and the Floation Rotation Begin! ❤❤❤❤💛💛💚💚💛💛💚💚💛💚💚🎉🎉🎊🎊🎈🎈 Very Happy for You All, Best of Luck Kiddos! 💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️
Some of us from the east coast are intrigued with the scale, size and business side of the industry in the "big" agriculture part of our country. My wife and I drove past a "large" farm in South Carolina and I comment that "Laura and Grant would laugh at those pivots" They were three sections, maybe 250 feet total, about 6' tall. I suspect they were bean fields. Anyway it's good to see and learn outside of our own little "boxes".
I do believe that tractor is their planting tractor. I do not believe that black extension is for duals. They have big yellow tanks for each side of the tractor. The tanks are supported at two points. One support is located in front of the steps and bolted to tractor frame. The other support bolts to the black extension coming out from rear wheels. This support has a bearing in it with around a 3 ft. round shaft attached. The round shaft will slide into a mounting hole in the tank frame. This shaft will support the back part of the tank as the rear wheel rotates. Go back about 5 months, and watch Laura's video called "Transforming A Tractor." It should clear up what I am talking about.
So happy to hear you and Grant are joining forces! I did find it a little odd that you had total different operations! You two present together on video very well!

Those tires need their own theme music when the tractor is moving.
Agreed!!!

Spinal Tap's "Big Bottoms" song comes to mind? That knarly/ominous bass line sounds BIG!

Take a look at the tire - airpressure - chart and try to keep the pressure as low as your total weight lets u go.
Congratulations you have been randomly selected among my lucky winner's dm via the digity above to claim your prize 👆👆🎁...
Congratulations on the tractor purchase and trying out the monster tires!!!
Wow looks just amazing. Much better than before
Man, those are some massive tires. Looking forward to seeing them in the fields. Who needs air-ride suspension when you have floater tires like these. It was so awesome to see Laura hugging the tires, so funny.
The word I'd used was narrah!! That tractor looks very narrah before the big ole tire change!! Good luck kids!!
Nice! In Norway these tires are normal 😊 its perfect on wet ground. Often we have them in dually also! Thats asm!

I used to put them on when I worked for graham tire in my home town in south dakota they give you a very nice ride and they float over mud
Titan Tire really gets around, looks like the same people we saw on Cornstar.
Gotta be the most hilarious video I've seen.
Laura obsessing over monster tractor tires.
It went from a horse to T Rex in no time.
I'm excited to see what's next. Keep it up.
I have seen these type of tires on many European tractors. Same with front end tracks. Great videos!
The perfect vehicle to service irrigation pumps and wander out on the river banks. Sherp USA makes them and these vehicles will do this and much more.
"Omg congratulations on the purchase and modifications, gonna need some gearing for those monsters 😆 🤣 😂

OH,you know what would be even more cool sights?
DOUBLE LSW's on back!
Stellar Mfg is in Garner, Iowa. They make commercial truck bodies for all sorts of applications. Great company!
Harvey does great work! He, or guys he's trained, do most of our off road tires at work.
Nice tires! Looks great!
Thanks for sharing!
Happy for you two... So happy that you are working closer together farming... The American Dream following your families' dreams..
I knew you were going to do that after seeing you drooling over them at the farm show, good luck! Have fun!👍👌😉😊
I really like the fact you retained the dual rear spindles so you can run of those tires on each side in the rear! Sick!
Monster Tractor! Lol Yall and Cole The Corn Star! Congrats on yalls purchase! Enjoy!
