How do you not know this song or who K.D. Lang is? 30 years ago nobody knew who she was. She sent a tape to Roy and said, I know you don’t let people do your songs because they can’t do them justice. I hope after you hear me doing Crying, you will give me your permission to do it. Roy called her and said, I want to record it with you! Then he called the The JohnnyCarson show and said he wanted to come on and of course they said, YES SIR! I watched that night as Roy introduced the world to K.D. Lang. They sang the duet and career took off sky high and the next month EVERYONE knew who she was.

Regardless, I enjoy and love and appreciate
She got a 4 minute standing ovation
k.d. Is a girl not a guy, Canadian treasure. Roy Orbison heard her sing and asked her to do a duet with him of his hit Crying. After his death she was asked to sing Crying as a tribute. You should hear her Hallelujah sung at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
She is the greatest female vocal talent of the past 40 years..... Karen Carpenter / Linda Rondsadt / k. d . Lang .... My top 3 female vocalists. PS yes she a lesbian and at times looks a bit masculine but much more so as she took on Roy's black hair and suit look)
Lovely!!
@@MaddyReactions She used to call her music style Torch and Twang....She would have been massively more popular if not lesbian from Canada who started in county music .. Roy was a big fan when she was barely known and does this song with her as a duet which allowing her to be excepted in Nashville . Her version of Leonards Cohen's Hallelujah at the 2010 winter olympics is one of the greatest live performances ever and after hearing it Leonard said it was the definitive rendition. ua-cam.com/video/tcOQSk_cMO0/v-deo.html Her most popular pop song is Constant Craving and if you want to see her girly girly alter ego. check out Shadowland ua-cam.com/video/dY-_m6vUTUY/v-deo.html

Maddy,
He is a she love her voice !!!!
“She” is incredible ❤️🇨🇦
Actually Maddie. KD. IS more of a Female, than you or me, and soooo many other women. She has her own style of dress, very comfy and modest. Unlike the wannabe singers. That don't even look dressed, KD. has the Voice, Charisma, Presentation, She could sing in a plastic bag wrap. Will NOT change her Voice. She is pure Genius, also such a beautiful Human, Being. Has been standing up for gay rights, and Animal welfare. Also our Planet. She is Wonderful. Makes me proud to be a woman. Luv KD. 🇮🇪💚🍀
kd broke into C&W with that voice like a bright shining star but it turned out her non-traditional gender identity was not a great fit for that scene so she went her own way. Still one of the best voices ever.
Oooh
@@MaddyReactions Yeah, when she broke in she looked like the farmer's daughter with the pigtails, cutoff jeans, cowboy boots and the whole deal. Once she changed her look it was all over for the HeeHaw fans. I recall one trio with Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton and her looking like a man, it was too funny.
This was Great, just as good, if not better than the original, which is hard to do with Roy Orbison's voice. You should hear Roy singing Crying on SNL
Wow 😮
K.D. at one time was a country and western singer and was far and away the best singer with all the hits and they turned her down for a single nomination due to being a lesbian....
I wish it would save your comments for the end and listen to the entire song instead of stopping it otherwise, I think you’re very seem to be very nice person. I’m just giving my opinion for whatever it’s worth.
Surprised you didn't do some research on this. K D is a woman. She loved Patsy Cline and she has that cry in her voice, which you are hearing as country. By the way, no one interrupts K D when she sings.
Canadian Country singer her name is Katherine Dawn
KD is from Consort AB
like everyone else said KD Lang is a she, not a he, She is Canada's sweetheart and the best vocalist there is.
She has a great voice!!!
AGREED!
Fascinating..
Yes!
Little Rock, Arkansas USA. she is from Canada and was greatly influenced by Patsy Cline. Listen to some of her early work on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. It is more country. She won a Grammy as a country Artist.
Her first band was the Reclines in honour of Patsy.
This is not Roy Orbison.She...not he is singing in tribute of his passing. He actually boosted her career when they sang a duet of" Crying"
Daddy maybe, but he??!!?? kd lang is lovely in every way.
Do people not do a quick google before reactions? then you'd know a bit about kd...and that this is a very famous song by Roy Orbison...this performance is a tribute to Roy after his pa
Ssing.
I do not, that’s more along the lines of a review / video essay. This video is a first reaction, not a review / video essay.
Thank you for your feedback!
Her and Jeff Healey are the best two things to come out of Canada.
Wayne Gretzky ?
@@sitbone3 Not even in the top ten.
She is magnificent! Please check out HER rendition of H allelujah! You will be astounded!
I wish someone would pay you to hear Roy Orbison.
Ummmm...HE is a SHE!!! So so so SOOOOO talented. No little whisper voice there. Pure power and talent.
SHE! Katherine Dawn Lang (as, no doubt, many have told you!)
Kd LANG IS A FEMALE. she had an exceptional voice!!
She!
If you enjoyed this. You should check her performance at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver
❤KD
We can always make mistakes I am sure she now realises. At least she was captivated😂
Maddy, Maddy Maddy...you likely know by now...she is an amazing singer...
SHE is actually Kathryn Dawn (K.D.) Lang!!!! yw...
She is a torch and twang singer
Do "Constant Cravings" by her. To me it's her signature song.
Did she ever figure it out?
G O O S E B U M P S !!!! LOVE HER
Imho...you're a beatiful young woman with an excellent ear for & appreciation of, good music. Yeah, you'll never hear the end of the 'he' thing..lol. ironically, she would probably love it. Please keep up the great work. I really enjoyed your review. Thanks, RRH
Wow, thank you
try and find the duet she and Roy did
It Is A Woam.
She xx
WOMAN!!
so funny you thought KD is a guy. :) Canadian singer of immeasureable talent
Please review The Canadian Tenors singing with Charise
song The Prayer,Live.
Others songs Angels Calling or Who Wants To Live Forever.
Amazing voices and harmonies.
Her name is Kathryn Dawn (k.d.)
Uh, KD Lang is a she... unashamedly lesbian & Canadian from the start of her singing career in the early 1980s.
As well as singing duets with Roy Orbison, she also sang with Tony Bennett...
