Not a great game, but 2 good goals (especially the Vaulks strike). I guess us #OUFC will be happier with the point, but Oxford fans and Plymouth fans let me know your thoughts. #PAFC
From a Plymouth perspective, yes we needed a win but Muslic can hardly be blamed having only just come in. Unfortunately, the current situation in the league means patience is short but just the fact that the defence is looking much better over the past few games can't be underestimated. Always happy to see a team surpassing expectations, as is the case for Oxford so far, and yes, fingers crossed we'll both stay up, I think we'll somehow manage to graft a route out of the bottom three.
Thanks for the comment. Certainly, not blaming the manager, I did think the Plymouth players didn't show enough urgency to go and win the game. Hopefully you can gey a bounce like e have done under Rowett. Would like to see us both stay up. We ha e had some good battles with Plymouth up and down the leagues.
I enjoyed the match, it felt like a classic game of 2 halves. Some players are starting to show improvement, I was really pleased with Philips performance.
Nice to hear some praise for Philips. Thought he was OK too. It was a game that lacked quality for me. Both sides had one eye on not losing the game. That's not to say that it didn't hold my attention though and I certainly wasn't bored. Just wasn't a classic. Honestly expected more from Plymouth. All in all was a good point, but a little annoyed we didn't win.
I think we played well today and it was the case of we dropped points today which is unfortunate but it is what it is. I am happy with how Vaulks is playing so fair especially since I am a bit of a Vaulks hater cause of mistakes that he has made in the past (Coventry) but I’m happy with him. Our more explosive players are also doing well so happy with that. Right now I would say the Cummings is in player of the season contention cause he has been consistently reliable but interested to know what other people think
Yeah, I was happy with the performance especially 2nd half. Like you I am a bit annoyed we didn't win. Team is looking solid and hard to best which is refreshing to see after the form in November and most of December. Cumming has been amazing. I think I said a couple of games back that he has arguably been the player of the season. He keeps us in most games.
I have no problem with Rowett's tactics. He has inherited a group of players who are not necessarily his own choice, and our losing run means that his task is to keep us up, however that can be achieved. Goodrham's absence also deprives us of a creative, attacking option.
Cheers Ted, nice to gauge where people are with it. For me it's fine as we are scrapping for points. He is trying to eliminate risks and we seem to get better the longer the games go on which is good to see.
Thought we did ok and would definitely have taken that before the start. We are more workmanlike now which is a positive, we were a bit too pretty under Buckingham and wasn't working. Hoping Brannagan will be ok for the weekend as he was absolutely battered.
Cheers Michael, yeah I was happy enough with the performance. 2nd half thought we were the better side. We take far less risks than we did under Buckingham and I have no problem with that. Would not he against Matos starting on Saturday and bring Branners back for the Luton game. He was kicked about quite a lot in that one.
I didn’t get in to start watching until the 50th odd minute and from that point on the game wasn’t a bad watch. I was nervous about this game but as it went on we looked more and more in control. Whilst we certainly weren’t gung ho at any point it didn’t ever look like we were digging in for the 0-1 or 1-1. In fact we were looking more dangerous the longer the game went on & were still sending the likes of Brown up right until the end. Having said that there was a lot of game management which is something we’ve only really seen from the opposition for a long time time now & considering our punching power, is something that is probably long overdue even if not particularly desired. From the 40 mins or so I saw Vaulks did have a better game. It’s interesting what you said about his throws as in the 2nd half they were too loopy to cause any real disconcertion to the Argyle defence. His was a well struck goal but without wanting to be a hater I take issue with 25yards and top bins, yellow and blue glasses I think 😂. Our CB concerns were obviously exasperated last night & I can’t help thinking if Moore and Browne were in the middle their goal wouldn’t have happened. Dembele made things happen when he came on again but is looking like a raw talent with potential. The trouble is at 28 he should be more than potential. His penultimate effort would likely have gone in if he had the composure to hit it low instead of just hitting it at goal at a nice height for the keeper. Anyway, a good performance (2nd half at least) and another point. On form alone Blackburn looks like an easy 3 points 😅
Not sure I understood what you meant about the Vaulks goal? But yes his throws baring the first couple didn't really cause much threat. I am glad we are trying them though. Fingers crossed we will have a new CB in soon. Looks like we are linked with a guy from Huddersfield. Oxford certainly got better in the 2nd half, but for me it was a scrappy game, not that I found it boring, just not a hige amount of quality. I really expected more from Plymouth, thought they were pretty lacklustre considering how desperate they are for points. I like How organised Rowett has made us though, and I am a little disappointed that we didn't win it at the end. Oh well, I am expected another tight game against Blackburn, could be 1-0 either way.
@ It looked like they had a hangover from Brentford & we were effective. The Vaulks goal was a rocket but the Sky Sports angle from behind clearly shows it flying into the middle, nowhere near top bins. Some of the Plymouth fans even think Grimshaw should have got to it, but it was the shear pace that beat him. Yes, it looks like Rowett is heavily influencing recruitment now which further justifies why the board acted when they did although we may have to get used to watching these scrappy types of games. The bookies favour Blackburn and they had a good result on Wednesday. They should be the toughest test so far under GR.
Brilliant point, I had a feeling it would be Gary’s first loss with 1-0 and we could have won it in the last 5 mins. If we can keep unbeaten Saturday things will be looking good. Just hope injuries don’t kill us, COYY!
We are looking stretched at the back. Hopefully there will be a new CB I'm for the Luton game. Saturday should be a tough game, but I am confident that we cam get something from it.
It was a poor game felt like a midtable league 1 game from a spectators point of view. Oxford did so much home work on this game and probably pinpointed these fixtures at the start of the season considering we are one of the non parachute clubs. Argyle had afew good passages of play but nothing up front and was few and far between, Oxford executed the game plan perfectly and perhaps near on stole it at the death if it wasnt for Grimshaws double save at the end. Argyle are on a transition period atm so cannot expect a complete turn around in such a short time for the new manager but oh boy he has his work cut out. Had a good laugh with Vaulks in front of the mayflower and he took the banter like a true pro and even rasied a smile and perhaps on the grand scheme of things is the only memorie ill take. I had no doubts that Oxford would be ok this season new to the league first season honeymoon, But its a known fact that the 2nd season is always the toughest unless big investment can be made to keep up with the parachute clubs. My score prediction before the game was a 2-2 draw so a 1-1 isnt great but both clubs are still unbeaten. What Argyle need to do now is treat every game like a cup game if we are to have any chance of beating the drop and still a long way to go but lets not beat around the bush the new man will have his work cut out! Well Done to Oxford but not a game ill remember for footballing reasons only. Edited to add with the final thoughts you are absolute bang on the thing with Argyle we tend to struggle with teams in and around us so in thory being an Argyle fan i never really hold much hope but when a team like say in the top half we tend to play better which is very odd. Still hopeful we can get 4 points from the remaining two home games.
Thanks for the breakdown I really appreciate it. Certainly don't blame Muslic for the performance as he has had no time to work with the players. Our season have turned around very quickly under Rowett, so hopefully you can do something similar. Would be good if we can both stay up as we have had some good battles with Plymouth up and down the leagues. If we can stay up then that would be amazing, but I know it will be tough every year we are in the Championship. Good luck for the season.
Disappointing to not get all three points but a good point and another step closer to safety. What a cracking goal from Vaulks, all building confidences. Love the long throws from again, Vaulks. Blackburn will be a tough test but confidently, we go again. COYY's
Cheers Malcolm, I think we can get something from the Blackburn game. It will be nice to see Oxford at home again. It's been a while. I was happy with the point, but a little annoyed we didn't win it.
@ Yh but in the final 5 minutes we should have scored their isn’t very many ways we can defend not scoring but once again why is no one stopping the cross that lead to the equaliser it’s always crosses we concede from
It was a rubbish match and a better side than Plymouth would have punished us. We just seem so uncreative. A succession of Will Vaulks throws into the box which got less and less effective. Barely a chance created in the first half. We score through a moment of brilliance, but chances are few and far between. Dembele’s efforts at the end were in the ‘looks good, but you expect the keeper to save’ camp. I think my bad mood is effecting the view of the game. Some very good individual performance; Jamie Cumming - amazing save, Will Vaulks - an absolute belter of a shot. Harris, Brown and Kioso all looked good and we battled hard. However it was a shocking match and it’s certainly not much fun watching Oxford at the moment.
@ I was in a bad mood mood when I wrote that. It wasn’t a good match though and I am tired of our lack of creativity. This was an issue under Buckingham too. We rarely look like scoring. We look too slow and ponderous.
Strange game, poor first half but got the goal. Much better second half, but conceded a poor goal. Felt that Phillips should have been subbed earlier, he's not a right wing back. Once Ter Avest was on, we looked solid. Another day and Dembele scores, or Leigh reacts quicker to that cross. Still, a good away point. 21 or so more needed!
Thanks for the comment. That Leigh chance was very strange. It's like he didn't realise where he was. Shame it didn't fall to Scarlett. Last 2 games we have looked better once Ter Avest has come on and actually ended the game well. He could be a important player under Rowett who does like his wing backs.

Really did. Some great chances and pressure in the 2nd half. I am a bit annoyed we didn't win.

It's amazing how many new players you can sign by selling yellow shirts in Indonesia. 'We all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow..........'
Yep, wait till they move the team to Jakarta
@@OUFCFanView .......Got the missus a yellow burka. What an improvement.

Love the idea of the "Vaulks Whisperer" 😀 BTW are you suffering from PTSD as you said Wycombe instead of Plymouth!
Yeah, I heard it too, don't know why but once it was there I couldn't be bothered to edit it out.

One point closer to fifty
Step by step. 7 more wins
