- This how to guide is for the service for the penn fathom 15, and penn fathom 12. this will also include the penn fathom casting special multiplier reels, this video covers the Penn fathom bearings and oil, new grease and cleaning the gears, and the penn drag system. plus a full strip down and reassembly of the fathom reels. Excellent video. Staring at 10:58 Per schematic, It looks like the first washer put on should go on last (on top of the clicker). Mine didn't work correctly until i made the switch.

Thank you for sharing this. I have a first gen fathom 15 SD. The drag still engages when in free spool. Did I miss anything when putting back together? I hope you can do a similar video for the first gen fathom.
did you put the leaver in the correct position
@@StarfishSeaFishing this is a star drag reel not an LD. I don’t know if I missed anything.

@@StarfishSeaFishing is the Penn grease definitely required or would Rocket fuel liquid grease do the job?
@@farley1968 you can do if you wish have no grease at all and just oil the pinion and moving parts but the carbon drag washers do require penn grease unless you run them dry.

red rocket fuel works for me there are a few difrent types

Hello sr, what You use to clean it outside after salty water fishing? And also wich oil and Grease to use? I don't have acces to fishing reel lubricants, and Also, the bearings of the fathom 2 are ceramic? If not, it worth yo upgrade yo ceramic ones?. Thanks and have a Nice day
Dont need ceramic bearings, they run fine as they are.
As far as cleaning after sea fishing goes, with mine like every other reel i own, i rinse them under warm running tapwater when i get home. Been doing it for years and not had a reel with any corrosion yet
Hello mate I don’t this on a year old real was all working fine before put it all back together as in the video but now my handle slides and I can pull line of the spool with hardly and force with the star drag set as tight as it will go what do you reckon I’ve done maybe something wrong putting it back ?
Mine did the same thing because like his, the washers are not on correctly. Watch at 10:58, the first washer he puts on should should go on last. That first washer goes on top of the clicker per schematics.
