I have a soft spot for react videos. Never imagined watching one for Skinny Puppy! Phenomenal band and one of their most iconic songs. Thanks for the react!
As a Skinny Puppy fan since the 80s (yes I’m old) thank you for discovering them! Read the lyrics… there are a lot of homophones. In this song, it’s “A view so cruel” and “of you, so cruel”
Never too late! I thought I was late to the game when I first heard them back in 2005. 20 years later and they are absolutely sacred to me now! So much history and overall weirdness within the band to explore. Enjoy!
Wow, never seen a reaction to "Worlock" before. Thank you! This sent me on a trip down memory lane. If you revisit Skinny Puppy, I recommend "Smothered Hope", "Assimilate", "Dig It" and "Deep Down Trauma Hounds" among others :)
I just did the Dig It Review & storytime in my growing up in rock & roll playlist. Here’s what I notice, this girl may have filmed some of this long ago. This girl doesn’t always seem to be grasping or discussing lyrical content or the style of music like we started this genre, I grew up with these boys as my babysitters and possible cousins. Except my fam had joined the m*b… I have to say it’s all alleged for now. Many aren’t here anymore and many might still need to be found. I have several deceased friends. We used to help write songs growing up so I’m doing storytimes discussing some of these kids contributions to the arts. For instance I helped write Suffering You by 16 volt when I was just 5 yrs old… that’s how talented us kids were. But many were used in the industry and aren’t here anymore; thrown away. If people like child exploitation 8 ab*se then by all means support these bands. Some were great, some were not. I’d rather see people giving a platform to the bands that cared rather than the ones that traumatized little kids. I should do the psychedelic s*crifices storytimes next but it won’t be for the faint hearted. Worlock was one of mine. My stepdad may have studying Manson. It may have disturbed kids. We may have grown up in a s-house 5 (like the book) of sorts where people would join just to k their kids. And this band was knee deep up in that & might have a lot to answer for. Pick bands like 16 volt who cared about their fans instead of giving a platform to the bands that don’t deserve one. These kids they were writing about without consent lived on the streets in poverty while they enjoyed a nice life. It’s sick.
Woah, someone reacting to SP. My favorite band ever and I didn't ever think to look for a reaction to them. This just randomly popped up. I'm 6 months late, but IDC, I'm watching it anyways.
Yes! This is the song that got me into Skinny Puppy! It definitely sounds very strange at first but the more you listen, the more you get sucked in and realize how deep it really is. I would recommend watching the "music video" for Worlock, it's basically a high-speed mash up of the goriest horror movie scenes at the time, a lot of them being cut or banned in many countries.
Skinny Puppy wrote about animal rights and anti-government views with their lyrics. Seen them over 20 times over my years. Definitely one of the best live performers you'd ever see. Ever. Life changing.
Got to see this song live in 2014 in Chicago and my now ex-wife got Ogre's "tooth" during the performance ( it was a prop that was pried out of his mouth on a camera) and we still hold that memory very close to us! A lot of people dislike Rabies for its Ministry influence but it's still a great album and Worlock is such an AMAZING track!!
Some trivial about the lyrics: "With the right attitude you will succeed Blue. Self-abusive recluse is too late for me." ... Blue is a reference to "Cyan" - the name of an ex-girlfriend of Ogre (vocalist). (An associate of mine used to babysit their cats.)
i freaking love Skinny puppy, seen them a few times and had the pleasure once to work with Cevin on an album sleeve...they still give me life...this song is one of my favourite.
Thank you! Seeing Skinny Puppy live is such a different experience. They are retiring after this last tour (at least we think) so best catch them if you can.
Al Jourgensen of Ministry played on this record and did some production and engineering work. Worlock has samples of Charles Manson and he's the one singing Helter Skelter by the Beatles. Skinny Puppy lyrics often touch on animal rights but I think the lyrics to Worlock deal mainly with the Manson family murders (Blue was the nickname of one of the Manson girls). I do think they were written in such a way that it can also be interpreted as a commentary on animal cruelty through testing as well as media censorship.
According to what Ogre said at one of the VIP soundchecks before one of the dates on their Final Tour this past spring, "Blue" was his girlfriend at the time. This means the song is at least semi-autobiographical. The reference to "skinpopper" seems obvious, but based on other comments he's made in the past it's not hard to imagine that when he says "self-abusive recluse too late for me" he's talking about himself.
My guess is that Ogre is interconnecting Manson's Blue and his Blue. He intertwines themes in his lyrics all the time. It would make perfect sense in this case considering how Worlock seems to be at least in part about Manson and the Manson family murders @@careyclevenger3584
You really should've watched the Worlock video. Nothing but graphic deleted scenes from horror movies. If you want to hear something scary, I recommend SP Blood on the Wall, Dogsh*t, and Current93 "Fields of Rape". And remember Skinny Puppy's moniker" "Dance music as hard as the world we live in"
@@neonskepetunije I posted that before I heard the song name to be played. I guess you can say I was just hoping that’s what’s it’d be. I definitely recommend it!
One of the better Skinny Puppy songs, "Who's Laughing Now?" is my favorite song, they are all about creepy... I mean this had all sorts of Charles Manson and Beatles Helter Skelter all over it.
@@neonskepetunijeit's short for Revolting Cocks. It was the sillier side of Ministry, but a lit of it is quite good. I would recommend Stainless Steel Providers, In The Neck or Attack Ships on Fire (Blade Runner reference!)
Skinny Puppy was the greatest band in the history of humanity!
Ogre... " Play it loud, or don't play it at all". Epic words, and so damn true.
I have a soft spot for react videos. Never imagined watching one for Skinny Puppy! Phenomenal band and one of their most iconic songs. Thanks for the react!
Thanks so much for watching!😄 I loved everything I heard from Skinny Puppy so far!
I am so happy you picked Skinny Puppy
Me too! I'm really enjoying them so far.
My first concert. "Remission" tour. Seattle with 'Severed Heads'.
Husky Union Ballroom, UDub.

Still have the shirt from first tour, 1986.
Yeah... I'm old too.
Same here, known the bands name for ever but never listen to any of their songs until 2 month ago. It wasn't what I expected, but I'm hooked!

One of the best song ever. The chorus is so emotional. I remember I was listen to it for hours when i was young. SP IS such a unique band.
Skinny Puppy used TR-909’s and 808’s. A prequel to modern Techno sound.

I can confirm, it gets better and better with each listen. I'll definitely check out the music video 👍
This is the song that really hooked me thirty years ago. So much of their music is amazing but I'll always consider this their masterpiece.
That is a recording of Charles Manson singing at 4:20. For real! He thought he was a star before becoming the devil!
I've never not gotten chills hearing this song.
Right?
Now is the only thing that is real...
Charles' will is man's son...
Great Canadian Band, electronica / industrial pioneers, Worlock is a brilliant track
A big inspiration to Nine Inch Nails
“I dig it.” 😃
All these years later and Skinny Puppy still sounds so good! I love Morpheus Laughing or the Choke

My favorite band
Watching the music video, 100% horror movie clips, and trying to imagine channel surfing to it in 1989…
I was lucky enough to see them in concert, quite an experience.
Ahh that's amazing! After watching the live video of Assimilate I wish I could've seen them live 😩
Ah! You said you ‘dig it’
They have a song called, Dig It, which inspired Trent Reznor to write the song, Down In It👍🏼

close your eyes and feel.
Loudly.
The video is just as good.
That first few seconds of the music that makes you think you are listening to a horror movie...turns out, you are!
The only natural way to proceed is Tin Omen. If Smothered Hope then Ministry cover.
