The more I learn, the more I know to teach my son(s) that just because something looks sweet doesn't mean it's actually sweet... Lessons that had someone kept teaching me I think I would see life totally different compared to seeing it so naively...

That is what you go to confession for and tell your sins to the priest not to you son so that now he has to carry that around with him! She should have taken that to her grave with her!

I love French movies. They’re usually so taboo and appalling but this happens in real life

It does. Sometimes it's not even that scandalous. Having a bastard like that is scandalous I suppose. But when one of my ancestors died, their spouse married their twin sister. So to their kids (which included a great great great grandfather of mine) barely missed a step.
      Idk who is who anymore.
My dad was very dissimilar to his 7 brothers (well, at least the 6 that lived to adulthood). All their names started with 'D' except for my dad, tho he went by Dick.
The youngest was randomly named Larry - Lawrence. He died at age 3. I have many questions about it.
My grandmother had given birth to my father at 'home' - what we might call a shack today. It was 1939, and the Great Depression remained in those parts until the war ended.
It didn't have running water or electricity - just a hose and wash basin and one electric light and a single phone for the neighborhood.
My dad was the 2nd oldest of 9. My grandmother had all 9 kids in 11 years (only 8 pregnancies due to one set of twins).
She would eventually outlive 7 of her 8 kids. My dad was the second to last to die. Last I heard, his older brother (who looks NOTHING like him in old photos but did look like him as an adult ) is still alive, and the one girl - my aunt - is still alive.
I am the youngest of idk how many grandkids. 20? Even tho my dad was second oldest. He had children late and was really the only one (other than my aunt) that found any success. Going from being born in a shack to graduating from an Ivy League university (for dairy science tho haha).
I want to know why he was so dissimilar from his siblings. Why he never talked to them or about them, and yet family was always most important thing to my father.
I want to know how my grandma had 9 kids in a decade, a decade which included MY GRANDFATHER GOING TO PARTS UNKNOWN WIFH THE ARMY BC OF WW2.
There's no one I can ask.
I learned a few yrs ago (so like 20 yrs after my dad died) that my dad had a vision ailment that I now suffer from.
I also recently learned that my grandfather - who died 20 yrs before I was born - died from an embolism and not a heart attack. This I learned after I was diagnosed with a rare blood clot disease that I guess my grandfather had.
