  • In this realistic portrait shading video, I show you my quick process for shading a face with graphite and charcoal. When shading portraits, I like combining the two. Charcoal powder also comes in handy when trying to create realistic face shading.

    Amazing work as always. Love your work so much :) You've helped me immensely with my portrait work by using the grid technique and introducing me to charcoal, this made me realize there is also a lot of technical work to Art. We can choose to free hand, or we can also choose to be much more accurate and use a grid to help us. When I'm drawing a portrait for a client, I almost always use the grid technique now just to be that much more accurate. Thank you for sharing your techniques with us! From one artist to another, I wish you all the best and I will be following you as far as you go

      For me, these days I spend 8, max 9.hours on a drawing. I usually spent 12 - 14 hours as a beginner

      Any would work fine. Think of it like Hard as 2b, medium as 4b and soft as 6b charcoal pencils
