    I soak the sphagnum moss in hot boiling water and let it cool for a couple of hours before use. This is a good way to disinfect the sphagnum moss. I am not sure if you have tried it, but I have done it and it works well for me. Thanks for sharing!

    I need help, got an apple tree 1 and 1/2 old. It’s growing too big. I live in a apartment so I keep it on a pot. It hasn’t bare any fruit yet, can I still air layer my fruity companion?

      Never tried an apple tree but sure why not. Give it a try. You could also trim the tree. Happy growing. :-)

    What will happen if I don't use hormodin? And what will happen if I use Coco fiber as a cover? Will it work successfully? I have a soursop also ,I want to do what you do. Please response 😊

      Most growers use hormone on the branch. You can try without also but generally better results with hormone in my experience. Coco Fiber is good also as a medium. Good luck. Sorry for the delay in responding. Sometimes the comments do not show up for months on the channel.

    How many air layers can you do with that size package of orchid sphagnum moss?

    Can lychees produce fruit in zone 9b? (Brewster or Sweet Heart Lychees)

      Should be fine as long as you get at least 45 degrees F for a few nights. The timing of the pruning is also very important. Prune right after the harvest. This generally will sync the timing for next season.

    can this be done during the trees dormancy state or does it have to be done while the tree is actively growing? its still very cold in NY and snow is predicted next week

      Best to start when buds start growing in spring which gives you lots of time for roots to grow (between 1-3 months) then time for replanting to pot or ground.

      Not if you wrap tight with cellophane or plastic and cover with foil.

    Is it possible to grow longans from grafting or cutting

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  6 років тому

      Yes grafting is a method and so is air layering. Cuttings may be possible but never tried. Don't know anyone who propagates them from cuttings.

    is the hormone needed?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  5 років тому

      Unless you want to take chances with poor root development. I find it really is important on lychee trees.

    Great video, but latex free gloves are far more safer. People can easily become latex sensitive, I have seen many health professionals have major issues regarding latex sensitivity. There’s no price difference.

      I assume that you could do this anytime of the year except for the dormant. Like for us up north when it's winter so you could do this in spring summer and fall is that correct

      wakawaka it’s pronounced “lee chee” not Lie chee. I had a dog that I named Lychee (because his hair was white) and people kept calling him “lie chee” and it used to irritate the heck out of me.

      Wakawaka I agree with your pronunciation. That's the way we pronunce it in Hawaii.
