I am finally done with my exams for the year!! And now I can read without thinking that I should actually prepare for the exam. In Norway we get this preparation material that we must read because we might get questions about the texts in the preparation material. And for the English exam we had to read some drafts from Miss Peregrine and I was the only one in my class who had read it, so everybody asked me questions about the rest of the book. It was a great change from having people telling me that I’m a nerd because I like reading I just wanted to share this story and thank you, Jesse, for introducing me to the miss Peregrines books, and so many other amazing books!!
The main character of *as you wish* is not very likeable? I can relate to that... Goblins tend to have the social skills of ... ummmm... well, a goblin.
I read this is where it ends by: marieke nijkamp and the book was so intense and this book was very inspirational to me. Even thought this book is pretty deep, I love the way the author wrote this book.
You should read “Meddling Kids” by Edgar Cantero. It is an adult spin on Scooby Doo, but makes old memories of my really young self watching scooby doo. There are adult topics, themes, words, etc. It is still good, though.
I literally can't wait for my exams (J.High) to finish! Those poor books on my bookshelves are collecting dust and they must be read soon! Love ya Jessie! 🙌✌️
I am so glad that I’m school is finished for the semester!! (At least it is here in Norway) I can finally read the books that I’ve had on my shelves since Christmas!!
What the heck Jesse! My school book club just read this is where it ends! I agree with everything you said. I never even thought about a POV from the shooter! I want it so bad now. I know I had a really hard time remembering everyone’s relations to each other, but when I decided to audiobook it I got a lot more emotion especially since I was lucky enough to find one with each character having their own voice. I cried at the end because of that. The biggest thing I found frustrating about this book was the random texts and tweets that we never find out who sent what.
I have to say, I love your videos .. I´m from czech republic, and I love books. I love how you are in every video so happy and possitive and full of energy. I think, booktube (And whole youtube) needs more people like you! Keep going!
currently listening to siege and storm and i'm loving it. Part of it is because the person who reads it is the same who read Nina for the six of crows duology and nina is awesome. As I'm vvvvvv late to the whole Grisha thing, is it a common thing to have Nikolai as a fav character? because i fluffing love him
I love him so much! I'd love a book on his adventures pre trilogy - he's probably one of my fav characters of all time. Thanks for letting me know I wasn't the only one!
I've recently read the book "Quicksand" by Malin Persson Giolito (I read it in the original Swedish language). It's also about a school shooting, but this book takes place in court after a girl is arrested for murder and abetment in murder. It's a drama about teenagers and their lives, media and the judiciary. It can be boring if you're not interested in law and there is no action. However, it has very developed characters, especially the main character. They feel very realistic.
Great video!! I love your content especially your most recently read books series. In the future can you start review classic literature? I would love to hear ur opinions on books like pride and prejudice, of mice and men, Frankenstein, great gatsby, ect.
Thanks! & most definitely. I’m just now starting to pick up classics. I just recently finished Cat’s Cradle & will be discussing it in my next recently read video. :)
Hey Jesse! All your videos put a smile on my face. I can totally relate to your goofiness.....Can you do an apartment tour??? When is your next video coming out???
My favorite I’ve recently read has to be The Girl on the Train. It was so enthralling and kept me engaged throughout. One of my favorites so far this year!
I just finished a book called "A Lite Too Bright" by Samuel Miller, and I haven't read something so poetic since The Book Thief. It's a wonderful and heartbreaking/warming story. Hopefully you see this as well Jesse!
Jesse! Have you read Scythe? It has recently become my favorite, so if you haven't I highly recommend it. It's a dystopian, but also utopian, and it's very deep and thought provoking. Scythe puts other dystopian YA books to shame. Lookin at you, Divergent. Not to mention the glorious cover. And likeable protagonists.
I just subscribed to you and found your channel. And I completely just love you, I love how your fun and interesting to watch! I never get bored of you ❤❤
I read "Six of Crows" by Leigh Bardugo and "Skulduggery Pleasant 10: Ressurection" by Derek Landy and I absoluely loved them both. Can't wait for Midnight (the 11th book of Skulduggery Pleasant) to arrive on June 4th and can't wait until "Crooked Kingdom" comes out in German (which is the case this fall...) :D
Even though ive recommend this book in these comments sections i seriously third or whatever recommend Jason Reynolds debut novel (When I Was The Greatest) i also suggest How It Went Down by Kekla Magoon, it deals with similar issues to All American Boys Ok some books that I've read recently are Simon Vs The Homosapiens Agends and The Upside of Unrequited, i liked them both but i prefer Simon IMO. I've also read If I Was Your Girl and The Sky Is Everywhere. I also finished up the Unwind dystology. And I'm currently reading Everything Here Is Beautiful by Mira T. Lee
I just finished Big Little Lies this morning and it was a lot....more than I expected. I’m looking forward to picking up more by this author moving forward.
Currently reading "the signature of all things" by Elizabeth Gilbert. Amazing. A bit slow, but interestingly, i don't mind, I feel that the pace really fits the tone of the story
i recently read “this is where it ends” and i bawled tbh; i finished at like three am because i couldn’t stop reading it. i really enjoyed it personally, but i get where your criticisms come from.
Hey Jesse! You really need to check out Farenheit 451 if you haven’t read it. If you have, please let me know!! Not alot of my friends have read it, and it is such a fantastic book to read.
You make me inspired to read more and interest me on so many different topics, thankyou Jesse! I'm thinking I'll pick 'For everyone' up, it sounds cool.......
I highly suggest *A Week of Mondays* I really enjoyed the book and how we get to see how thr character goes through each day different than the last. Please read
I've recently read Renegades, and And I Darken, both of which I absolutely loved. I'm also currently in the middle of The Book Thief, Ace of Shades, a re-read of Red Queen, and the audiobook for Illuminae . . . I may have bitten off way more than I can chew here 😂😂 I am enjoying all of them though, so . . . 🤷
I only started watching your videos recently but i just wanted to say they are great! Also, I just finished 'This book is Gay' and it's a very interesting and informative book I would recommend.
I suggest you read the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. If you like magic and mythical creatures, this book is definitely one you should read.
I recently read Thirsty by M. T. Anderson (not sure if I liked it or not yet), Hungry by H. A. Swain (I loved that one a lot), and I'm currently reading Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson! It's really good so far. It's the best one out of the three!
I recently read "The Fog Within" by Nick Shamhart and it made me cry tears of sadness and happiness. It's written from the point of view of an autistic girl at three stages of her life; Childhood, Adolescence and Adulthood. I cannot recommend enough
A book that I recommend so much, because I thaught I wouldn't really liked it but it ended up being in my top 5 favorite book of all times. The book I am talking about is The hazel wood from Melissa Albert. The story is a dark kind of fairytail, and I really love it! So if someone is searching for a new read, I highly recommend!
I recently read Catcher in the rye and Frankenstein and although i really liked Frankenstein, I'm kinda confused about how i feel about Catcher in the rye. It's not a bad book but I kinda got some weird vibes while reading it.
My recently read: The Little Prince (Just like Ghostbusters, I only liked it for its iconography) The Sandman Vol. 3: Dream Country (Amazing, 3 out of 4 of the stories included were phenomenal)
If you enjoyed The Earth, My Butt, Etc.-- I think you might enjoy "Sugar" by Deirdre Riordan Hall! It's a little more intense, but similar focus on a heavier main character with body image and home life struggles. It's SUPER underrated, in my opinion. Also it will rip your heart out. in a good way. kind of. haha.
I read This is Where it Ends recently too and agree on a lot of your thoughts. It was a powerful book overall, but the characters felt lacking to me, especially the shooter.
I’m currently reading “This is Where it Ends” and I have the same feelings. I am about 50% done and I sometimes have trouble following who’s perspective I’m reading at that time.
I recently read clockwork princess, the wide window and a court of thorns and roses. I enjoyed them all. I just had issues with pacing because the pacing was so slow until halfway throw the book and then it was incredible. 😂
I’ve recently read Eliza and her Monsters (4.5 ⭐️) The Upside of Unrequited(5 ⭐️) The Wicked Deep(4.5 ⭐️) The Price Guide to the Occult(2 ⭐️) Overall I generally enjoyed what I have been reading.
Personally I just finished This Is Where It Ends like 5 minutes ago, and I really wanted to see the perspective of Fareed but maybe that’s just me. I completely agree, too.
I haven't been loving the books I've been reading lately either. I read 12 books in June and half of them were 2 or 1 star reviews. I had hope for them too. The best book was "Summer of the Monkeys" by Wilson Rawls. It breaks my heart that he only wrote 2 books in lis life. I've read them both and feel oddly incomplete knowing that.
I read this is where it ends on a bus ride back from a band trip and it was such a dramatic book that seemed really real but I didn't like the book that much because all the characters were lacking and I was constantly having to look who was talking
Today I was just looking at my brand new outlander bookset and remember how I refused to borrow a friend of mine bcoz she just doesn't know how to take care of books then I got this sudden imagination of my bookshelf catching fire (guilty conscience dealing with me) then I just had this silly tot crossed my mind " which book will Jesse save if he's bookshelf is on fire" so which one book will you save? I'm so curious
i read this is where it ends and i think my main problem with the book was that she gave it a time span of 45 minutes, which would lead you to think that she'd fully focus on the actual shooting and the terror that comes with it. you'd expect an author wouldn't try to give you much character detail over such a short span of these characters lives, especially because something so drastic is happening plot wise, and this would've been totally okay because the plot is so intense and eyeopening, that you won't need very vivid personalities to tell the story. however, nijkamp tries to actually give you information on the characters and their background and even their personal connection with the shooter, and still tries to cramp it in such a short book. this resulted in both the plot and characters feeling flat. we never truly got enough time to truly feel invested in the characters lives, though i couldn't fully focus on the intensity of the plot, because every time a flashback would start i'd feel disconnected for the terror of the school shooting. if she'd wanted to write such a short book about a school shooting it would've been best to focus fully on the shooting and the terrifying emotions that come with it. if she wanted to write a story about these characters, their lives and the psychology behind a school shooting, she should've made the book longer and let it last over a longer time span. for me it felt like it was best if she had picked one or the other, yet she tried to do both, which resulted in this book lacking on both characters and plot execution, for me. which is sad because i really wanted to like this book.
So glad you're reading Jason Reynolds! He is my hero!!! You MUST watch his interview with Trevor Noah - he just totally understands young people and loves us all... it's just so wonderful and refreshing! I recommend his latest, Long Way Down, and his Track middle grade series, too! :)
I really liked The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things. I picked it up at the beginning of the book because it seemed interesting. I'm glad I did. I'm currently reading the Harry Potter Illustrated edition for Prisoner of Azkaban, and read the other 2 this month and am enjoying the illustrations. It is well worth picking up those editions for collection purpose, as well as to read. I also am reading The Fates Divide, but I'm having a hard time reading it. I also read ACOFAS at the beginning of the month, and had slight issues with it, but not too many.
This was *just* what I needed!
I'm going through a horrible reading slump, but your videos really help me get through it quicker🍀
Viviana Bush I'll definitely try that! Thanks!

He is loved so much that he is getting a duology
There is going to be a book about him that is set post trilogy, King of Scars
Good news! There will be a Nikolai spinoff!! 💞
Estelle Curiel Siege and Storm was a great book, but get reading for people ripping out the sun summoner’s hair, her almost dying, and more crying....
I'm anxiously awaiting summer vacation so I can read a bunch of these books! Exams are weighing on me too much to do a lot of reading.
"For Everyone" sounds so interesting. Thanks Jesse, you mentioned it on the right time, I'm in need for something inspiring right now😆

It's not a bad book but I kinda got some weird vibes while reading it.
jesse, have you watched a series of unfortunate events season 2? random but i was wondering since you're such a fan of the original book series
My recently read:
The Little Prince (Just like Ghostbusters, I only liked it for its iconography)
The Sandman Vol.
Also it will rip your heart out. in a good way. kind of. haha.
I cannot rave about For Everyone enough! I literally read it three times in one day because I just couldn’t get enough of it
I read This is Where it Ends recently too and agree on a lot of your thoughts. It was a powerful book overall, but the characters felt lacking to me, especially the shooter.

I can’t wait for the new Miss Perigrines (map of days) 😀🔱😀!!!
I read this is where it ends on a bus ride back from a band trip and it was such a dramatic book that seemed really real but I didn't like the book that much because all the characters were lacking and I was constantly having to look who was talking
Can you do a reading vlog soon Jessie please! 📚🤓
Can you do a book recommendations video I also love reading?
Can you read renegades by marissa Meyer as a book of the month or just read it and cover it?
Today I was just looking at my brand new outlander bookset and remember how I refused to borrow a friend of mine bcoz she just doesn't know how to take care of books then I got this sudden imagination of my bookshelf catching fire (guilty conscience dealing with me) then I just had this silly tot crossed my mind " which book will Jesse save if he's bookshelf is on fire" so which one book will you save? i read this is where it ends and i think my main problem with the book was that she gave it a time span of 45 minutes, which would lead you to think that she'd fully focus on the actual shooting and the terror that comes with it. you'd expect an author wouldn't try to give you much character detail over such a short span of these characters lives, especially because something so drastic is happening plot wise, and this would've been totally okay because the plot is so intense and eyeopening, that you won't need very vivid personalities to tell the story. however, nijkamp tries to actually give you information on the characters and their background and even their personal connection with the shooter, and still tries to cramp it in such a short book. this resulted in both the plot and characters feeling flat. we never truly got enough time to truly feel invested in the characters lives, though i couldn't fully focus on the intensity of the plot, because every time a flashback would start i'd feel disconnected for the terror of the school shooting. if she'd wanted to write such a short book about a school shooting it would've been best to focus fully on the shooting and the terrifying emotions that come with it. if she wanted to write a story about these characters, their lives and the psychology behind a school shooting, she should've made the book longer and let it last over a longer time span. for me it felt like it was best if she had picked one or the other, yet she tried to do both, which resulted in this book lacking on both characters and plot execution, for me. which is sad because i really wanted to like this book.
So glad you're reading Jason Reynolds! He is my hero!!! You MUST watch his interview with Trevor Noah - he just totally understands young people and loves us all... it's just so wonderful and refreshing! I recommend his latest, Long Way Down, and his Track middle grade series, too! :)
I just finished As You Wish this morning...it wasn't my favorite but I still liked it
Love your videos💕
Jesse I love you so much
When Jesse said ‘This is where it ends’ I gasped loudly and freaked out my cat. I really did like that book.
