Who else notices how humble these kids and all SOR Teams are? They do an amazing performance and then change players on stage or walk off stage like the average kid change classes at school.
Not too bad but pretty sloppy. So not nailed, but we'll studied. Also remember this was a Baxter Dias duet. They established an absurdly high level of musicianship. I hope Becker and Fagen hear this ode to their brilliance.
Way more fun watching these fine, young musicians play this classic than watching any collection of session players surrounding Becker & Fagen do it, since they resumed touring in August of 1993.
By the way, check UA-cam for the Midnight Special channel. Burt Sugarman has people putting up classic songs including several really awesome Steely Dan ones.
@@MidWestConcertVideo2 I have indeed, and watching that show every Friday night in 1973 is the reason my wife and I drove 90 miles one-way to see Steely Dan at the U. of Toledo in April 1974. No internet back then, so we had no idea that we would also be introduced to future blue-eyed soul legend Michael McDonald as one of the band members that day. We call it the concert of our lives, because Becker & Fagen wouldn't tour again until August of 1993 (and never again with that lineup). We had to follow guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter and McDonald over to The Doobie Brothers to get our live music fix for the rest of the decade.
Incredible amazing! a bunch of (terrific) kids doing better than a lot of "seasoned" pro musicians! singer is inside inner of the song!! lead guitar player got the groove and essence of the original solo with spectacular force and expression, flute, keyboard and bass player girls plenty of attitude, drummer was steady, energic and free of fly on tempo advancing, solid rhythms guitarists, Every band member make it great! One of the best covers ever IMHO.

The shortness of the Miniskirt on the keyboard girl should be mandated as the required shortness of Miniskirts everywhere. Just a thought. Great job as usual kids!
17 Year old applying to play guitar for any band, orchestra, TV show etc. Question: what makes you thing you are qualified for this gig! Answer: I played lead on Steely Dan and other songs with the 2017 School of Rock AllStars Team 3. Any person who knows anything about the SOR! YOU AIR HIRED!!!!
If I had a band, I would hire *any* of these kids. Check out this take on _My Old School._ The lead guitarist was only 15 at the time and I think was actually *better* than Skunk. Baxter. ua-cam.com/video/UjVj73_eBHw/v-deo.html
@@MidWestConcertVideo2 I believe his name is Conner. He has mastered Larry Carlton! The song has 3 amazing lead breaks and he adds his own at the end. Amazing!
The bigger the venue, the better the sound. This was shot in the back of a record store. The problem is loud guitar amps means that the guitar and bass rarely wind up in the main sound system, and that's the feed that I'm getting. The only option to get audio that's as good as my video would be to record every single channel, and that rarely is a possibility.
Pretty much all of these young musicians are in their own bands. What the School of Rock provides to them is what young musicians most need - a place to practice, a time to practice, people to practice with, and most importantly, knowledgeable and dedicated teachers, all of whom are working musicians. They have to leave when they're 18, and by the time they reach this level, they could pretty much step into any band in town. Heck, I know one kid who beat 150 pros in the city of Chicago to get the job as the house drummer at the local production of the Blue Man Group. A musician's union gig at an age when most are lucky to get a job working the fry machine at Mickey D's.
This kid nailed one of the most technical guitar solos ever written/played 😯
1 year later: ALL of those kids nailed it. Frickin' amazing. They look like they had a blast.
Great performance, the flute was a nice addition - well done!
I'd bet that Jeff Skunk Baxter would be smiling if he watched them cover this rockin' classic tune! 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
And Denny Dias.
Absolutely incredible. To see young people embracing Steely Dan and doing it so well warms my heart.
What a fantastic talented group of kids. This song is complex to say the least and they “killed “it”
These young folk not only have great taste in music but also the ability to play it well.
If you look closely you can catch Caroline actually smiling at times during this song. The kids are awesome to say the least. Rock on !!!!
I graduated from High School in 1979. If there was School of Rock back then, I'd still probably be in High School. Rock On!

Yes I keep noticing that and I’m just very impressed.
Faaaark!! Amazing sound. Guy with the solo really nailed a difficult part.
DAMN!!!! This was so AWESOME!!! The lead guitarist BROUGHT IT!!!!!
Larry Carlton would be proud. Well done young folks!

Nearly every AllStar show features a _Steely Dan_ song. Them and Zappa are two of the foundations of the program.
wow stuff indeed...
So happy that's the case. Becker & Fagen composed songs that sounded 10 years ahead of their time … still sound that way today.
Straight up awesome! More Dan from YOUR band please!
All stars indeed. Love this cover. Where are you all now. Making music I trust.
Used to play Bodhisattva in my band in the 70s, no where near as well. Kudos!
wow awesum
I'm often tempted to say "this is the best SOR video I've seen".....but this one really is!

superb !!
What great fun they had!!
Great job, one of my favorite videos. Lead singer looks a bit like michael moore
absolutely F... brilliant:)
Wow! Great job!
Wow, total respect
Amazing performance; great young talent on a difficult song; great. Bill
Bravo and kudos for all of you 😊
Fab guitar solo,👌
What was that thing at the end with the kid with the black Les Paul and the tongue 👅 😳 🤔
Great playing though 👏 👌 👍
AWESOME!!!!

Jugando al rock ,
Impossible tempo being set. WOW!
Two artists pretty much every School of Rock AllStar team will cover are Steely Dan and Frank Zappa.
I never knew Michael Moore could sing lol. But seriously these kids nailed it!

Nathaniel Smith Sorry. I have to mix them together, as the board feed I get is only stereo and is weak on guitar and bass.
...... & some reckon Ed Sheeran & the like do good music. THIS is good music & thank you!!!!

Slow down !!!!!!
