Dozens of stars donated their time and talents at the Canteen, but none was more devoted than its co-founder, Bette Davis, who was at the peak of her film career.

Of course, Hollywood was proud enough of their achievement with the Canteen that they made a movie about it - starring Bette Davis as herself.
This was the America I love. A good archive of what we are capable of and could do again if we wanted to.
Every man was a hero to all at home. The volunteers did a tremendous job to help their morale at these canteens, whether it be local girls and guys, or famous Hollywood actors and actresses. They will always be remembered so many years later, and these video clips are great in doing so. Many thanks for your bringing them to us.
Now after seeing this, imagine the "stars" of today doing this.
I imagine me 10 inches far from Linda Darnell...heart attack!!!
Not many volunteers in today's celebrities. Maybe some C&W stars.
Don’t think so 🥲Americans Once had Class. Now you can’t even tell who IS a Real American
Thanks for the CBI footage.
You’d have to pay them millions !
