Your garden is so interesting! You say it's fairly small but it seems huge because of how you create interest in different spaces! Very inspiring! Thank you!
I have a large flat plot of land with no plants or trees, so this was really useful. Even if it is meant for smaller gardens, I still found lots of useful tips. Thank you for sharing ❤
Olga just want to say thank you for all your wonderful videos with such great ideas. And a special thanks to your husband for filling them for you. It warms my heart knowing that you have somebody special to do that for you.
I.love garden room's &views from diffrent areas . You garden rooms looks so pretty & magical like a secret garden 💛 big THANKS to the camera guy your husbent 💙
Ms. Carmichael, You are my very favorite UA-cam gardener. Your posts are engaging and informative but more importantly filled with a passion for gardening and a love of nature. Thank you!
This series is wonderful and so eye-opening. Now I realize some of the reasons your garden is so engaging and pleasant to behold. I've definitely picked up some tips and ideas for improving my own garden. Great job! Thanks so much for all you do for your gardening friends. On to #4!
I love the room by room walkway. I started 10 years ago with a hot unplanted yard and have slowly added rooms. It makes me so happy and feels so much more interesting. I also love all the wildlife that flits among the hedges and trees I have planted. Your garden is certainly inspiring and is filled with good ideas. Come visit me on Cape Cod anytime with your family and we can chat all things gardening ❤️
I love your style. So informative and engaging. Love the rooms you created. I am renting a house, and have created two gardens, one shade and one sun. I am looking forward to making some vertical structures as well. I will have to watch your video on how to make that archway. Thanks for all of your wonderful inspiration.
Love… love… how you presented your garden by explaining what best! I wish I seen your UA-cam much earlier like 5years ago!😊 Now my garden is already established so really hard and expensive to change it😒but my garden is not bad at all, I love gardening after or before going to teach my classes( I’m a yoga teacher, live in Scotland) Thank you for your UA-cam Chanel, such a good talker as well. And I love it!🌹❤️
This was very fun and interesting ! Love your layering and room creating , your ideas and design principles bring Linda Vaters style to mind 💙 thank you for inspiration 💐🦋🐞🌺🌹
Loved loved loved this video.. Thank you “Husband” for the beautiful angles and views…. Your garden is excellent. I have worked on rooms for two seasons now.
This was a great explanation of how to make a garden so much more interesting. I need to redesign an area to make it more engaging and these ideas are great. thank you for showing us how you did this in your garden.
Loved watching the 3 part series of how to design your own garden. January last year my now fiancé and me moved from an apartment to this 3 bedroom house with smallish front and back (42 m2)garden. For our housing price category it has a good amount of garden space. So happy to have a garden now where we can enjoy being outdoors, also for our early elderly cat. I want to achieve a romantic, wildlife, cottage garden look with a small pond and native plants for local wildlife. Seeing your video and some of other UA-camrs, makes me realize that my garden lack evergreen structures. What kind of green hedge plants do you own? The fluffy kind looks really nice. I'm also planning on adding a hawthorn tree this fall, for vertical interest and natural shade for the house during the warm summer months.
Hi there, you are going to love your garden, and your can will enjoy it too! I use privet for hedging which I won't recommend, it grows like weeds. I also have arborvitaes which demand sunny conditions and good watering schedule during first year of planting. Yews are great too, if you don't mind their dark green presence in winter. I would recommend Japanese hollies and boxwoods as well. Enjoy your new green space and happy gardening!
Enjoyed your garden and your speaking of how to build your garden to your liking. I like the idea of having a pathway to different areas of your garden thank you 🙏
Thank you for another informative and enjoyable video. I'm going to be looking at my property and trying to incorporate entryways and "rooms" in certain areas like you have done - great idea.
Very well explained! Thank you…Loved all the examples of rooms, textures, color, value and di people using that space. Con passing your garden test…you are Amazing❤
I just found you last week! Talk about kindred spirits! You have a beautiful yard! Thank you for sharing with us. I was wondering what camera and mic you use? So many videos of others are good but you can't hear them but your videos are loud and sound so nice.
Very informative. I love how you have incorporated a ‘walk’ around your garden. My garden is also shallow, but has open views over a farmer’s field, as such we can’t plant anything tall as it would hide the view. Someone recommended that we ‘frame’ the view by having something tall at either corner of the back border and then shorter planting in between. I don’t like that I can see the whole garden all at once, but it is very small, and it would be nice to be able to include some interest and a walk through it as you suggest. Thanks Olga, love from the UK x
Hello,Olga. I like your garden has many different rooms, it look so privacy and each family has own favorite spot. My house is semi detached house, so neighbors can watch me from their upstairs master bedroom window when I am in the back yard, which sometimes annoy as such hot day I would like to wear very less clothes and sit down in some evening especially after took a long bath. I had a big plastic gazebo long time ago but it’s only cheap one and blown away by heavy gale. More I deep bottom garden I go then neighbors can see me, so I only can sit down very close to the back door near the house area where no one can see me even I am in my pajama. Wish I had a kind like an Igloo made by plants or bush. Hahaha 🤗so I can escape from peoples eyes when really want to relax. Today UK will hit 40 C, heat wave, very hot, but I am use to hot summer in Japan but we have every single room had air conditioning but here none, UK only 0.5 % people only have house air conditioning, so night time a little uncomfortable. But soon will go back to normal British weather. My Hydranger Annabel, Hydranger Bluebird and Japanese Wisteria called Honbeni will be delivered tomorrow sometimes, I am looking forward to grow them. Best Wishes 🌹🌸🌹🌸🇯🇵
Hi Nagaoka, lovely message! Hope you are enjoying your new plants. And hope your hot weather will be cooler soon! We have drought conditions here in Connecticut as well. Days are hot!
New subscriber here…you are a delight! Thanks for sharing these tips! One day I want to move to Old Saybrook and design a beautiful garden. I’ll keep these ideas in mind!
I really enjoy your videos and your knowledge. Thank you. I do find where you keep shifting your body side to side, sends me a little dizzy so I can’t always watch, as I have a neurological disorder that is a bit like vertigo. Movement makes everything feel like it’s spinning. I know that’s a me problem, I just wish I could watch more of them. 😊
Excellent video covering all of the important principles in an easy to understand way. Thank you very much for all of the effort to make such wonderful content! ❤ Definitely subscribing!
i absolutely love your videos and explanations, thank you for being so generous with your knowledge and advice! I only have a patio (no in ground planting) but one day I would love to have a space like this. For now, just lots and lots of containers (and one Desdemona rose from David Austin). :)
@@OlgaCarmody I planted her in March as a bare root rose along with a Queen of Sweden that I gifted to my mom for Mother's Day. She's absolutely beautiful and getting a ton of sun, still blooming nicely, but the foliage was ravaged by sawflies early in the season. And I think I need to up the fertilizer -- her blooms and buds have gotten so small! (I fertilized once with Espoma rosetone + do a weeklyish liquid seaweed/homemade nettle feed). Learned a lot from your videos already, so fingers crossed.
I had to look into my email to see where I bought those shoes. They came from Maryland Square website. I have big feet and that website carry big and wide sizes.
I am so glad I discovered your videos and channel. I too have garden rooms. It is amazing what can be done in quite small areas. Looking forward to your next video Olga.
