Thank you so much, I am studying for my QTS Numeracy exam (looking to go into Primary Teaching) and I found this so easy! I generally over complicate ratios so this is a much simpler way of doing it!
I got a Short Cut!
60 sweets
Ration 2:5:3
1ST STEP: 2+5+3 = 10
2ND STEP:60 DIVIDED BY 10 (60/10) = 6
3RD STEP: 6*2=12
6*5=30
6*3=18
So the ratio is 12:30:18
=6

what i am amazed about is how neatly he draws with a mouse. how does he do it so neatly
When you are asked to put a ratio as a fraction do you lose marks if u simply them because my teacher says that you have to put it as what its out of.
Looking at the mark schemes for past papers, it will award the same marks whether you simplify it or not.

Hi. I have watched ALL the surds video and i would like to say thanks and i understand surds about 95 percent the remaining 5 percent is using surds in shapes like on one of the questions on past exams it says 6 over square root 2 on two sides of a right angle triangle and then find the area. The question i seriously dont get. A help with totally be appreciated. Thanks.

i did 40% x 15000= 600 then 3:1:2 x by 600 and my answer is £200

People who don't get the last one:
She has 15000 but has to pay 40% for home pay which is 6,000.
15000 minus 6,000 is 9,000.
So you have 9,000 left so you have to add up your ratios (3+2+1) which equals 6 so you divide 9,000 by 6 which is 1500. Then since the question is how much did Kerry spend on entertainment, which is the 2 in the ratio, you have to double 1500 which is 3,000
But don't you only take away the percentage if it says 'off' not 'of'. It says 'of' in the question so shouldn't you just find 40% of 1500 and not take it away?

step 1: add 2+7=9
step 2: divide 9 with 45=5
step 3: multiply 2x5=10
7x5=35
check if you don't think ur right but how do we check ( add 35 with 10 35+10=45

N Hannan im a year late. But thats because he added the total of the ratios. So if its 7:3 and you share 50 amongst them, then you would do 50 divided by 10. Then multiply the number by each individual ratio to get how much of the total is distributed amongst said ratio

I think that a the question 25 is wrong.
why... because you didn't minus 40% of 15000 her yearly income. then you are left 14400 which she spent on living expenses, clothes and entertainment. ratio 3:1:2 = 6 14400÷ 6= 2400 and the x by entertainment 2 parts = 4800 and this is how much she spent on entertainment that year.
im confused
the method he is using would take too long in the exam. so i'll just stick with the method i have which is more simpler instead of drawing pictures.. :D

The answer to the final question is wrong ? You forgot to take away 40% from the original pay she takes home
15000 x 0.6 = 9000, which is what he used to work out his answer, so it is right
