The Federal Sign and Signal 500DH-TT in Calhan, CO activating for its annual test. This year they tested on their normal date (first Friday in May) but at 10am. They didn't do the 3 minute "all clear" signal after the three 1 minute blast "take cover" signal. - Наука та технологія
I bet ya as long as this siren exists, EVERY year, someone is gonna be making a new video of this sounding off.

Agreed
I love how one side sounds like a 500at while the other sounds like a 500shtt
Most beautiful sounding siren imo love how it’s constantly rotating between an 8 port and 12 port side, creates quite a pleasant harmony. Shame more sirens weren’t made in this unique config
Hi Lo on this siren would be wild tho
@@justmike0000 you wouldnt be able to hear one side in hi-lo
Thank you for rerecording this! I love this eye-level shot. The place where you set up really allows each side of the siren to show their dominance when faced towards you. Awesome video, keep it up!
I’d love to hear a recording from about 1/4 mile away so the alternating pitches could be more easily heard.
Hear is a video about 1 mile away from it

There's a video from somewhere in town during a tornado warning where you can hear it
Nice video of this rare beast.can never get enough of it.
Awesome video dude! That thing sounds as good as ever!
Wow, myself and CoSirenCars were right in front of the town hall. Had no idea you were there too. Glad you got to catch this awesome siren
I was around the corner next to the church so I wasn't shooting against the sun. I wanted to go up the alley some but there was a guy filling the propane tanks in the alley and his truck was making all kinds of noise. I'm pretty sure I drove past you on my way out. I have a red WRX.
@@TylerShawWx Yeah the alleyway would have been a good shot too. But glad you were down here. Wish I could have met you.
Nice Video!! Still sounds like a Beast!!
I love how this is only getting good recordings! Great video!
I kinda want to see this concept done with a 2001 and Equinox.
I haven't seen one like this! Thanks for sharing.
Yeah they are super rare this is 1 of 7 or 6 left in the world currently this is the only known one that is still in operation. And yes it is still here in 2023 as I went to go record a short video of it.
Wow this still works super well to this day. Glad they're still maintaining it. I think this is the only 500-DHTT in the US. I hope Calhan keeps this amazing vintage piece of engineering running for many more years.
There's 7 of them that I know of. This is the only one still in use.
@@TylerShawWx is the one in Nevada at the FD working? Fire siren I assume?
@@tornadoandfiresirensofohio8479 there's more than one. One is supposedly active but is falling apart.
@@TylerShawWx o ok
@@TylerShawWx Where is the 2nd active one? Just curious
I remember hearing this from my house many years ago. We didn't know they tested the siren (or that Calhan had a siren for that matter) so we had no idea what to make of it
man this give me chills
Hope this thing sticks around for a while
The sharp high pitched side almost reminds me of the tone of a Sterling.
We had a test for this today while I was in school it was so fun we got to dance to it lol
I think that this could save everyone from a tornado right away
Great video!
This thing is amazing!
😅😅😊😊sirine 🎉🎉🎉 baherwithery jiuywe 😎
Damn this recording is gorgeous.
Classic siren sounds great
Best recording yet
Yay another recording!
That is awesome!!
So good!
Hey Tyler Shaw Cool 😎Shot Of The Federal Signal 500DH-TT
I'm hoping to drive by here someday and see it test. I would love to see it in person
This baby has the same port ratio as the ACA p50 and cyclone 👏
And super banshee and 8/12 port Allertor
And Soundmaster
Good ole 8/12 ports
#soundmaster115
Damn son that's SWEET
I just found 2 more active ones in ny on the ny siren map, yes it says they are inactive but both have changed directions on street view
lol I remeber back when everyone was calling this a 500AT good video though still healthy as can be. Looks like they finally got a radio on it. I was there once to see it in person and back then it was manually activated,. Great video tyler.
Still activated by a switch inside town hall.
@@TylerShawWx ah the antenna threw me off, must be for something else then.
@@umbrefawx The small antenna is for Calhan Police Dept. They're on the 800MHz trunked system for interoperability. The large antenna is Calhan Volunteer FD. Several VFDs around there operate on the 150-170MhZ (2m band) VHF.
@@djscrizzle Alright, fair enough.
Super Video ❤️❤️👍👍👍👍
I bet this thing sounds awesome from a distance. I bet it alternating between 8 and 12 port makes it distinguishable from a distance more than a regular siren.
I remember hearing it from my house about 20 miles away. Pretty distinguishable for sure
@@thatgaycat 20 miles? Dang!
One of my friends out there heard it from Palomino Dr, which is about 6 miles west of Calhan. That sound most definitely carries well over the open terrain there.
Still going strong.
Has the same low and high pitches as 13 years later
Nice, a classic
She’s a beast!!!
Dang the only ones I've seen were the inactive ones in LA this is so cool!
So this model of 500 is in LA?
@@SylvesterTheSupernatural16Those are 500 SH (Single Horn) Not DH (Dual Horn)
In case I'm wrong, I'll correct it
It sounds like there is a different pitch on both sides
Good brother
Wow 🤩
If only there was a 2t20 siren
That’s good to know it is still there. Hopefully it is staying for a while, as iirc it is the only active 500-DHTT that’s out there
Nope there are 2 active ones in NY
@@BRISTOLFORCE2009 if you are talking about Yonkers, NY then you are wrong. Those are literally inactive and rusted! 😂😂😂 If they were active they would’ve been recorded as literally every siren in NY has been recorded multiple times. Here is a tour of them ua-cam.com/video/XPEuSeyha0U/v-deo.html
@@BRISTOLFORCE2009
And there is 3 500DHTTS AT RENO sparks NV
Anybody ever notice that the 12 port intake cone is longer than the 8 port intake cone.
Now I can't unsee that
I love these weird ass things
This siren reminds me of the 550
No shit Sherlock 😂😂
It almost has a same tone as a P-50
I live in pueblo So if i can I will try to see this beast!
Just make sure to check with the city for the actual test time. They seem to change it year to year. It used to be more consistent.
Aight
@@TylerShawWx also is this siren still here in 2022?
@@TheEST270SPO when did I record it?
@@TylerShawWx am the same person on a different account I finally saw this thing while i was heading to Kansas of course it was when it didn’t test. But yes I saw it! I posted a short on it.
Looks and sounds like a rotating SD-10 on its side going sideways.
The SD-10 only looks and sounds a little different than this siren.
Oh yeah, I noticed
Legit sounds like a P-50. Other than that good recording!
YES I KNOW WHAT A PORT RATIO IS GAWD DAMN PLEASE DONT YELL AT ME ABOUT THAT CRAP
This thing existed long before the P-50 was was thought of.
Also.
Calm.
Down.
Please.
They could paint it dark blue, just saying
how does this thing still exist?
Colorado has a dry climate, it was maintenanced in the 1990s, and it's activated a couple times a year.
Could use a nice repainting...........and the "CD" decals.
Seems like it's basically a horizontal 2T22
Its a horizontal Soundmaster
all three of you are wrong, it's basically an 8 and a 12 port Model 7 sharing the same motor and strapped to a rotator.
It is more of a rotating soundmaster than a 2T22
I feel like federal signal should have used this port ratio on thunderbolt’s, 2T22’s, and model 7’s
@@BRISTOLFORCE2009 So 5/6 and 6? I mean 4/5 port I would say carries further than 5/6 or 5 port because of it’s undertone. It also carries the furthest with a 5M blower
You should record the old sterling in battle creek ne
That's like $40 in gas though
@@TylerShawWx I’ll have to record it sometime then since I live in Norfolk
sounds like a federal signal 2001 and a sentry 40v2t
both of them sound ditherent
this siren is very old that it can be as old as 200,000,000 years old
and this are my favorite sirens❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
this siren turned on 3 times already
Omg I know right
This thing still sounds healthy!
