The Chrysler-Bell Victory sirens of the early 1950s, were rated at 138 dB, and their sound could carry 25+ miles under the right atmospheric conditions!
Wright has a lot of sirens that aren’t 2001s, same with Sherburne to a lesser extent. The reason there are so many is because of Xcel Energy’s nuclear power station in Monticello, which has 2001-SRNs within a ten mile radius of the station.
@ I disagree because vortexes are actually extremely loud because of their low frequency like the other whelens. The 500AT if I recall is quieter so this is a somewhat good replacement
This is a 9/12 500T, and this design was used from 1970 until the siren's discontinuation in 1981. So it's roughly 40-50 years old. The 10/12 500-SHTT uses the same shape but those are from the 1960's.
No, it’s currently licensed to operate until 2030. Xcel is looking to get the license extended to 2040 as of their most recent five year. It could shut down in the near future if something happens, but as of now, it will continue operating for the foreseeable future.
St. Croix County tests their sirens on the first Wednesday of every month at 11AM, all year. The only thing that would get the test cancelled is severe weather conditions in the area.
This peaks like an Allertor but it sounds nothing like one. It is more raspy, with distinct overtones on the wind up/wind down. That’s the thing you get with Federal Signal 9/12 port chopper assemblies. ACA’s are just more punchy and don’t have overtones as they have a directional rotor

The wind up sounds epic! That’s exactly why I love the 500s
Well that's the siren it falls
😢😢😢
Nice to see where the twisted devs got one if the siren sounds from
That ambience is so beautiful.
Dude this has to be your best recording yet!!
a 500 without rotation problems? impossible!
Those sirens are extremely rare to find only 1 town in Tennessee has one it’s Bristol,TN
Nice video! I love these rotational SD-10's!
Sherburne has a siren like this? I had no clue. Guess I'm too used to Wright County being littered with 2001s.

Finally a good recording of this! I still can't believe this exists. How loud was it?
Not very, if I’m being honest. The North Hudson 130 was a lot louder than this was.
123 dB maybe.
@@mnsirens the one that’s in Bristol,TN I heard the siren is capable of being heard upto 8 miles away full power
@@mnsirens dude it sounds like a SD-10 a 2001-SRN is out there
Absolutely amazing nice job!
Update: this is now removed and replaced by a vortex
that sucks. i hate vortex's

Eww
Bristol,TN had that siren and 3 2t22s 1 got removed not sure if it’ll be put back up or not
I want to go film that siren. See if it’s still there
This looks so old. Like one of the earliest sirens FS has made.
Not even close

The Federal Signal Allertor!
More like an older P-10 lol
Federal's version of the iconic Allertor.
!? I’ll have to try and find it someday
nice video!
Isn't Exel Energy shutting down that Plant in Motiicello MN

I LOVE it this video is amazing 👏 😍
Oh my gosh what the freak happened to the horn?
It's worn out because of how old it is. There's paint in it's base to show you how worn out it is.
that may sound like Federal signal SD-10
And ACA allertor
@@ksfAandkhiproductions151 Well allertor and 500at have similar choppers but with the 500AT, SD-10, Model 7T or 5T have the same choppers

Must be about 123 dB.
Yeah that’s about right, although it’s prb more as most dual tone 500s are 125dB I’d say. 9/12 500s seem the quietest to me for some reason
