What I need is a smaller flatbed tow truck, one that has very WIDE tank treads between the front and rear wheels, that can be lowered to the ground so that the tow truck can get un-stuck in the deep snow they encounter, something that happens a lot in the midwest. In a lot of the blinding blizzards, the tow trucks get stuck themselves even when they keep on the pavement. Tracks would help them get unstuck. 6 feet of snow, and even chains and AWD don't do much to help.

Bit of a jazzy video, I would have preferred more time spent with each type rather than the chopping and changing. However an interesting look at modern recovery trucks, I drove a 6 wheeled Scammell ! In the early 1970's.

Tractors - from a very young age I had been shown how to help my Dad make progress with a finger bar mower. You see, we were meant to be cutting hay for a customer farmer but really it was rich green grass lying on the ground, and that current technology was unable to clear itself moving more than a meter through the meadow! With frustration, he put me sitting in the driver's seat, shown all the controls, and said now your driving! He next moves back behind the cutting blade and asked the farmer if he could borrow his hayfork? With hand signals and the hayfork we became a team - forward until it chocked in a bundle, stop - reverse 6 / 10". Dad would clear the chocked grass with 1 or 2 movements of the hayfork and signal me to move on again. This order of working was repeated and we became a team with more efficency as the hours went on. All of this time the farmer stayed 4 steps behind the activity! The new Dexta tractor was introduced at the time with the "LIVE power take off" feature. (P.T.O.) Thankfully we finished that field many hours earlier than normal.

There isn't a Peterbilt Century M100 there have only been 3 made. The First Century M100 was a Kenworth W900. The Second and Third Century M100 were both Kenworth C500. @@danieljacob761 The fourth M100 Rotator was on a Peterbilt 389 Long Hood chassis it has the Underlift on it I don't think it is a Detachable Underlift. M100 Rotator #6 is going to have an Underlift on it. It is supposed to be on a Kenworth C500W Tri-Drive Chassis with a 42 inch Sleeper I talked to someone who works for the company that is supposed to get it. But I don't know about #5.

3:35 - I can't believe the operator actually placed his outrigger on a live carriageway! WTF!?Do you really think that's OK!? If someone lost control of their vehicle and drove straight into the 'outrigger' I very much doubt they would survive! However, if they lost control and just hit the 'Crash Barrier' they would most likely walk away from the accident with minor injuries that's why it is there! So this idiot could quite easily kill someone and probably himself! If someone did hit the 'outrigger' all of the force of the impact would be transmitted through the Truck which would wipe him out too! Unbelievable!!
