The #GenesisG80Sport returns to the lineup for 2022. Built on the redesigned #GenesisG80, the new #G80Sport is the only way to get the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 and it now comes standard with AWD. It’s still not a true BMW M or Mercedes-AMG fighter, but few cars can match its combination of luxury, style, and performance for the money.

Can we just take some time and applaud this team for the work they've been putting in. They covered like 8 vehicles in two days from the Chicago auto show and still find time for a complete review
Thank you and we appreciate that recognition! 🙏🏼💪🏻
he gets paid to upload
@@paladin3116 That doesn't negate my statement, he and the team still put in a considerable amount of work.
@@dtay8913 he does but hes paid
@J in my opinion, youtubers dont. Also this hardly passes as "work" when your able to do what he does for a living
The G80 at first is quite a beauty, but then the Sport version, oh, it's just made it loads more appealing!
I absolutely love this car. Genesis hasn't been known for making engines with great fuel efficiency but I know with a gentle foot on the highway, 28-30 cruising consistently at 70 is definitely possible.
Hey Sofyan, I've watched you since you reviewed the 2013 Kia Optima SX Limited. 9 years later... still watching!
Just saw this car at the auto show and it's stunning. The pictures and video don't do it justice. This has to be seen in person to appreciate. Probably the best looking car there.
As gorgeous as Genesis' exterior stylings are, the interior is my favorite. It's just delicious.
Honestly, Genesis continues to impress me ~~ I don't see a lot of Genesis cars here in Canada, I have seen a GV80 I believe, and the older G80 from 2017. So not a lot of people have it, but I can't deny that Hyundai is killing it with putting so much money into the Genesis brand. The design of the exteriors and interiors are just top notch. I'm Korean myself, and Hyundai has definitely gotten my respect with the Genesis brand~~ :D I'm sure a lot of Koreans in Korea definitely drive this vehicle.
Beautifully styled, high build quality, and a true RWD performer 🙌🏽
Great design that will still look fresh in 10 years.
Gorgeous Vehicle interior and exterior, reliability is a 10. Will take this over all the German competitors. Easily put 300k or 400k on this engine. Genesis should've offered the naturally aspirated v8 as well.
This makes me even more excited for when the new G90 comes to North America
Did u order one?
@@canadianaviator i wish I could but I can't afford it 😆
@@megatronusorionpax4900 Never say you can't afford something work hard at it and you will. I got my first car in 2016 after highschool a 2010 Hyundai elantra for $5,000. Then I saved up and bought a 2014 Hyundai Genesis coupe 2.0T 6speed manual for $17,500. In my last year in uni which is 3 years away, I plan to buy a Kia stinger for full price at $55,000. The older you get the more connections you make in school to find a good job and the money will always follow.
Gorgeous car ... I think the interior of the G80 is better and more luxurious than the BMW 540 and Audi S6 and comparably with the Mercedes E-class. The rims look Uber cool, but that waffle pattern will be pain to clean/detail. Thank God they put a proper 3-spoke steering wheel in it!
The S6 doesn't compete with this. The A6 with the 3.0 does. I think the S6 interior looks better. I mean you get stitching on top of the doors and dash. Its also about $14K more than this.
@@Troy-fv9uq this competes with the s6 as the a6 doesn't have the power. Nor does it have a good interior.
@@AmericanBusinessman422 The S6 has 444hp and costs $80K's - $90K"s. This doesn't compete with that.
The G80 and G90 look like cars that movie villains would drive. Like Cruella Deville or something.💀
Would be cool if you could do a night time review just to show us the lighting package. Ambient lighting in some vehicles look really good at night.
Great review ! She's a beauty 😍 💕. Definitely appreciate the hard work you guys put in every day !!! Keep them coming 👍🏼❤🔥💪🏽
I remembered when I had my Infiniti M45s Infiniti introduced the rear wheel active steering back in 06-07. wayyyy ahead of it's time.
Everything Hyundai aka genesis is doing was already done with Infiniti years ago but everyone wants jump on the Hyundai train at the end of the day it's a real nice Hyundai 😆
@@letdothisman1139 Infiniti is a dead/irrelevant brand. I dont see them selling cars in north america in 5-7 years due to low sales. Buyers have no reason to purchase a infiniti over a genesis or lexus.
Rip
@@paladin3116 Infiniti sells way more cars than Genesis, so I guess Genesis should stop selling cars now 😂😂😂😂🤡
My Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 had rear steering as well. Also variable suspension adjustable, active front and rear wing etc truly waaaayyyyy ahead of it's time
I have seen this g80 sport on the road before and I like it
Interior is just amazing.
OK. Absolute aesthetic perfection.
That "gimicky" feature would be extremely handy for parking garages in Atlanta. The spaces are all tiny!
I love that people are never pleased
It use to be “ too bad it’s not LED” and now that everything has LED its “ too bad it’s not sequential”
I’m sure when that comes to be standard something else will pop up for people to complain about
That's a lot like the Car Play complaints.. now that all cars have it.. "but it's not wireless"
Their needs are simple. They want it all!
Ayeeee it's finally watchable
That color just STUNS me , anything that is not Black white gray (all the same color) which makes up over 70% of all sales out there . Very beautiful sedan really the sedan market Is astonishingly amazing 👏 wish more folk had a heart to enjoy life and enjoy 4 less inches 🙃
@ 15:25 It's important to note that this engine is both direct-injected -and- port-injected. And at 4,497 lbs, this thing weighs about as much as the prior G80 sport despite extensive use of aluminum, unlike the prior model which was all steel. I also bet the old G80 Sport is actually a tad faster than this newer one. This one seems to suffer from more turbo lag at launch.
Car and Driver just tested it and it's actually faster than the old one. Faster than the 540i and A6 3.0T too.
@@gasstation405 That's true. All three are pretty even. Benz is slightly quicker. Big difference though is fuel economy. Since the others offer more efficient and smoother I6 engines or V6 along with mild hybrid which allows them to get around 30% better fuel economy.
Loving the videos brother! This car is a beauty👍
Nice review Sofyan! But is it really "premium required" or just premium recommended? I happen to know that in other markets it does not require premium fuel and it's the same engine.
Nearly all Genesis vehicles require premium fuel. The manual doesn't say that premium fuel is required but it says that it's recommended & it doesn't mention anything about the use of other fuel products.
@@mutualdecline2174 I was just wondering because in other markets, these engines take regular fuel. It's an important consideration, say in Canada, where premium fuel is roughly 30 percent more expensive.
I would highly recommend premium as its turboed. Will avoid knock later.
love your reviews... I special ordered a 2022 g80 sport in matte gray with red interior..but with this video.. although you Stated you liked it... it also seemed like you weren't that impressed with the g80. You're usually more excited with other vehicles.
i feel like i need to trade in my 2021 TLX S.... Acura feels so cheap vs Genesis. I looked at one yesterday, puts my Acura to utter shame
I have a TLX as well and Genesis is going to be my next brand, most likely the G80 as well. TLX is a great all around car but Acura has really fallen imo. I just love the luxury that doesn't break your pocket.
The old model with the pearl blue still a dream car
Buy one it's gonna be like $20k now 😂
@@VaunShiz a g90 3.3t is about 20k the g80 still pricier
@@VaunShiz *$35k
It looks absolutely gorgeous
Exactly
I knew I seen this on my notifications earlier lol
Yup, we had to re-upload it due to an error 😬
Interior is gorgeous
The problem with this car is that you won’t be able to tell if this is a sport on the road, they should’ve put quad exhausts, and also I hope Genesis offers this thing with more power in the future to compete with that M5 and E53.
M5, E63, and RS6 all compete against each other. Genesis will never makes a sedan that costs around 100K like those vehicles do. All those vehicles have over 500HP. The E53 competes with the Audi S6 and BMW M550. Those vehicles all have at least 444 HP. Those vehicles cost 85K+. Genesis wont compete with that.
@@Troy-fv9uq Genesis has priced the G80 sport up to $70k so why not offer something with more power to compete with the AMG, M series and s line.
@@joshuaf5515 because I don’t believe they have the money. They also don’t have the brand name the Germans have had for decades. This G80 has been through 2 generations and still hasn’t outsold any of the Germans in each year. Sedans are a dying breed too everywhere except for German sedans. The 3 series, C class, and A4 still sell a lot each year.
The E450 is the quickest in actual instrumented testing, and you can tell that the transmission is still slow in this car. I like this car a lot, but they needed to do a little bit more to truly match the competition performance wise.
It'll all be moot rather soon. The full EV of this will be out this year, and then shortly thereafter will be the only one available.
It’s just a sport version not a full blown performance car. Chill
Agreed. My E450 is being built in March. ;-)
They are both mid 4 second 0-60 and low 13s qtr mile
They beat the Germans on luxury, they didn't go for the uselessness of a sporty sedan.
VERY nice, but I think the overlooked/underappreciated unicorn that this competes with is the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V (non-Blackwing), which has comparable performance figures, fairly less standard equipment, but a significant $15k price disparity (CT5-V starts at $50k compared to this at $65k). Even when comparably equipped the Cadillac still costs thousands less even after factoring an (optional) extra cost extended factory warranty to mirror the Genesis (for the few who plan to buy and not lease)... I personally think both are virtually equally attractive looking sedans, although I give a definitive nod towards the Genesis in terms of interior design/materials/attention to detail, but I'd question if that's enough for the substantial price bump by comparison.
Oh absolutely I think this is just getting the attention because this closely competing with the Europeans and the Caddy is off doing its own crazy thing. But yeah the CT5-v definitely is a super underrated car. Like SUPER underrated to the point where most consumers don't even know it exists.
Anybody that can afford these probably doesn’t care about that price gap
@@Playb0ymari Maybe not if the price gap was a few hundred or even a couple thousand, but over $10k is worth at least sleeping on in my opinion (and neither of these are Bentley's or Rolls Royce's where $10-15k would be equivalent to pennies for 99% of buyers mind you). The Genesis is a very nice car though like I said, just not the value leader it's presented as.
lol the interior is a massive gap, and Cadillac quality control is a joke. Expect the caddie ready for the graveyard 5-8 years in. Consumer reports for cadillacs is awful and I owned a cts and it was a massive lemon. Never again.
Genesis is doing big things! The only question that comes to mind is their reliability especially with Hyundai’s newest recall about random combustion fires.
Guess we'll have to check back in 5-10yrs after these new engines have some miles on them.
Their newer engines doesn't have those effects since it's all new. Hyundai reliability is strong.
Genesis reliability is a 10 better then lexus. Lexus is number 2 on the list.
Aaaaaand BMWs are catching on fire, too. What in the world?!
The all electric version of the G80 is already on sale in Korea. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to get it.
Still no one will buy it, they didn't release it in the US because it will get destroyed by Tesla , why do you think Hyundai and Kia got EVs first, before Genesis? Uh cuz they don't complete with Tesla 😂 and Tesla are garbage
@@VaunShiz HMG always releases their new models here in Korea first, so this is nothing new.
It's a little bit old thinking to try to compare every EV to a Tesla. Years ago there was just Tesla. Today, more people are buying a wide variety of EVs from all sorts of brands; luxury and mainstream. Depending on how they price it for the US market will determine whether people buy it. It's a fantastic car. Here, it's really a bit overpriced.
@@VaunShiz But fast.
Where’d you get that G80 tester from? I see Cali plates but you mentioned you’re in PA. Furthermore, I know those exact roads!! Lol I live 10 minutes away and work in sales at Genesis of York. Had me thinking we let you do this video in our car but we haven’t seen a 2022 model yet, plus of course the Cali tag
Kinda has that Elantra and Sonata look and side profile....looks kinda cool
Do a full review of the Audi Q8 next
I love your car reviews - honest and crisp
Can you suggest if prado 4 liters is a good buy in 2022? Tried checking reviews from you for Prado but could not find it
I loved watching you play with it in the snow! Looks like it would be fun!
Picking up my silver one on Wednesday picked it up first g80 sport in South Texas on the road
I need to test drive it. 10 years of warranty is something to consider now days
I’m feeling old. I remember when you could get a fully loaded midsize car for 30K.
the seats look awesome
When he was doing donuts in the snow I bet Genesis was thinking 🤬 ! 🤣
I don't understand why people are still buying an A6, when the G80 is better in any way. Including price. I can understand that the BMW is a bit more fun to drive, but i don't think it worth the price difference. That even before talking about reliability of the German cars.
I have a gv80 and I have to say I never use car play. The car itself Have a great system and I feel like I am downgrading to car play when I use it
My dream car 💯!! Wish I could afford it. One day!!!!!
Genesis is on 🔥...
with their style and tech.
Too bad the didn’t continue the amber signals at the rear. Great Looking !
Just knowing one of these is in PA makes me happy.
Great looking car. The seats remind me of the pattern of the body suit Jennifer Lopez wore in The Cell.
Loving the momentum Sof
Amazing car. Why does Kia/Hyundai/Genesis so behind in the wireless Carplay? It’s weird since they have the latest tech on their models, but really behind with this.
Granted, it looks great but it's all cosmetic. They haven't up the power to match the "sport" classification. Why didn't they add the 48-volt hybrid system, as they did in the G90? This would boost the horsepower to 420-HP then it would truly live up to the name "sport". Were they just looking at the added price? Disappointing.
Looks like a great replacement for my Lexus GS
Finally. 💪🏻😎 Yes!.
Thanks for this video!.
I wish the Stinger GT came with this power from factory, that extra little umph is all it needs
It does if you get the 3.3TT V6 ..just as fast as this car.
Them wheels!
No!
The grill was more than enough now we have them wheels?

Woohoo, gorgeous 😍 interior design!!
Wow…freaking gorgeous
You can always paint the calipers........Is the rear still a single sliding piston?......I'm not a fan of rear wheel steering......Just noticed that I have the same license plate frame......
The 2022 G80 has a · Leatherette wrapped/stitched Upper Inst. Panel, not leather....Genesis stopped using leather for the dash in 2017 or 2018.
If Sofyan were to review my life, it would not have a relatively solid sounding thunk.
Hyundai has come along way and I give them credit for that. But the issue with a car like this G80 Sport is the price for what it is. The people in the market for a car like this, the people with over 60K to spend on a car, won't buy a Genesis. Especially if this said Genesis is sold at a Hyundai dealer and your car will be serviced next to a Hyundai that is less than 20K. Much of the luxury market is about customer service. Hyundai really needs to find their niche. The German has got the luxury and wealthy buyers on lock and the Japanese has the reliably and trust on lock.
Genesis stand-alone s are being built and some already open. G80 is already at a sales momentum over the A6 in 2022. So the comments aren’t agreeing with the real life dealership sales despite what you believe. You are right about the dealer experience though
@@Playb0ymari My post is being objective. I didn't say Genesis didn't have stand-alones not being built. I said they they f'd up when they decided not to do that in the start. The are barely any stand-alone dealers from what I can tell. I live in a metro area with close 8 million and we don't even have 1 genesis dealer. All of them are in Hyundai stores. This is still a problem for them until they have 150 dealers running which won't happen for years or close to a decade. Also - you are lying about your numbers. G80 sold about 405 units so far and there are no public numbers shown for 2022 Audi A6. Previous recorded numbers are 900s for Dec 2021. Judging by previous sales, the G80 will NEVER sell more than the A6. A6 sells about 20K units a year. The G80 from 2021 sold only 6K units. Are you telling me Genesis will have a 14K unit jump for the year 2022? That's sales of over 100% increase. Don't kid yourself. Genesis is getting better but they aren't selling Audi numbers. They aren't even selling Acura/Infiniti numbers yet.
“Hyundai vehicle” that line only bothered the heck out of me
Factory navigation works very well in other models.
What is up with Kia Hyundai and Genesis not offering wireless Android auto and carplay on the larger screens
Can it be driven in true manual mode, holding gears until you shift with the paddles? The previous G80 did not allow that.
Very Nice Bro! Get Good People!

As an acura fanboy, i want to say i like the tlx type s better, but im not so sure that is true.... This car looks great in and out, but i think the back end looks cheap...but the G70 doesnt have that issue to me. Of course acura has that inforainment that no one likes. Well done genesis, but i like the G70 better

Not considering the horsepower and weight. In the muscle car era, cars with 375 horse got less than half that in the city.
