Tis is awesome! I have been looking into getting a Teddy Ruxpin but am still not familiar with all the different types and only just realized they dont all work after all this time. I wish they had come out with this version at the time. So cool.

Would you make a step by step tutorial with components you used? That would be great! Amazing work

Great work man! Have you thought of going with pico/nano servos for the head? Seems like everything is pretty "beefed up" in there. Where did you pick up the bracketry and gears for the body lean?

They have to support a fairly good amount of weight, his head isn't balanced on the universal joint and most is supported by the servos, which is why I went with standard servos - although I didn't do the math, smaller may have been sufficient! The brackets and servo gearboxes are from servo city.

Aaron , still great work. I work at Universal Orlando. We have a lot of animation, you would be a perfect fit to work on the stuff here!

Hey Arron I have an original 1985 TR. Do you have any blueprints on this build

    Hi there, amazing job!
    Do you have any blueprint?
Are there servos inside the neck?
Is the one on the bottom rotating the shaft a D645MW as well like the other 2 in the torso?

How much does it cost to get a commission for this? I would like to give you my ruxpin for this purpose.

Hi Aaron, what a brilliant job! I just bought a Teddy Ruxpin first version from 1985 with metal player and I was wondering if you have a program to record custom tracks by recording your custom PPM data for movements on the right track and whatever audio you like on the left track, singing etc... How can I generate custom PPM data that I can synchronise with the left standard audio track (by using the original servos, therefore without modifying Teddy)? Many thanks and keep up the great job!

Hmm, I don't know of a program that would do that. I used a Teensy processor and the PulsePosition Library to decode the original data. BUT, that library also has an encoder, so I bet a simple circuit could be made to translate that encoded PPM to line-level audio! So in theory, a program like VSA could be used to sync audio up with position information that is sent as serial data to a Teensy then encoded with the PPM library and recorded in real time to a cassette along with the audio. Shew, that's a lot, but I bet could be done! I wonder if there would be a small niche market for that, haha.

Aaron many thanks for your reply. I know lots of folks on teddy ruxpin forum that would like to achieve something like that. Would you be able to try if it works in your free time? I just use an MP3 tape adapter with mine. Thanks

In your opinion what device did the original maker (Wow) use to generate PPM?
I guess they also had a joystick to synchronise Teddy movements with the singing.
Would be nice to replicate something like that.
If you run tests please let me know, very interesting! Thanks

Hey I'm a bit stupid so if you could maybe put a list of all the parts and where to buy them and then maybe explain step by step how to build it like an idiot's guide that would be great
