Does anyone else remember this show being officially billed as an Office spin off? Not just like “this was supposed to be” but like I remember a Rolling Stones blurb about this calling it an Office spin off and addressing it by the name it ended up with. I remember waiting for episode 1 as an Office spin off and wondering why Rashida had a different character and how it was related after.
Yeah, I remember that. I didn’t even like The Office (UK) but I still downloaded the first season of Parks & Rec for some reason. And I didn’t really like that first season… but maybe a year later I tried again and season 2 of Parks was much better, and the show really took off with the introduction of Chris and Ben. And now when I rewatch season 1 I enjoy it as well because I know where the characters are going and I better understand the humour (mainly the camera situation). I mean, Ron wasn’t much of a character in the first season but when you know what he becomes later on you can already enjoy him in anticipation. Parks and Rec is now in my top three of sitcoms.
The closest thing they did was a blink-and- you'll-miss-it reference. At the end of season 2 Mark says he's going to work for Norton construction and in season 7 when they're looking at the buildings to transform into Gryzll there's a sign for Norton construction in the background.
They share similarities, Nick did experimental theater which Ron would puke at and Aubrey in another full cast interview begged the show runner not to say she’s the most like her character.
I hate when people act like the first seasons of Parks and the Office are just known as bad. The first of Parks was funnier than some of the later ones, way funnier than S7. And it was so much more real, as every single character didn’t have some absurd level of personal and professional success. They depicted much closer versions of actual offices than later on. Also season 1 of the Office had the greatest episode ever and one of the best comedy episodes in history. Seinfeld was different in season 1 because they screwed it over multiple times and they barely got those original episodes on. And George wasn’t telling it straight, he was doing what he always did - acting like he knows something or how people work and then it fails miserably. Getting 6 episodes back then wasn’t almost a full season like it is now, it was seen as a sign of nobody important caring about the show. Episode 1 aired as a special like a year before the rest of S1.
@matheusprdg well he kept stating that the first season is no good, which is pretty disrespectful. He also asked pointed questions such as "how disappointed were you to not get Emmys" or "how worried are you on not getting renewed" which were rude, and it only didn't get awkward as Amy and the cast were such good sports and responded with humor
@matheusprdg Thanks, I think this has less to do with one's interpretation of English but rather cultural norms, for example, the exact same words can convey quite differing sentiments in the UK vs. the US. I believe the reason some of us take issue with the hosting is that the moderator was supposed to play the role of the "fan," since he is the one asking questions in place of them for the enjoyment of the audience. And some of the questions he asked (as I pointed out), while not out of place in a production meeting where people are asked to defend their work, can come across as passive-agressive given that the cast are here to share with those who adored the show. Again reasonable people may well disagree on my interpretation here; I'm just basing my feelings as a fan on my understanding of American cultural norms.
Hairy Bum Jr. The first season is pretty universally panned...otherwise the questions were honest, and better than just ass kissing for an hour. I highly doubt the questions werent pre-approved anyway
i was just watching all of these

Then Jerry ruined it

And Bull Murray did play the mayor! And Ben and LCK's character had scenes together. They must value her ideas lol

Dude, Jim O’Heir is so fucking funny in real life

Isnt this that reporter that gets along with aubrey ?? Like he seems to know to talk to her
They were very sneaky getting Aubrey away from the Biden question lmao.
ua-cam.com/video/GrUQYIwCN74/v-deo.html She answered the question! i don’t know why they cut it out here
Rhetta is so funny!!!
Don't worry - Patton Oswalt has been the future mediator on more than one occasion. X
does anybody knows if there are any parks and rec table reads to watch?
yes just search it
This guy is a great moderator! Love how he balanced it out.
So why did the Venezuelans keep taking pens?
Paul Schneider never did come back...and they literally never mentioned him at all
He was the worst character tho
@@Alex12CR Yeah, I agree, but it would've been nice to mention him to be respectful to Paul, despite Mark being the most boring straight guy ever.

@@spideylover4105 Nice catch!
@@Alex12CR Because he was written as an actual human being and not a weirdo or joke machine. He didn’t write the character.
Nick got away with saying very little lmao. Tho multiple of them did. Cracked me up.
Who dressed Chris Pratt?
Andy obviously
Good Content Bro

Amy's dress is soo gorgeous!
The moderator is really obsessed with Amy
Can you really blame him?
Was this really filmed in 2011?
Yes! the show was only 3 years old at that time
Damn can't believe they were planning to cast Bill Murray all along.
Funny how nobody remembered any of these good ideas during the creative drought that was the post election seasons
Named?
Where do they find these horrible interviewers?
Tight
Dang Miss Jones... At 3:47 it had me rewinding just to hear more of what was said. 😉
Honestly minus aziz and Jim everyone’s character is just their actor on steroids

i like s1 as well. basically what you said about it being real and calm
The first season was bad 👎
Horrible moderator . What makes tv writers think they can do this?
He is more embarassing than the fans asking questions
Moderator is the woooorrrssst !!!
What a terrible moderator...
Why? What was wrong with him?
He's not funny and incredibly condescending for starters

god the moderator is unbearable..
Leslie is more talkative in this one
Impestuous? Lol.. Pretty sure there is only one "S" in the word that was meant to be said. Come on "writer" 😆
