Julie Andrews is my favorite actress. Johnny Depp, Jim Carrey, & Robin Williams are my favorite actors. I think Julie Andrews (when she was younger of course) would have made a perfect Cinderella.
If I remember correctly she was actually Cinderella on Hammerstein's show on Broadway😁

I've always wondered how is it that they manage to sing beautifully at the end of their very first singing lesson... 🤔😁
Can’t relate
Dame Julie Andrews. She has that effect.
@@MartyMusic777 did u mean damn?
@@angelsparklez7138 Nah - 'Dame' as in her title.
I think the older children had some memory of their mother loving music
Hats off to those who arranged the song including the instrumentalist. Powerful piece of music. Simple yet elegant
That would be composer Richard Rogers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II.
It was Irwin Kostal
Go wonder. 😅
*_I can smell the nostalgia in it_*
My sister and I loved practically grew up on this movie, so I know what you mean.
This song is on Wii music
for some reason this is my favorite scene in the whole movie. maybe it's because this is the turning point of the kids really bonding with Maria.
I doubt the kids have as much fun with other governesses they had since their mother died.
Maria was so different from the other governesses. they all left because they misunderstood the children. they thought the children were badly behaved. Maria understood that all the children wanted was to have fun and have their father's Love.
Whoever created and arranged this song, well bloody done.
Rodgers & Hammerstein!!

It's not a 100% British accent, it's like a perfect mix
@@dannyjorde2677 perfect mix of what? She is British...
@@ishineandburn I think it's supposed to be a trans-Atlantic accent or something.

Just some fun trivia for you
In Japanese, the lyrics are
Do is for donuts
Re is for Lemon (Japanese has no "L")
Mi is for "minna" (Japanese for "everyone")
Fa is for fight
So is for "aoi sora" (Japanese for "blue sky")
Ra is for "rappa" (Japanese for "trumpet")
Shi is for "shiawase" (Japanese for "happiness" -- Japanese doesn't have "ti" except in loan words)
Well then, let's sing
I think what is not in Japanese is the R sound, not the L sound
@@user-fg6xi2jf3s Japanese has an R sound, it's just not the same as the standard English R sound. It is the R sound known as a tap or a flap, which is also present in many other languages, and even certain English dialects.
Does anyone notice how fast and powerful the song becomes at 1:56!

The national anthem for learning music no doubt about that and also interestingly used in music class in schools!

ジュリーの伸びやかで透き通った歌声はいつ聴いても涙が出ちゃうほどに心を震わせてくれます🥰🥰
I'm obsessed with this movie ever since I had watched it in Drama. @_@
Im 33 and I am in the middle of watching it for the first time. Such a joy! I'm so disappointed that i missed this in my childhood
i did this as well at my castaway group i was friar smith
Julie is a literal icon
The actual impact of this movie on popular culture is ignored
Beautiful song!!! I can't forget this part in the movie... My childhood memories.. best notes to sing then and now as adult 😂🤣😂
4:15 is my absolute favorite part 😍
Anyone here in 2021? ☺️My newborn son absolutely loves this song, gets him to sleep every time!
Memorizing names of notes is as useful in learning to sing as diagramming sentences is in learning to speak.
when I first saw this movie for the first time on VHS with my family I thought this scene took place in a single day. I remember thinking: the kids are fast learners.
now that I am older I realize that this scene takes place within the passage of time. the captain is away in Vienna for a while.
I learned this song as a freshman in high school! Back when such things were important!
Some of the best advice I’ve ever had and keep rethinking comes from this song.
“Let’s start at the beginning, a very good place to start.”
Julie Andrews and her singing voice though ✨
Every time I hear this song I always have to sing along that's when you know it's a good song
I remember on my flight to Australia, i left the soundtrack for this on my headphones and fell asleep... later on Do-Re-Mi was playing and I thought "What am I listening to...?? Oh yeah that's right!"
Game show host: "Do re me fa so la ti-"
Contesant: "Shirt!"

“La, La, the song inside your head!”
References how a lot of people, especially kids, sing “La La La” to tunes when they can’t remember the words.
It took me like 5 minutes to come up with that. Poor La.
Let's start at the very beginning
A very good place to start
When you read you begin with A-be-see
When you sing you begin with do-re-mi
Do-re-mi, do-re-mi
The first three notes just happen to be
Do-re-mi, do-re-mi
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti
Let's see if I can make it easy
Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do (oh-oh-oh)
Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do
So-do!
Now children, do-re-mi-fa-so and so on
are only the tools we use to build a song
Once you have these notes in your heads
you can sing a million different tunes by mixing them up
Like this
So Do La Fa Mi Do Re
Can you do that?
So Do La Fa Mi Do Re
So Do La Ti Do Re Do
So Do La Ti Do Re Do
Now, put it all together
So Do La Fa Mi Do Re, So Do La Ti Do Re Do
Good!
But it doesn't mean anything
So we put in words
One word for every note
Like this
When you know the notes to sing
You can sing most anything
Together!
When you know the notes to sing
You can sing most anything
Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to Do
Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do
Do Ti La So Fa Mi Re
Do Mi Mi
Mi So So
Re Fa Fa
La Ti Ti
When you know the notes to sing
You can sing most anything
Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow Sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to
Do So Do
Re La Fa
Mi Mi Do
Fa Re
So So Do
La La Fa
Ti La So Fa Mi Re
Ti Do oh oh Ti Do So Do
Thank you!
What a classic song!
5:24 Julie Andrews brought down the house with a high note to end it.

The kids, before this song: "We don't know how to sing!”
Liesl, 20 minutes before this song: *I aM sIxTeEn GoInG oN sEvEnTeEn-*
I have loved this movie since I was 6 years old.
uhh why do the last few seconds always make me cry...
Here's something really helpful for begginers - despite what the title would have you think, this song is in the key of A#, because she's teaching them by using the "Movable Do" system, in which "Do" is whatever note is the root of the key, "Re" is the one next to it, and so on.
DEMIGAY, MIGHT GET BACK TO YOU IN A WEEK IF THIS COMMENT STILL MAKES NO SENSE TO ME
Love this movie ❤ and all the songs in it.

Thank you for posting this beautiful song. :)
Such a wonderful movie, full of catchy songs to tryn sing along with ❤❤
This has been my favorite scene in the movie since I saw the movie with my family on V.H.S when I was only six years old. The kids really start bonding with Maria in this scene. I doubt the kids had this much fun with the other governesses they had since the death of their mother.
Also I think Maria understood the children more then the other governesses did. The other governesses did not understand the children. They left because they thought the children were badly behaved. Maria understood the children just wanted their father's love.
another way I think Maria was different from the former governesses was that when Maria arrived one of the children put a toad in her pocket. she did not tell the captain what the children did because she did not want them to get in trouble with their father. in contrast to Maria I think former governesses would have told the captain
My first song in my life I really watch the movie every minute I love it

Yeah but only if you wanna sing a song in c major when did you teach em bout sharps and flats cause they definitely use them later
What does c major have to do with it? The Do-Re-Mi approach can apply to any key right? Do is always the first note of the key, Re is always second, mi, third, etc. It's about intervals, and you can hear that in the intervals itself. I think do-re-mi is actually used in fact precisely when you are changing keys. Like the interval between do and re is always two half steps, regardless of the key. The distance from ti back to do is always a half step (i.e., a sharp).
The formula for sharps is already in the Do-Re-Mi intervals: Do to Re = whole step; Re to Mi = whole step; Mi to Fa = half step; Fa to Sol = whole step; Sol to La = whole step; -La to Ti = whole step; Ti to Do = half step.
