I had 3 different types of Xavier figures. I had the classic yellow wheelchair, the red mind warrior, and the one where he sports a leather jacket without a wheelchair. I don't know why I had so many, and I really did want the movie figure, but every single model in my store had cocked eyes. It was a hard pass for 14 year old comic book obsessed me for the time. It's a shame because Patrick Stewart did a great job of being Xavier, and a cool action figure would've cemented his status as legendary.
I used the Sabretooth as my self-insert when I play toys with my friend. He used the civilian Logan figure. They were both leaders of a superhero team that also had MASK, Power Rangers and Star Wars toys. The dismembered cop was the security guard of our base who was always sleeping.
1:25 the idea that there had to have been at least one parent who took their kid to see the movie after getting them toys of it just to see the movie start with the holocaust is a very funny scenario to me
So true they did it with the arms as well i remember going back into a comic shop around 2016/2018 cuz i haven't been in ages i was so pissed at how good figures had become i was like where was sabertooth comic accurate figure when i was little 😂
I remember having the first Professor X figure. I would always use him as Lex Luthor and have him fight Superman and Batman and join forces with a short Riddler. The Sabertooth figure I also remember fondly.
I don't know what you're talking about. I have fond memories of playing with my telekinetic dominatrix and her gelatinous senator accessory. Honestly though, I did love these figures. I liked weird toys, and this figure line fit the bill.
The one scene that made me enjoy and have a crush 🥰 on Rebecca Romijn as Mystique more than Jennifer Lawrence is the Mystique bar scene because damn dude, I mean her human form as Grace is sooooo fine especially the Fox Films Mystique has the great Rebecca Romijn likeness which is better than the old terrible Toybiz one in terms of things.
I remember being a kid and buying the Logan and Magneto two-pack from this line. When I opened the box, both of Wolverine's arms snapped off. Also, I remember Wolverine's face having different weird molding issues on all the copies of the Wolverine and Sabertooth two-pack. Don't get me started on the cheap hollow feel and terrible paint. These legitimately feel like knock-offs.
It's not that they *couldn't* make hyper-articulated figures with good paint apps, as hyper-articulated figures with great paint apps were all over the place, from the 1960's - 1980's and even up to most of the 90's. But for whatever reason, toy companies just decided to start making their figures look ridiculous, starting in the laste 90's and 2000's era, with stuck poses that limited play and more of a focus on stupid gimmicks. It was a step backwards from the sophisticated figures of the decades before. Toy companies just got cheap and weird when video games started becoming more popular than action figures at this time.
Yeah, I definitely remember being annoyed with a lot of the poses with my action figures as a kid. Toy companies really, really, REALLY loved making figures with a permanent uppercut fist pose back then lol
I got my hands on that uniform claw slashing action wolverine, and it was fun lololol. Awesome video! Didn't realize the time line of these figures, that they were right before Marvel Legends, and the tv ads were really similar to 90s style toy ads lol
THANK YOU for finally showing all of these figures in detail, I remember very well when they sold it here in Brazil on many department and toy stores back then!
For the time some of them were pretty good, I actually think Cyclops, Magneto, Mystique and the civilian Wolverine that came with Rogue in the two-pack were pretty good, as were Jean and Storm. The Jean Grey was good enough to be a stand-in for a Jean until they started making Marvel Legends figures, really. 🤷♂️ Also, the concept figure of Rogue in her X-suit was cool too, your standards are too high for toys that came out almost twenty-five years ago.
The first X-Men movie is still a great memory from my childhood! I had a lot of these figures! The only thing that's still in good condition is the Blackbird jet. Surprisingly, my regular comic-accurate X-men figures fit in it quite well! Great video! I look forward to seeing you cover the figures from the rest of the Fox X-Men series!
This takes me back. I had 10 of the figures from the first wave along with Rogue and the vehicles from the second wave. The sculpts and articulation were all over the place.
I had the majority of these growing up. That X-jet would go off by itself in the middle of the night and it was LOUD. Brought back some good memories seeing these featured though
I actually got the Sabertooth figure of eBay because of the Cop figure. The whole collapsing feature sounds cool for a stunt figure., except of course the whole mechanism of it no longer works. The only way it works is if you apply some low quality Krazy glue like I did and then knock it down (by accident in my case) and then it falls apart again. Still is a good figure to sit on a spare Cop car or just have extra cop figures to knock down for displays,.. all while having done eating at Dunkin donuts.
I had a lot of the X-Men movie figures as a kid. They were super freaking fun to play with. Particularly, Storm with her giant lightning stand, Mystique and the goopy government official, and Wolverine's motorcycle's springy rockets.
17:20 Rogue is actually a repaint from an earlier figure. The Anna Paquin head is new but the body is the X-Men Secret Weapon Force Power Slammers Rogue body. The armor pieces are actually from a Shi'ar costume Rogue wore in the comics for a few issues. I know this because one of those issues was the first X-Men comics I owned as a kid. (Uncanny X-Men #343) The costume (and Power Slammers toy) is supposed to be mainly pink and yellow with some silver and white accents but here, they just painted the whole thing mostly black.
@@theramblinmahoney2316I had those, it was even better when the rubber on the faces perished and their eyes and teeth started fully popping out of their skin. I specifically remember having a Rogue action figure that would have Wolverine's claws come out of her back when you pushed a button on her stomach or something.. Looking forward to seeing her in Part 2 maybe!
I had that Wolverine and Sabretooth two pack where they had mechanical heads that were covered with rubber faces. You would move a lever on their back and the mouths would open. They were pretty cool when they were new. But as obvious in the video here, the rubber breaks down over time.
The Kenner Aliens and Predator figure lines were pretty crazy back in the early 90's. Mine and my friends parents would buy these for us but we're absolutely NOT going to sanction watching the movies they were based on. Newsflash to them we did anyway!
I had an x-2 wolverine action figure, which had like a rubber face that scowled when you pulled a lever on back. Thing was I lost track of it one day, somehow it got behind my bed by the radiator, and his face melted looking more like the hunchback of Notre dame
Can’t wait for part 2, it would be awesome if you covered all the Toy Biz Spider-Man figures from the Sam Raimi movies, those were a big part of my childhood.
I remember back in the day I had Arctic Sabertooth and Cyclops in his civvies. I sadly lost his visor between the crevices of our family van at the time and frankly I'm still a little pissed I never managed to get it back.
they def don't hold up but its just wild to see the evolution of the toyline (x2 line got some bangers) and yeah, the mystique wolverine skin suit is nasty 😭
It's funny the ragdoll effect they used for the security guard was reused for the 2005 King Kong toys, almost all of the creatures except for King Kong, but it worked better with those. I had the X-Cycle set, traded the wolverine years ago at a flea market and kept the bike for a Duke Nukem Figure, the gimmick broke.
I remember these! I was so excited when the movie came out, the promo was insane. Seeing the toys just made it all the more better. I had the bra versions of jean and storm lol had no idea there were other variants. Dope throwback! Thank you for this stroll down memory lane.
