I can comment as a blue light driver myself, albeit working for the ambulance service. Good days and bad days, good drivers and bad drivers.
From experience, people tend to react better at night, on the basis that lights are much more noticeable and are seen further away. I've followed someone for 2-3 miles before they've noticed us and that's using multiple siren tones, headlight flashes and different vehicle positions.
I'm some cases if you don't move and an officer sees this, you may be considered for driving without due care and attention. Hope this helps.

Seems a bit off that they let some people off but others and new young drivers receive the full 6 points and £200 fine which loses their license if they are within their first 2 years of driving. I got a question about that speed calibration device. How long would the police have to be behind you for it accurately record your speed ? Would they have to engage it to record your speed, or would it automatically just record it ?

I don't know about these car but the vans camera can detect any vehicles which are going over the speed for 100 meters

Retired cop here. For those reading who enjoy speeding consider this. The worst job is delivering a "death message" to the family of motorists killed in accidents. You literally watch their whole lives disintegrate in front of your eyes in less than one minute. Speed Kills but it also destroys the lives of families left behind.

Active paramedic working in the country without general speed limits on the highway here: within years of service at a station next to two of the busiest highway sections I've come across only a single fatal accident. It took place on a rural road and was in suicidal intention.
All the other accidents, especially those on the highways, ended with only minor or even no injuries at all. Most accidents don't even involve EMS. Most serious accidents with someone being injured involve slow vehicles, like vans, trucks etc. Also the general accident statistics show the greatest number of fatal accidents happen on rural roads with a speed limit, not on the highways with no speed limit for most parts of it.
Most patients EMS transports to the ER after an accident are only to check them up, exclusion for injuries we can't see or detect.
