- Yep, the final boss. A fantastic ending to an amazing franchise, I enjoyed replaying it very much in Mega Man Zero Collection. This video proves I am not the best player, proven by my fails in the second form (anybody notice that he only used one move in the first form...?). I feel I shoulda finished with the Z-Saber..not that axe weapon.
Note: I made a video cut during the credits, when this was recorded, it was way back when the video limit was 10 minutes, hence the cut, but I still left the ending CG in there.

I love how poetic this final moment of Z4 is on so many levels.
Capcom really seems to love the age-old story of the Dragon and the Phoenix and I don't blame them one bit. It's more than just an old story to anyone who's heard of it. It's an ideal. A symbol of why we fight.
X is just like the Dragon who refuses to yield and Zero is like the Phoenix who rises from the ashes of defeat. But that's a big part of what makes X and Zero so unique. They don't want to be the Dragon or the Phoenix. X wants to stop fighting and Zero doesn't know anything but fighting.

At the end of Zero 4, Zero finally declares what he’s fighting for to Weil, and then breaks all the other laws of Robotics in order to follow the Zeroth law. Although by his own account, that wasn't why he did that. Not allowing humanity to be harmed was just a bonus.
What makes Zero's final moments even more poetic is how X was created with the ability to essentially have the soul of a human, and the laws of Robotics were something he could willingly break, but he never did. Zero was honoring X by doing something he never could.
And here's another thing: Wily used those same laws on Rock in MM7, and they worked (at least in the original Japanese version). Whether he knew it or not, Weil attempted to have history repeat itself, but this time Zero refused to let the manipulative human have his way. And to top it all off, he got caught in an explosion that annihilated Weil and for the most part Zero himself, signifying the end of his age, before becoming part of a space debris meteor shower. He literally became everyone's shooting star. The end of an age to start a new beginning. In other words, the Phoenix gave his ashes of defeat to the world to use.

I think what I love the most about zero's final words is the callback to x4 we all make fun of ot but in context what am I fighting for is a powerful line and now zero finally realised what he was fighting for

Kinda ruined because he was revived as biometal along with X and the guardians in Zx and zx advent (but not Axl because it is model Albert not axl before anyone asks which is why most people assume X 7 and X8 take place in a different timeline and the shot if Axl fighting omega was non-cannon)

A glowing hologram appears next to the broken helmet. A shift in view, and it reveals the hologram is the image of Dr. Wily, looking down at the helmet with a somber expression. He looks up a moment and to his shoulder, a hand resting on it.
Looking over, it's his old former friend and rival, Dr. Light. He offers a smile and a nod after a moment. Dr. Wily, his face for a moment turning to a frown, softens...and for the slightest of moments...becomes a look of content, nodding back.
Looking back down at the helmet once more, the holograms fade into nothingness, the wind blowing slightly after.
Man, Weil sure did feel like spamming just the rocks in the first stage in this run, huh?

I had all 4 games on GBA back in the day, I remember thoroughly playing and beating the first 3 but I don’t recall what happened in the fourth game after the first encounter with Craft. I might’ve gave up or moved on to other games lol years later I got the collection on my Nintendo switch, played all 4 games all the way up to this last Bossfight but decided to just watch the ending on UA-cam. I don’t have any sub tanks and it’s basically a wrap for me beating both parts of this battle with my small life bar lol this ending is very touching though… R.I.P. Zero 😢

No. A fifth game in the Zero series would mean they'd have to bring Zero back, which would negate 4's ending. Also, ZX already continued from where Zero left off, so a fifth would break the connection with that too. Do people even ever think about these things when they say there should be a continuation? Same thing is happening with Angel Beats! and no one even stops to think about the implications of continuing a COMPLETED series.
We need an X9 to complete the X series, or a ZX3, since neither of those series actually finished, and likly never will

If you think about it, Zero is an anti-hero. He used to be a proud Maverick hunter, but this changed when Zero waken up, he became a a mere soldier that is willing to do anything to complete his missions. To sacrifacing cyber elves for an advantage and even killing a human, a thing that the other Megaman characters isn't willing to do. This to me confirms that he is an anti-hero character, but never the less became a hero in everyone's eyes.
X and Zero died... As real Héroes, the will live forever in our hearts and minds, even if Zero did wanted to call himself a hero, he was a hero already, from the beginning, finally X and Zero finished their mission and they can rest knowing that the world is safe now... But you know what? I still thinking that little pixel in the mountain is Zero, and "Girouette" was Zero all the time

Well IMO, he didn't. If you see in the ending, his helmet is there so in my thoughts, his helmet just got torn off and he left. That's how I think about it.

I don't think Zero is actually dead... look how many times we have thought he died before.and beside all we saw was the top part of his head. He could still easily function without that. I bet the situation is with the Model Z is similar to that of Fake X. They couldn't find the hero anymore so they tried building a new one. Or Model Z actually is Zero... they look practically the same only the helmet-like head piece is missing. Or Model Z is aspiring to become like Zero because pulling off a stunt like this and disappearing certainly makes people want to be like you.
I agree with you, you are one of many who believes he isnt gone. I have two theories both of which have to do with the shadow on the cliff.
1. Zero went Cyber elf like Elpizo, Phantom, and X did, over looking his old body for a moment, and used his power to bring those reploids energy back so they could be made into the biometal they supposedly turn into later.
2. That IS Zero standing there, having shed his armor and dawning a similar cloak to Zero 2 he limps off after the battle. Making Model's Z and X copies of them.
in zx I recall biomet X and Z saying they had no memories of their past lives. So I am going to assume the biometals are fragments of zero and X
They don't have their memories, no, which is why I believe they are just carbon copies like Ciel had made of X. Just with more advances in technology, she was able to do a better job.
Like Sigma, Zero died in space, so without any part of his physical body, He would have been obliterated, unlike Phantom. With Zero's helmet at the crash site, Ciel could've fould Zero in cyberspace and made model Z that way. Cyber Elf X went back to Cyberspace when he could no longer stay in the physical world at the end of Z3. so Ciel making Model X is way less complicated.
Enuma Elish When Zero came back the first time it's cause they brought his body parts back together. Him coming back in X6 makes no damn sense to begin with cause that game's just absolute shit story-wise. With the Zero series though it's arguably the most attentive series storywise. He's pretty much dead-dead at the end of Zero 4.

this was one of the first games i ever played, i was seven the ending made me very sad. not to mention the squeal where it tells you that ciel made model z,x,h,p,l,o, and W, where model W was evil all on its own and wanted to destroy the world
After seeing this final boss i just realized i played megaman zero 4 lol and beated it so after he defeated his original body from 3 now he finnaly kills Dr.Weil FINNALY

everything started with Light and Wily. Then a long time passed since the X series and Wily left his virus inside Zero's database. And if I'm not wrong, Wily created a robot that has his same database and looked a little bit like him (I thought it was in the X series)
Then the Zero series started and this Dr. Weil is somehow Dr. Wily isn't he? well he has his will. Or who is Dr. Weil?
and in the ZX series Serpent said, that Aile got "his" blood in her veins. so I'm pretty sure he talks about Wily / Weil.
and if you noticed, the villain of the ZXA Game is called 'Albert'. wily's forename is Albert. And Dr. Lights name is Thomas. We know that Thomas from the ZXA game is a villain too (secret end). uh.. spoiler alert lol
Personally I think, Dr. Wily planned all of this. As we saw, Albert wasn't a human at all. (both Alberts) Maybe Weil or even Wily created those two "human" to rule the world and destroy it at the end.
Shit man it's not that simple, but I have almost the entire lore from Classic to X to Zero in my head so I'll write a lot of stuff (just look at my username, I breathe this stuff) I'm not well versed on ZX but at least I can tell you the names of the Sage Trinity are just an homage to the old scientists.
Wily originally designed Zero to destroy the original Megaman cast (as he tells Bass in the arcade games, "this robot I'm working on will defeat both you and Megaman!") but due to a programming bug he turned out crazy and violent. So Zero was sealed, and the virus was installed in the capsule to correct the glitch and make him stronger once he woke up. His new purpose was to wake up on the far future and destroy Light's final creation, in a sense taking their rivalry beyond their lifetimes. Light barely finished and sealed X before dying alone as seen in the Day of Sigma OVA. X was sealed both because his systems had to be tested to prevent him to go rogue and because "the world is just not ready"
100 years later during the X series there are 3 hints about Wily's involvement: Serges from X2 who suspiciously knows a bit too much about X and WAY too much about Zero (and in the Japanese version says "defeated again by Light's memento..."), the "mysterious old man who helped Sigma behind the scenes" in X5 and finally Isoc in X6. It's been said by Capcom "the virus' influence brought Wily's essence back from death". His whole schtick is wanting Zero to be the strongest and defeat X. That is the full extent of Wily's influence, though.
Dr. Weil is a different character. He's a human scientist that worked with Ciel's ancestor on creating the Mother Elf/Dark Elf from research made on Zero's body (his mind being separated from it) AFTER the X series era ended. His name is pronounced Vile (hell in Japan he's called Dr. Vile but had to be renamed because we already have a character named Vile, who in Japan is called VAVA) His whole thing was wanting to enslave humans and reploids, causing the Elf Wars, using Zero's body to create a henchman called Omega (prompting Ciel's ancestor to make a copy body so Zero's mind could fight again), and so on, and for this he was punished by being turned into an immortal self-healing cyborg and banished to the nuclear wastelands of Earth where he would die and heal over and over again.

Oh and to clarify a point I made that might get misunderstood: Zero never woke up in the classic era, maybe the psychotic glitch made Wily relent on it, or he just didn't finish building him on time and was too old to reap any reward from it (like Light who was visibly in poor health when sealing X). I mean, the virus was supposed to fix the glitch anyway, and it did. I'm one of the biggest detractors of the "Cataclysm Theory" so I don't want anyone to think I'm implying Zero did anything to the original cast.

Hate to spoil it GP487, but Weil didn't have just one move in his 1st form. If you saw other videos featuring this boss, you would see that he had a crystal shield move, a knife and shockwave combo attack, and an attack where he seems to summon what appears to be past bosses in the megaman zero series.

@00RaiserRock In Zero 2 and 3, you get an EX skill from a boss by beating their level with...A or S rank I believe? In Zero 4 I think there are two requirements: You can only get EX Skills on normal or hard mode in Zero 4, And the other I recall is you have to beat the level set to the weather condition where the boss has the advantage.
Weil's biggest mistake was believing Zero was a reploid.

I believe the MMZ series take place after MMX5 or MMX4, and the rest are "another end" to the series. But to my concern, the true story end in MMZ4. He finally discovered what he was for, and dies for it. He can now rest in peace with his friend, X.

Which isn't any different to what I just said about his spirit living on.
Especially considering that Reploids minds are data anyway, for all we know she could have found a way to duplicate it the same way they were able to transfer Zero's mind into a new body or how he was able to go into cyberspace in Zero 3, similar to how Vent/Aile goes straight into cyberspace in Area N of ZX.

No one realized Weil's first form can summon the Zero 3 bosses like blazin flizard, deathtanz mantisk, devilbat schilt, childre inarabitta, ect.?
I tried to prolong the first form so he would.. AI refused, though.
Also, I don't take into account those visual novel games such as Fate/Stay Night, D.C Dacpo, Tsukihime etc into account because those game are pretty much made for anime.
there IS past bosses attack it is called number summuning where all past 8 bosses (not in this game in other zero games)attack you
Wow Japanese-made games sure do make alot of Final Battle scenes between Good and Evil are on the Battleground or on a Collision course towards destruction leaving only their remains in the aftermath no matter who wins. Just like the battle between Goku/Kakarot and Frieza on Planet Namek. Where it had Supposedly 5 minutes before the planet... taking either Goku or Frieza with it. Come to think of it I Like it when villian feels like he's Losing or getting desperate and come to the Conclusion "Very Well then, If I'm Going down, I'M TAKING YOU WITH ME!!!"
