    Thanks for this. I’ve been chasing my golden retriever around the house with a pair of scissors and this video just saved me some real embarrassment and a soured relationship with my pooch.

    I take it that base plate isn't conductive or the hot would short with the soldered ground braid?

      I thought it was the hot also....but im assuming it is just an additional ground or negative connecting the pickup to the plate and the hot wire is in the middle of the braided coax wire

    I have a 2011 Gibson Les Paul Junior that came with a humbucking pick up. I tried swapping it ou for a Seymour Duncan Hot rail P90. It sounds nice especially with the special mounting ring. I really wanted a dog eared P90 so I'm glad I found your video. That metal adapter is very cool. Do you think I'll have to cut out any wood to fit the corners of the P90? Thank you

    I used to use your P90 but I broke ground wire. Did you make a repair vid or would you make one plz? It was my favourite pickup till now.

    Would the process be the same if I wanted to put the guts of a soap bar P90 into the covers of Epiphone Casino pickups?

      Casino neck pickups are very short, you're likely to run into difficulties.

    it could be possible the opposite thing? I mean, replace a couple of dogears for soapbars?

      @Alegree  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, just reverse the process

    Why not just solder the coil finish to the braid?

    • @Alegree
      @Alegree  4 роки тому +1

      You could. I think it's best practice to avoid this though, as the output cable could be moved in installation, tugging the coil finish/start and breaking the coil wire. Unlikely as the braid is soldered onto the baseplate, but best to avoid the risk.

      Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I hadn't considered that possibility. I was thinking that, if you soldered the coil finish to the braid on the pickup side of the baseplate, and then soldered the braid to the underside of the baseplate, you'd mitigate any chance for such movement.

      Howard Newcomb eBay has them dirt cheap. I received ten yesterday and they are fine.
