Gulf Guardian Award 2022: Advancing Best Practices for Seagrass Monitoring in the Gulf of Mexico

For four years, the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Seagrass Community of Practice (CoP) has collaborated to identify information needs, management applications, and best practices related to seagrass monitoring, conservation, and restoration. The CoP has engaged - with technicians, researchers, managers, and citizen groups throughout this period to advocate for adoption of a tiered and integrated seagrass mapping and monitoring approach that across the region, a set of seagrass and environmental metrics common in the Gulf, and an inventory of available products and experts. The CoP continues to strengthen partnerships and networks of experts within the Gulf, nationally, and internationally.
