I was at a show one time in Florida, and a guy had straight cut gears on his Vortech. Man, that thing was loud! Your setup looks and sounds amazing@ Old school Cool, too.
I bought my v-3 kit from anderson also, they are a great bunch of guys to deal with. Customer service was great and they answered every question I had and returned all my calls
Best sounding combo for a Foxbody mustang.. that lil SI will make enough HP to split that block… I just did TI trim for my Fox and I also needed to space out my ASP smog delete pulley.
Looks awesome Brew. I need you to come over and detail a couple of my cars engines and bays. LOL. Can't wait to really hear this one and go for a ride along. Take care buddy. I hope you and your family had a very happy Thanksgiving. We did. We're celebrating my father's 80th birthday on Dec. 2nd. Good to see Poppa T and the boys.
It's fun for awhile and depends on your goals... I couldn't catch a race, it sounds just like a YSI... so everyone thinks you're Rollin a 8 second car. I traded my V1 for a V2 with helicals. Car sounds and idles quieter than stock now.
When I installed mine I used the Ford idler for the smog delete as well. It didn’t have the other hole to bolt it up correctly. I had to go back and buy the billet style from LMR. Doesn’t look as nice as the ford one but has all the correct holes.
looks good. get rid of the pcv system and the fresh air vent tube from the throttle body. your going to have to vent that thing or you're going to have a leak very soon. Use a rubber expansion plug for the pcv hole in the lower intake, run a screw on breather for the oil fill and a breather to a catch can for the ds. In mine i used 2 cheapo Amazon catch cans, mounted to the sides of the radiator support down by the bumper. no fumes. also use cheapo Amazon -10 push lock fittings and 5/8 fuel hose.
Niiiiiiice Brew2l, looks great on the red engine bay. Question if you don’t mind: with the Anderson pipe install, did you just open up the orig apron hole or did you need to move the opening completely? Thanks brother
I’m wanting to put the Holley high-rise front inlet with a Paxton Novi 1000 on mine just waiting on the high-rise to show up not sure if it’s gonna work fingers crossed awesome work man
Lovin’ it! Called Donny B at Anderson Ford Motorsports today, and got my s/c order in as well. Thanks for your motivation and Donny B’s assistance in my purchase.
Why not go even older school and tune your timing curve using the Boost Timing Master that is normally included with your Vortech kit? That's what we did before chips/PMS became popular. I have a video explaining how to do just that. Also, I would use the relay kit that came with the T-Rex pump, its good insurance you are getting all the voltage possible to your fuel pump vs 30 yr old wiring.
Damn BREW2L the RetroFox under the hood is looking so sweet my friend, man to hear it fire right up had yelling, she sounding so good, can't wait for the finished road trip.
You need to remove the fresh air line from the T-body to valve cover. You will be forcing air in the crankcase. Put a filter of some sort on it to allow fresh air through the engine.
Man Retro Fox sounds great looks great to Seams like when Andrew comes by a lot gets done lol love to see your family there with you intake looks great one of a kind like always another great 👍 video
Lol I had a Vortec YSI with the Anderson power pipe, 42lbs injectors, 255 pump, BBK intake manifold, BBK ceramic long tubes, custom chip If I remember correctly it made 13ish psi and made 420ish to the tire. I sure I had a throttle body 75-80mm maybe a cam or 1.7rollers. I sold the car in 2006 so the details are fuzzy. But it sounded awesome it was the first car I owned that pulled the tires on the street when drag radials were still new had a set of the BFG drag radials on a set of ROH ZS Racing wheels. It was a 89gt and man this car reminds me of it.
I'm glad they brought back the old v1 sound. For me the straight cut sound just belongs on these cars. It's extremely loud in a fast food drive thru line. Most people aren't impressed 🤣
Absolutely love how the RetroFox is coming together. I remember these cars, hearing a Vortech for the first time and thinking the car was messed up. Very excited to watch the journey you are on with it. And the Saleen wing hanging out on top of the retro’s old engine. Epic!
That's an awesome job you guys did,I love it. I put one of those Hartman upper intakes on my brother's "stock 92" LX convertibles with nothing but an H-pipe and Flowmaster mufflers and it made the engine sound like it had a high lift cam in it. I mean it sounded totally different and you could really feel the extra power it had.

There's something very special about that first fire after the build, and you get to hear the whine for the first time. Love it! I'm happy for you too, I remember multiple times, you saying that you probably wouldn't ever do a Vortech because of the cost. Yet, here you are. What pulley did you end up going with?
Yeah I was adamant about not spending that much money. But I felt the channel needed something a little different. I can’t remember the pulley size. I’ll look when I get home.
@@BREW2LFOXBODY looks like you went with an 8 rib setup. Based on what you said recently about your hp goals, I have a guess. Look's really good either way. Great video, thanks for all the info. I’m not running fuel injection so, a lot of this stuff doesn’t apply to my car. I still enjoy watching it. I always learn something from your videos. I forgot to mention in the video this is the Vortech SI trim with Heritage Gears. That’s the reason it’s so loud.
Sounds amazing

I love the sound of the straight cut gears.

It definitely needed it. It’s an OG

How much power you putting down on the V1?
I was pretty upset trying to get my vortech on as well. It was easier to build my turbo system that to install that thing. Lol
