I think you might be loving the retro more than the calypso. The retro was just an easier build with better drivability and still a lot of power without all the expense, time and labor as the calypso.
Yeah the time and money factor is a major player in our enjoyment!

Id love to see the difference in price as well as difficulty of installing/tuning the retro vs the calypso. This of course wouldn't include the price into consideration of engine mods like the whole new motor in the calypso, just the necessary things to say “bolt on” each of these power adders everything said and done including computers, tunes etc. Possibly adding in Andrew's Nitrous car to the comparison would be awesome. Great video as always!

Man I look for you everytime I'm in that area but Ill run across you one day, I hope like hell that machine shop gets the crack on the outside of the block fixed so I can get it back and get it going again finally, and drive it, this thing has turned into a headache but im wanting to drive it up to FTO this year and it should have a few miles on it by then so that I will feel good about taking it

I don't know if it's just me, but I think the Retro Fox sounds even better now with the supercharger and the new intake. I was actually going to suggest a side by side video comparison of Calypso and Retro, but you beat me to it. LOL

This car is making me feel better about ditching my turbo and going back to a blower of some kind. Just easier to deal with and all smiles. No dicking with it all the time for boost or exhaust leaks, or clearance problems or anything.

Isn't it so much fun? I've got my boost controller ramping in boost from 4.5 to 17psi. I love feeling the tires haze the entire time.

Awesome video. I'm going to a flowzilla. I like the sound of a twin screw. Lol but man I got issues with mine right now. Either fuel pump, bad injectors. Its hitting but not starting can't hear my fuel pump either
She is running good! I would definitely like to see a side by side comparison of the centrifugal supercharger and the turbo. I wonder if it would be possible to swap the supercharger onto calypso or vice versa so you can have a more equal comparison. Supercharged vs turbo 302 or 347. But that will probably be too involved in regards to the swap itself and probably the tuning, so I won't blame you if you decide to just compare the two cars.
I’d love to swap them just to see. But yeah that would be a crazy amount of work.

Didnt Ford pit metal retainer clips on the fuel line connections? They wont snap in unless the line is fully clicked in place.
My 90 has them YET.
Also safety wiring things is a good idea.

Really solid hit if you ask me. When you Run Poppa Ts car maybe a few burnouts will get them tires sticky. As far as Calypso goes if you do run them, Calypso turbo will cross the finish like first I think.

You should build a drift Foxbody. I’ve noticed a lot of the younger people including myself are building them. A good budget friend drift fox would draw alot of people into your videos. Idk anyone else building one and filming it so you would be one of the 1st that I know of. Just today I spoke to 2 peeps on the Foxbody pages that were starting a drift build and was asking questions on the subject. One kid was just 17 with a 86 Fox.
I’m just not into it if I’m being honest.But I do enjoy watching it and I agree the drift scene has grown in popularity over the years!

Sounds like a very conservative tune right now, 11 psi too (called it 😉)
I think if you can get the timing up to 16* and get that A/F up to about 11.6-11.8, you'll make about 30 more hp.
The way it sits now, you should be faster than Papa T's car if he's only at 5lbs.
I see a smaller pulley in your future though. A smaller pulley will help you on your low to mid rpm power, then you can control the top end with tuning so it doesn't get too aggressive.
Definitely interested in the comparison with the Calypso!
Yes still very conservative tune in this video. Matt is slowly bringing in more timing. I think we are pretty close at the moment though.
@@BREW2LFOXBODY definitely some room left to grow! Don't forget, the short runners on that bread box have moved your powerband up high. You'll see better low end if you ever decide to play with intake manifold runner length.

Running good, I went with 331 forged bottom end, the bigger windsor jr. heads, and Eldelbrock performer efi intake, thinking I maybe choking it a little, but it just blows the tires, and it's in bad need of tune, and not set up for remote tune. But it needs help to get right, first build myself and at least I can drive it around a little, Live in Central Alabama, can you refer someone in this area or as soon as my car trailer arrives I'm willing to travel, it really needs someone to go over all my doing to see what else it needs, Thanks for everything BREW2L I started watching your UA-cam without a Fox now I have 2 1990 a GT and a LX 5.0 hatch, the LX is gonna be a full restoration style process, and the GT is for street/dailyish ride, GT is car I'm referring to

Since it's the retro fox, get some south side uppers and lowers. Are those Jones mufflers with tailpipes? Cause it sounds good

I know you don't typically hit the dyno with your cars, but I would be curious to see what the retro puts down with such a "simple" build
I can dig a supercharger. But it is hard to compare the two as a way to look at both in a real world challenge.
