As Bama sucked at the time I had to live a bit through teams I didn’t hate and that was a damn fun one to watch. Pat White was a ridiculously underrated college QB. Srry about last night as IMO the better team lost. That 6’2 kid should’ve never of only gotten 7 carries. He had what, 120 yards? It was genuinely pissing me off that they weren’t feeding him the ball until Pitt was able to stop it.

If you think W.V. doesn’t have nearly what Pitt has when it was only a 7 point win with a very fortunate screw up by a WR that had 100 yards/2 TD’s. Also bad play calling on W.V.’s part as a RB averaging nearly 20 ypc doesn’t touch it even 10 times? As someone who was a freshmen at WVU and a member of the marching band that year, I can say that no one in my six years living in Morgantown ever once told me they thought us losing the 07 Backyard Brawl was Pat's fault. It was universally just accepted that Rich Rod threw that game because he knew he was leaving and did not want us going to the championship. Man, I appreciate you sharing. I hate that WV fans (often not from WV) can be so awful at bad times. I had same feelings smaller level blowing State championship in that stadium on a 2 point pass. My older brother stayed home from college and probably saved me. It still haunts me 30 years later. So many great games and memories to get there but all I see is that play in the closed end of the stadium.

I got to say, as a Native West Virginia EER, I had the same pit in my stomach, Hearing Pat’s retake, that I had 15yrs ago when I watched that game, & the whole states dreams came crashing down. But everything happens for reason..

Thanks for being real. So glad you decided to go to that underground poker game and made your way to WVU. Things don't always go the way we want them to and those defeats make us the people we are meant to be.

I saw multiple former mountaineers cry that day. Didn’t get a student ticket that day so a friend got me a seat with a bunch of former mountaineers mascots. Loving what you have become! Keep repping WVU! “Where them couches burn and them kegs get tapped”

Thanks for sharing. It’s never on one player or one play. I am sure many other players also felt like they missed plays that night but the kicker is always the one who takes the heat. Life goes on and your doing great at that. Take care

The tweet you made reflect the real truth. You had an awesome year and you helped us win many games. Everyone has a bad day. It sucks but you have to back up and look at the big picture that overall things are still good. The entire team was off that day. We should have scored 40 points. We still had a great victory in the bowl game. Always be proud of what you did do. WVU Grad.

Pat I'm 43 and I've been a WVU fan all my life, the thought if that game still hurts me to my core whenever I think about it. You were a great kicker and that's what I remember about you, I don't blame you for that loss nor does the state of WV. Almost everything went wrong and that's that's the only way something like that could've happened, we were a far superior team. But I wish that Rich Rod would've given you the opportunity to kick a field goal in the next to the last possession. I think you would've hit it and we would've had a far better chance to win that game. That's what I remember, you are the best kicker to ever play at WVU remember that and all of the good as you were great and so was that team.

Pat, the positive influence you have made on so many peoples lives is what you should be focused on. After football you had a vision and that vision became reality. You should be nothing but overwhelmingly proud of what you have given to so many. Pressure creates diamonds.

Hey man, I'm a Buffalo Bills fan and have been for 54 years. We all try to understand what it was like to be Scott Norwood and the truth is, he was a big reason
the Bills made it to that Super Bowl. All you can do is be the best person you can be every day of your life. Be kind, be humble, have humility and be loyal to your
true friends. You have done more for young kickers than you think just being an honest hard working role model. You got this and everyone knows it. But you have to know it
    deep down inside.

7 year old WVU fan at the time watching that 2007 WVU team, those games of you guys are memories that will last me a lifetime watching those games with my dad. People from other places just don’t realize what WVU football means to the people of our state it’s all we got and our football team carries that underdog and blue collar reputation that the population of the state has, you won’t find fans as connected to our team as us WVU fans.

Growing up I was a marshall fan. That backyard brawl I would have been in 7th grade. I won't lie, it felt good watching wvu choke like that. Years later, watching you and your show I won't lie I hate seeing that it happened to you and that team. Wvu fans are knuckleheads for the most part but you guys had an undeniable talent and like-ability that still follows you guys to this day. So for the night I'll root on the 'eers. Pat you're awesome and don't forget that.
