    Great video, as always. You touched on a very important point when you talked about the randomness that graphs represent in cv's.
    I've used it once a few years ago, in my cv, but then I started questioning what it really meant. The scale is extremely arbitrary as it is subjective to each person. You may give yourself a classification of "x" on a subject, but to a recruiter it may have a totally different meaning and they may expect more of you because the same "x" to them means a higher skill level, since their scale is much wider than yours.
    In conclusion, this type of representation can open you up to a lot of misunderstandings, so you'd better just say what you can do.

    Agree with a lot of what you've said. I've observed a lot of entry to mid-level designers going down this pathway. There is no technical method that exists to quantify what you're strengths or weaknesses are while using a platform. Your skills develop with time, practice and experience. Best to not include such false infographics and simply list things out. Application tracking systems will also scan for these words, so chances of moving to an interview phase is relatively higher.

    Really good review Ran.
    I also see the graphs becoming a trend, and I don't really get it. You are just underrating and hurting yourself when you are saying 9 out of 10

    Great and helpful video. I would just point out that you should have had blurred or erased person's ID and phone number as the UA-cam privacy policy requires, unless you had the permission.

    Here in England, a lot of graphics jobs are demanding a driving license so it can be best mentioning it.

    I agree on Shbly CV skill level and software levels are kind of pointless and the fact he shows his work he has included I think you can get an idea from them of what there good at and no interaction or links to an online portfolio

    Hi
    Thank you so much for the Review it's very helpful. I have a question about whether adding colors to the CV is fine or if I should avoid this thing and make it black and white.

    I'm really confused. I have researched so many articles online that strongly suggest UX/UI resumes to be in plain Black and White design. Me personally I gravitate towards something artistic. I want to know what the trend really is? What design am I supposed to do in my resume..?

    • @agamlamba2
      @agamlamba2 4 роки тому

      That's not the case. Mostly black and white work best because they give a professional appearance and are mostly legible. You can definitely throw more colours in to represent your personality as long your a visually impaired being can read what you've put together, you're good to go. Minimalistic approach is currently the trend to demonstrate and clean and intuitive layout in whatever you put together.

    Hi, I have been freelancing for an year now as a Web Designer. Does writing up as a freelancer in my CV would mark a negative point for a full-time job application? I do have the websites I have worked on written on my CV.

      If you want to go down the UX/UI journey, learn how to use Sketch app and Figma. That's 90% of the work done. Also, learn up doing prototyping, putting together Information Architectures and UX copy-writing.
