Tom Jones, you were the right coach for her. I don’t think Will.I.am or the others could have done for her what Tom Jones did. He worked with her strengths and showcased the beauty of her voice. Well done!!! Anxiously waiting to see where she goes next.
None of them have the experience he has. The perfect match at the perfect time. I have never heard a contestant sing the same song twice. Loved it both times.
I love how the judge who picked her smiled so much during her performances. He knew the great potential that the others missed. Such soul and much heart in her voice 💛 I know the judge's name now, you guys can stfu 😝
starlite xo It’s Sir Tom Jones, an icon & living legend, he still has an amazing voice but when he was younger no one came close to him vocally. Tom had many number one hits around the world, including The green green grass of home, Delilah, It’s not unusual, She’s a lady, I who have nothing, etc etc...
Tom is a legend and a very intelligent man in his profession. He knew the very first time he heard her that she was headed to the top . He takes in to account all things. He is a genius and this adorable beautiful angel is just so talented!! Thank you Tom for that first chair turn!!!! Lizzie from New Orleans. ❤️🙏✌️
Cranberries' songs suit her voice to a tee. Ruti Olajugbagbe’s voice puts her in a special class of singers. The ones that come to my mind are Dolores O'Riordan (The Cranberries), Florence Welch (Florence & The Machine), & KT Tunstall.
Saw her singing live at a festival last year.. it was such a magical moment. She just got on stage without any rehearsal and blew me away. Only just now getting around to watching the voice performances.
Wow! Such a gorgeous, rich voice, like a cello! And I love that she doesn’t over-embellish notes. She keeps it simple, clean, clear, which has a directness. So moving!
Cat Mandu THIS. That is what Tom Jones immediately noticed that the other judges failed to pick up on, because they're conditioned to the ho-hum we hear on the radio nowadays. Tom knew right away that this young lady had a rare gift. ❤️
I don't know what the other 3 judges were thinking, Tom and the audience definitely got it as did I when I saw the first audition. Such a warm voice. A beautiful and humble girl xx
They were asking each other "is this a boy or a girl?" and no one knew so they didn't turn bc Tom did. Her voice is special bc she's female. There aren't many female alto's but too many male lol. I truly believe that was the only reason.
I’ve never found myself so swerved into such ethereal voice such as hers. She has the soul and the twist of the west with her other west African side. It makes such a gracefulness, a kind you live to bless the mysteries for giving you a soul to enjoy. She’s a gift and I’m proud to be her cousin.
What a beautiful young lady, with such a unique voice! Thank you Tom for choosing her,and giving her the right choice of songs! What a Beautiful duet you both performed! ❤
Imagine having that amount of talent and that amount of beauty and yet triple the humility? 🤔 Utterly breathtaking, and spot on songs chosen by Tom 💖❤️💐
It suits her voice much better than the voice of the other contestant. The right song choice is so important. She lucked out there. I like the otherd womans voice bit this song was not for her.
Some years later and I'm still smitten by this audition. Definitely one of the most memorable. Her voice, her smile, her hair, her insecurities ... and, of course, only a legend would have noticed and took a chance.
Oh my goodness when Tom and this beautiful young lady started singing I couldn't stop smiling. He sang with her like a proud grandfather it melt my heart .I am sorry guys this is the most I comment on one video please forgive me. She is great and she got better through the whole competition great job hun .
I got teary eyed watching this. There’s something about her voice that lifts you up, and just make you say “Go girl, you’ll win this!” Her voice is ethereal, innocent but always in control. This just proves that even if only one person believe in you, but if you’re destined to rise above the others, you would succeed.

We don't know the real context. The wery possible thing is that Tom was the only coach having placr in his team.
She absolutely did not possess perfect pitch btw. She was flat quite a bit but that's technique and discipline vs hardware meaning not an ear issue.
Such a haunting, mystical voice. Unique and very deserving. That duet with Tom was magical.
Oh yes, I was looking for the proper words to describe the her voice, and I almost gave up until I saw your comment: haunting and mystical.
Thank you.
Yeah...those are the words I've been looking for
Yes and the songs by The Cranberries fit her to a T. Esp. Dreams.
Fantastic duet with Sir Tom Jones!!!
If Mother Nature was a pop start this would be her voice and look!!!
Dang! This was on my mind. When i listen to her its like bringing me to middle of ocean.
Yeah, black and beautiful
🙌🏾🔥
Her voice is the freaking universe!
Nice
My God!!! Enthralling!!! That she's got Nigerian roots makes it even more of a proud moment for me. Go girl!!
Do you think she should have won first place in the competition?
@@saraht9442 No way
When Tom sings, "I hear babies cry, I watch them grow," he's so emotional, like he's so aware of his own mortality.
Aw so true. He is amazing and this was the best duet ever. Just...ever.
Even I get teary eyed watching this part.
Please don't say that because I want Tom Jones to live a lot longer from now...
Maybe he is regretful for the son he missed out on🤷🏾♀️
Perhaps he has loved many of those babies.
I'm sorry to say it but imagine this girl singing somewhere over the rainbow 🥺🥺 I'd be crying my whole heart out ❤
You're so right on it❤
You hit the nail on the head
That would be beautiful💗
Girl you know it!!
Agree! It would be amazing!
As soon as she started singing Toms antennae’s went up. The man has a good ear for talent. So very thankful he did. The world may have missed out on a rose.
Been years since she has won the voice and I'm still watching this video she is still amazing all these years later.
why her voice is so soothing and antidepressant 😭
I would love to hear sing zombie, and bright eyes from Watership down she is magical.
Dimensional sound...transcendental resonance in her voice. Beyond old, ancient soul. Thank you for sharing yourself with us.
Doing it with ease./nd enjoying her self.
Yes! Something within me finds her voice so...earthy? timeless? I'm not sure what word I'm looking for, but I love it!
Well said!!!
I agree! She's phenomenal!
It's gorgeous, it's velvety, it's gourmand ish.. I love it
Love seeing the pride in Tom Jones face. Beautiful voice.
What is her name?
@@dianemurphy6589 her name is Ruti Olajugbagbe
@@judgej.8816 thank you!
I Love that Ruti never over sings a piece. She lets each note flow logically to the next. She experiences songs.
Tom Jones, you were the right coach for her. I don’t think Will.I.am or the others could have done for her what Tom Jones did. He worked with her strengths and showcased the beauty of her voice. Well done!!! Anxiously waiting to see where she goes next.
I agree
None of them have the experience he has. The perfect match at the perfect time. I have never heard a contestant sing the same song twice. Loved it both times.
@@WALKER11574 a lot of contestants sing the same song twice
I love her not only because of her beautiful voice but also because of how she stands there and just enjoys the song, not trying to amaze at any cost
I love how the judge who picked her smiled so much during her performances. He knew the great potential that the others missed. Such soul and much heart in her voice 💛
I know the judge's name now, you guys can stfu 😝
Put some respect on Tom Jones name lol
@@bigboislim69 ayy my bad, I ain't know that man from a can of paint
starlite xo It’s Sir Tom Jones, an icon & living legend, he still has an amazing voice but when he was younger no one came close to him vocally. Tom had many number one hits around the world, including The green green grass of home, Delilah, It’s not unusual, She’s a lady, I who have nothing, etc etc...
You don’t know Tom omg where have you been.
@@starlitexo if you ever watched Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air the Song That Carlton Dances To is one of Tom Jones Songs
She is so talented and gifted . As soon as she started singing , something about her soothing voice and captivating . Happy she won !!!!!!
I love her, especially singing Cranberries covers. And, Tom still has his great voice. How remarkable is that?
She did really good on that song I really like her voice
Cranberries' songs suit her voice to a tee. Ruti Olajugbagbe’s voice puts her in a special class of singers. The ones that come to my mind are Dolores O'Riordan (The Cranberries), Florence Welch (Florence & The Machine), & KT Tunstall.
Tom Jones is the man like Elvis
Saw her singing live at a festival last year.. it was such a magical moment. She just got on stage without any rehearsal and blew me away. Only just now getting around to watching the voice performances.
Hello... would you be so kind to tell me her name?? I’m dying to know!
@@franklemongello7851 : Ruti Olajugbagbe
Wow! Such a gorgeous, rich voice, like a cello! And I love that she doesn’t over-embellish notes. She keeps it simple, clean, clear, which has a directness. So moving!
Yes, yes. Like a cello. Well said.
She just has a very distinct voice. What a treasure.
Maybe they just didn't like it what I personally could totally understand.
Me too!!!!!!❤️
The wanted the usual mariah carey voice she has a unique one
They were asking each other "is this a boy or a girl?" and no one knew so they didn't turn bc Tom did. Her voice is special bc she's female. There aren't many female alto's but too many male lol. I truly believe that was the only reason.
Concordo com você,a voz dela sua personalidade é incrível e maravilhosa.Deus a abençoe.
Can we just recognise how perfect Florence songs are for Ruti’s voice, that’s such an incredible match for her vocals!
Yep, it's the folk element of Florence's songs that fits her voice like a glove.
Rutis dad breaks me. He is beyond proud of her. She was and is exceptional.
Her coach looks really proud all the time. He's genuinely happy!
Her first record NEEDS Tom on it, their voices are so complimentary to each other
This child can truly sing...no synthesizers..raw talent
Saying she has a gift is an understatement. She is precious.
Why doesn’t she have a record yet? One of the most unique and distinguishable voices I heard in a long time. So ethereal and soothing to the soul ❤️
She does.
She does. Look at her Spotify
It takes awhile they have to groom you and train you its a lot that goes into it
J-Hud is mad she didn't turn.. lol
Wow, you're late! She released her debut EP Racing Cars in 2019!!!
She started singing the Cranberries and I started crying. It was so hauntingly beautiful.
me too
Exactly!!!!!!!!
Loved the Cranberries.....
Dolores O'Riorden R.I.P 15/1/18
I cant believe i just did watching again. Whew!
Lea Martin me three
I'll buy her CD or stream her music, she sounds like my easy like Sunday morning type mellow vibe.
👌👍Just what I thought. Remembering the one person who believed in me throughout...love you Papa.💐🌿
Your cousin?... How far guy
Am proud of you as Nigerian 🇳🇬
Wow!
But was she the best? Absolutely not. Donel should have won.
Epic n on point comment 😍
✌
Yes! Agreed.
The song with Tom was a true magic ❤
They knocked it out of the ballpark with “What a Wonderful World”!!
The way she is moving her hands when she sings higher notes - like a flower opening up to the sun ☀️
beautifully observed, thank you for writing that
On her first duet her vocals are much clearer than her partner
It suits her voice much better than the voice of the other contestant. The right song choice is so important. She lucked out there. I like the otherd womans voice bit this song was not for her.
True 100%
Agree 100%
Verena S i wonder if it’s luck. I think often the coach knows who he’s most interested in and chooses a song to highlight that voice.
Her Partner was horrible
Tom Jones' voice is still impeccable. I haven't hear him sing in decades and am shocked at how great he still sound.
Yesssss🥰
I would actually say that his voice, as good red wine, has actually become better with age. Love the refinement.
I just watched The Who perform last night and I noticed the weakness in Plant's vocals. Not a big from Jones, who is much older.
Some years later and I'm still smitten by this audition. Definitely one of the most memorable. Her voice, her smile, her hair, her insecurities ... and, of course, only a legend would have noticed and took a chance.
Toms smile says it all. He made the right decision
Oh my goodness when Tom and this beautiful young lady started singing I couldn't stop smiling. He sang with her like a proud grandfather it melt my heart .I am sorry guys this is the most I comment on one video please forgive me. She is great and she got better through the whole competition great job hun .
Their duet of "What a Wonderful World" was magical. I loved seeing that sweet, innocent interaction with such a beautiful, classic song.
Im also the one
I got teary eyed watching this. There’s something about her voice that lifts you up, and just make you say “Go girl, you’ll win this!” Her voice is ethereal, innocent but always in control. This just proves that even if only one person believe in you, but if you’re destined to rise above the others, you would succeed.
Her tone breaks your heart
She sounds exactly like Florence in that song.
Better than Florence actually.
A More pleasant Florence .😁
Who is Florence? Or do you mean Delores? I love hearing different versions of this song.
Elizabeth florence from Florence and the machine
@@babe8917 thanks I wondered if it was that. 🙂🙏 Now gotta check it out! Lol
Can I just say... he chose the PERFECT songs for her!
Ruti's voice is like one in a trillion like Tom. I'm so glad Tom believed in her, what a great coach. :)
I quite literally teared up when she started singing dreams. Her voice is a dream
Haunting and marvelous and sweet and perfect and soothing
