As an English native, I had to pause because I couldn't understand what "Cut the chase" meant. Then i realized you meant "cut to the chase." Without "to" it looks so...incomplete.
I've never heard it said "cut the chase," only "cut to the chase." It's kind of interesting: it'd make sense both ways ("cut the chase" meaning skip over the part where you struggle and just get to the part where you actually catch the thing you're chasing, or "cut to the chase" meaning skip over the lead-up and get to the actually interesting action sequence), but either way, I've not heard it said like that. Maybe it's a regional difference?
Where have I been to just discover this channel!? Since I've just started learning Chinese, this is a good way to help me improve and also learn some culture! I love it! already subscribed and also turn on the noti👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
When someone wishes an actor or actress to break a leg, they are wishing them a fabulous performance because back in the Elizabethan Era, pleased audiences may applaud for an extended time allowing the cast to take multiple curtain calls, bowing to the audience, and for the third time, the actor or actress may kneel down to receive the applause. It is considered to be a great honour at that time to "break a leg" and the phrase is still used today.
*Cut to the chase* originates from old movies where you cut/skip those boring parts, right into the exciting part, which is the chase. It means remove all the nonsense and get to the main point. *Cut the chase* is wrong and seems like the total opposite. Cutting the most exciting, interesting part away. Its like removing/cutting away the main point...
Break a leg has several meanings behind it The sides of the stage are called "legs" Break a leg means goodluck because you ate breaking through the legs and onto stage It is strange I know Cool video ♡

No you're right, 'cut to the chase' is the right way to say it. I made the mistake when preparing the phrases...will be more careful next time lol

我第一次聽到break a leg是在歌舞青春😂
馬上學到
Carrie Zan 我也是 而且当时那个女主也没有听懂!
"cut TO the chase" usually has the "to" in it
Isn't it cut "to" the chase?
It’s a typo, but it’s okay haha.

Finally updated ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
YAY NEW VIDEO thanks for posting~~ ^^
Even I don't know know what 'beat a dead horse' means. Luke is really impressive to have only 2 incorrect out of all the idioms.
i love this video, wanna see more like this!
Shirleen ♡♡
Break a leg has several meanings behind it
The sides of the stage are called "legs"
Break a leg means goodluck because you ate breaking through the legs and onto stage
It is strange I know
Cool video ♡
cut to the chase 今天看生活大爆炸的时候看到了
RunQ Z 是哪集
damn! Are you guys uni students? I love your videos :)
Honestly, such a fun way for me to learn Mandarin :) thanks
Shirleen最近压力是不是太大了,要注意休息哈。btw咱们是不是可以考虑出一期“母亲节专辑”?祝越办越好!
Break a leg 不是因为以前莎士比亚的戏剧很难表演,成功演出结束谢幕时演员都会收腿鞠躬致谢看起来就像是只有一条腿,所以以这短语祝表演成功吗?
where's Olivia?
终于等到你!
终于更新了yesssss
我超喜欢穿红上衣扎小辫那对情侣欸!!!很早就注意到了!!!很喜欢那个女生的性格欸!!!有没有社交软件啊要关注!!!
Luke is on fire
这些习语基本上英语专业的都应该学到过吧,基本都很熟悉。另外beat the dead horse有没有旧事重提之意不清楚,但确实有做无用功的意思。
终于更了😂
一個月失蹤人口回來啦!
Olivia !!!!可爱的小甜甜!
终于更新了 大概大家都期末考吧
3:23 is 'cut to the chase'
first i thought they meant 'cut the cheese', which would have been better
終於有影片了
It would be better if you added the names of them.
It's funny how i understand these idioms, know how to use em in a sentence but I can't explain it in chinese XD
下次这些谚语可以写到对话框么?那样可以更认真去学习
那个小哥好厉害啊!小时候肯定被英语老师整天要求背习语!
I'm not even reading the subtitles, I'm just watching her speak.
Olivia呢!
太喜欢你们了
i can see literally everyone is also here to add "cut to the chase" haha
Welcome Back
终于.
下次可以再做一期kpop reaction吗qwq
I didn’t even know what beat a dead horse meant until I spent like 10 seconds thinking about it. I was born here smh why am I incompetent
I see Chinese characters and olivia. I don't understand but im sure we are both thinking the same thing
I'm really curious on whether this is traditional writing or simplified. Does anyone know?
江尚谕 thank you!!!
喜欢这期 涨知识🤔
學到了好多好多👍🏻❤️
北京小哥果然还是呆的时间长听得多
Off the hook means LIT
Luke好好笑
Luke😍😍😍
Thought it was like off the hook like off the chain
It's cut to the chase, not cut the chase
He's so cool haha 2:43
Luke 声音是真好听!他坐标是在多伦多么!
你们应该做一个Abc对迪玛西反应的视频
