He was respected for his music, but feared everywhere in France for his swordsmanship.
But his real weapon was his twerking style

Joseph Bologne was recognised during his life and made a Chevalier Saint-Georges ... well done, Joseph!
Never heard of him, but I have now. Thank you for taking the time to play one of so many unknown pieces. I enjoyed it.
Just watched a bio on Joseph Bologne and right after listened to this. Before I vaguely remember hearing of a Black Mozart but it's nice to finally hear his story and his works. Thanks for sharing!
I hate the name "Black Mozart."
He is Joseph Bologne. Schubert isn't "other Beethoven." He's Franz Schubert.
But it's worse than that - Bolonge influenced Mozart!
Literally, he's one of the most influential composers in history because he influenced one of the all-time most well-known composers in history....
It's an absolute travesty that he's so obscure. It's absolutely disgusting that he is not a household name of influential people.
@@hellomate639totally agree. Can’t wait to see the movie.
This second movement should be played more often. I love that the duple is played as a triplet.
Excellent. Thanks for posting.
we played this song in my highschool orchestra. really an amazing piece, hope to be in an orchestra like this someday.
Best of luck to you. Hope you achieve your dream.
Beautiful 🌞
Outstanding!
Thank you for this lovely performance. I will be teaching a group of students about Joseph Bologne, and will use this performance. 🎶🎶
I love this song we have to play it in. Music class and it so easy!!
making a note for myself

I love the way his music is upbeat and peppy
I. Allegro Presto - 0:08
II. Andante - 3:42
III. Presto - 6:15
I loved the biography and loved his music. Also, he was the jack of all trades in his day. The best in fencing swimming , horseback, and multiple languages. Joseph, I'm in Love❤
The 2nd movement is just everything to me.
congratulations on playing the music of Joseph bologne pure awesomeness
Que o mundo conheça sua obra

Can you let us know which company you rented (or purchase) the music from?
We were able to find the music for this symphony on IMSLP: imslp.org/wiki/2_Symphonies%2C_Op.11_(Saint-Georges%2C_Joseph_Bologne). I had to correct a lot of errors in the score though. If you would like me to send you a PDF with my corrections, just reply with your email address.
I had not heard of Bologne before today. I spent a couple of hours listening to various works. What I heard was pleasant and melodious, but somewhat simplistic. The works I heard did not require much virtuosity of the soloists. He also did not seem to use what would have been considered a full orchestra at the time. For example this work, a symphony, is scored only for strings, two horns and two oboes. I would like to hear his music performed by the Montreal Symphony, the orchestra I subscribe to, but it really does not compare to Mozart in quality.
I don't think the concept of "full orchestra" existed during most of the classical period.

Sounds quite crude and unpolished to Mozart.
Well done! We need more music by obscure mediocre composers to be promoted because of the colour of their skin.
🤣 obscure for obvious reasons of the time. But you still found your way here to comment. Well Done! You're helping with the promotion.
"obscure mediocre composers" lol you're just a racist hater
He was so mediocre that Mozart was inspired by him. I swear anti-woketards are as childish as their counterparts
Jealous?
Scram.
Well, this was mentally nutritious this morning 🤎🎶🤌🏾
