Norm McDonald died as a legend and the NBC producer is a unknown nobody. Norm we miss you.
I always wished Norm and others had their own actual news show where they would just lay on everything being reported
Actually, that producer left for ABC shortly after Norm was fired, so......
He got fired because of a personal bias which seems wrong to me! It’s not like everyone else wasn’t thinking the exact same thing about OJ…
Never thought he was funny
Yes, we miss you Norm!!! Great comedian and actor
It seems to be a running theme that certain types of people just _do not understand_ what "Rage Against the Machine" actually means. They're not pissed off at a Xerox machine, Chadley.
Anti capitalism brought to you by the largest record company in the world... They're the phoniest of the phonies
What bothers me about Ashlee Simpson’s scandal is not the mess-up itself, but the way she initially handled it, throwing her band under the bus after they just kept playing and jamming out as Simpson did the walk of shame off stage
There was a lot to all of this. I agree with you, leaving the band on the stage to deal with the situation wasn't smart. I would like you to consider how difficult it is for people to talk or perform in front of a small group. Also, remember, she was a kid in front of an in studio audience as well as being broadcast on live TV.
Exactly!
What she should have done was have them turn off the tape & sung the song she was meant to.
@@dee_dee_place She couldn’t .? That’s the whole point?
@@allisoncastle Obviously, because anyone else would have been able to.
@@dee_dee_place Did you even watch the video? She was sick. That’s why she couldn’t sing. Literally she could not POSSIBLY physically sing. She is a very good singer live normally. I’m gonna assume you didn’t watch the video, so as she says in an interview, she actually went back on SNL for another performance that she DID do live.
The thing I remember the most about Sinead's episode, her song was preceeded by a sketch about censorship.
Ironically, in the repeat Sinead's song was edited out.
Think about that.
It was edited out right after a sketch mocking censorship.
Correction. Thinking back I think they only edited out her photo comment at the end of the song. But the irony remains.
The photo wasn't edited out. The footage in the repeat was from the dress rehearsal.
@@andrewpollard_ Well. Kinda the same thing, no?
Its wild how Sinead was treated. Despite her being right no one has ever publically apologized, not Pesci, not Madonna. She said something no one was saying and effectively sacrificed her career for it. It also calls to mind flack Fiona Apple got during the MTV VMAS for simply telling people to be true to themselves. Something that would be applauded now, but was seen a her being ungrateful for her award then.
HA!
Sinead was 100% right, but we just didn't know it then. 👍
She was right, and many people did know. The problem was not whether she was right or wrong. It was where and how she did it.
She was right
We did know 😊
@@alixander3129if we’re talking about children being raped with impunity there is literally no wrong time or place.
@@Skute Agree to disagree. It didn't change the situation that much at the time and severely affected Lorne Michaels' life work and jeopardize the careers of many. The Catholic church is still hiding, helping and protecting these people.
And before you come at me, I went through these things as a child at a church and from family. I can guarantee there are wrong times to come out about. My whole world was torn apart and the 2 people who loved, helped and supported me the most was ripped out of my life completely for at least 6 months. They had no part in the abuse and no knowledge of it happening.
Rage Against the Machine performs with an upside down American flag at all their shows. It was not specific to the host, or SNL specifically.
The fact that Ashlee Simpson is only number 10 makes me worried about what the rest of the list looks like.
Sinead O’Connor was ahead of her time. Her message was spot on.
I'm surprised Martin Lawrence's monologue from when he hosted wasn't in the list
Having Trump host should be on this list! It's one thing to do a cameo from time to time but having a presidential candidate to host while he/she is running for office should be either banned or at least give the other candidate a chance to host too.
Very fascist of you
@@richardk54 So demanding equal time for political candidates is fascism? How very wrong of you.
Hillary was on too. She played a bartender while Kate McKinnon played Hillary. You can find it on UA-cam 😂
@@Jamietheroadrunner Did she host? No. As Lynne Sin said, "It's one thing to do a cameo from time to time but having a presidential candidate to HOST while he/she is running for office..."
@@lauraatkinson4790 hey, I’m a progressive I’m just sayin. We used to have an equal time law on the books but it was I believe the republicans that got rid of it under Reagan and flooded the radio waves with far right loons, which lead us directly over the years to the extremist Trumpists. SNL however didn’t really help him because he’s a moron that can’t be helped. The only reason we survived him is because he’s so dumb and unstable
Sinead has been vindicated many times over.
What did they expect from a band called Rage Against The Machine?
Chelsea Clinton came out and admitted that the didn’t find the Wayne’s world skit funny or okay after being poked fun at as a kid
Is that why WatchMojo was too cowardly to actually let us hear or see exatctly what Wayne and Garth said?
@@johnanderson9765what they said about a 13 year old child. Why would you want to hear that?
Luckily she turned into a beautiful woman but she was an awkward looking teen😊
Imagine causing controversy because you wished your mother a happy Mother's Day
I thought the O. J. Simpson jokes were hilarious.🤣
I 100% feel like celebrities and athletes are fair game for jokes. You get paid in millions and can't take a joke, that's on you
Who in their right mind thought it would be a good idea to pair Steve Forbes and RATM in the same episode🤦♂️
The producers wanted controversy, obviously, and they got it 😂
People who know good music🙌🏻
That was the thing for me: there's no legitimate way to not expect what happened.
@@Jamietheroadrunner then tries to act outraged when they got exactly what they wanted.
Yeah sometimes I wonder why they pair certain hosts with musical could. Could just be scheduling conflicts and availabilities but Steve Forbes & Rage Against the Machine wasn’t a likely pair.
Was as awkward as Roma Downey with Missy Elliott and Betty White with Jay-Z 😂
This just goes to show, cancel culture has been around for decades, if not centuries.
love Sinead. she was absolutely right and intelligent people knew it.
The Dan Crenshaw thing to me is a little messed up - sure, maybe Pete Davidson was in the wrong for his comment, but SNL's response was to basically give a free political endorsement and publicity.
I remember when SNL had Jesse Jackson as a guest host, and they leaned *heavily* into his political inclinations. I think SNL has a tendency to drift with the political winds, and as the Republican Party has become more dominant in recent years they have tried to be as hands-off as they can with regards to issues with a vague or indefinite context. Heard any jokes lately about Jim Jordan and wrestling? Jordan is a potential gold mine of material all on his own, although that can be said of many the GOP's Sanitarium wing like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul "I might be having a stroke" Gosar.
Sinead wasn't protesting the child molestation scandal, she was protesting the "occupation" of Ireland.
Ye should have been #1.He's a nutcase.
The only scandals I know about were the Ashlee Simpson lip-syncing scandal, Sinead O’Connor ripping up a picture of Pope John, and a host(forget his name) dropping an F-bomb.
That was Kristen Stewart who dropped the F bomb and it was really epic cuz she looked so HOT during her monologue
@@pauldeangelis7481 No, it was during a sketch the host dropped an F-bomb, and his career was somewhat ruined as a result of it.
@@kamsismith Carlie Rocket was the guy who dropped the F bomb. Jenny Slate did, too.
Charles Ricket, the bad guy from Dumb and Dumber.
It's pretty lousy of Ashlee Simpson to not only lip sync, but to also blame her band for the mishap. Did she ever apologize to the band?
sinead was right
What about Martin Lawrence's monologue?
Right?! Wasn't his about 'ladies; clean your drawers.'😂
Watchmojo already did this exact kind of video several years ago so Martin Lawerence's awkward monologue was included
"Clip one "well done Snead "
How does Ms Mojo not know that Murray and Chase hated each other throughout Caddyshack and wouldnt even film on the same days
It amazes me how much politics have divided us. The feeling that a comedy sketch show is a hotbed for political controversy is ridiculous. It’s supposed to be fun. It’s not a town hall.
Norm MacDonald was the goat
5,000,000 subscribers congratulations MsMojo 🎉🎈🎀🎁🎊🥇✨️🎈
I remember back in they day when I first heard that RATM would be on the show as Steve Forbes.
All of my college classmates had pretty much the same reaction, which was, "What idiot thought that was a good pairing?"
How can you guys bring up Chevy Chase returning to SNL and not mention how he made an insult related to AIDS/HIV about a gay cast member? (Forget his/her name)
Dude: Happy mothers day
Audience: how dare you
Norm was wrongfully fired
I'm in no way a fan of "The Diceman"... like his comedy was legit Walmart-levels of cheap... but there's no denying that the Mothers Day comment was taken waaay out of proportion. First off, why do people even give a fuck..? Someone who doesn't even know you or your mother indirectly insults her? GET OVER IT. But also, he definitely seems like someone who--above all people in his life--genuinely loves his mama. I truly think the comment was genuine. Just another example (of many) of people assuming a comedian's mindset simply because they're known for a particular style of humor. We do know that these are just characters, right..?
"A technical malfunction"... ROFL No they just played the wrong song on the lip sync... she totally faked it and got BUSTED... lol
What the Hell were they thinking, having Rage Against the Machine and Steve Forbes on during the same week?
Ne yo was lipsnitching too he was just dancing to his song like a recording of his song too
As much as I hate Pete Davidson, the guy sat there at the comedy central roast while people made jokes about his dad dying on 9/11 and nobody asked anybody to apologize.
With situations like Rage, I think they should have the right to do nearly anything they want but the worldwide SNL stage has the choice if they get to do it there.
Chevy Chase is not, nor was he EVER, "one of the premiere figures in the American comedy scene". George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce, sure... Chase is no one without SNL in the first place, but to behave as though he was some kind of famous comedian before SNL or that he went on to anything major afterwards (you could replace him in any of his movies without much difference).
Watch the new fletch and feel very wrong. Lol bitter much
The SNL/Ashlee Simpson lip-synching scandal was lampooned on SNL's then rival show, MAD tv.
I remember watching the episode live and the ironic thing was you could tell Ashlee Simpson was lip syncing during her first performance because the vocals were EXACTLY what we heard on the radio every day. If a singer is actually singing live, you're going to notice any slight difference if any single note is sung differently, is flat or held out. So it's funny that you can watch her perform that first number and know it was lip syncing...and then she comes out to do the second number and is immediately busted for attempting to lip sync when the wrong song starts playing.
Adrian brody just did a bad joke and stich because he was told do then it got bad lash. Some other do bad jokes all the time and on snl all the time.
The crazy thing about the Morgan Wallen situation is that after he finally appeared on the show, he later did the same thing again; this time also throwing around the N-word…but then his album sales went _up_ afterwards.
White supremacy informs U.S. capitalism. Morgan Wallen is seen as a victim of cancel culture all the while he perpetuates systemic racism by claiming free speech. Ant-racist speech isn't protected when it should be.
This could’ve easily been a top 20; granted, this same list is done a few times a year.
Sinead O'connor was right everything.
The idea SOME politicians can dictate who can and can't be made fun of is sickening. THIS IS A FREE SOCIETY and FREE SPEECH is the rule. Even if in "bad taste"... but NO ONE should be "off limits" cuz of POLITICAL ties/reasons.
What about the Canteen Boy skit
But Sinéad O'Connor was telling the truth..
Surprised you didn't add them making a "sketch" about the Try Guys controversy
Chelsea Clinton looks like Howdy Doody
No
I rushed out the next morning and bought her new CD.
I do think Sinead was right, but I remember a tv sketch where they interviewed a fake pope and at the end he teared a picture of Sinead in half. Had me in stitches 🤣
Sinead was Right!
Bill marray is always in some mess smh
Honestly, the Ashlee Simpson thing is so overblown. Ye, she blamed her band, which wasn't cool, but to ruin her career over it? Like wtf?
I’m the 106
Ok
Who is here after SNL made fun of GOP rep. Elise Stefanik? 💀
They make people lip sync i probably would have just gone with that firstly instead of throwing them under the bus
Rage against the machine 😂
How much are those guys worth and how much did they charge for tickets for their last tour? 😂😂🖕🏻
Why SNL booked Steve Forbes as a guest host is the biggest controversy Who was this guy to be hosting? Hate it when they book non actor as host
There are a couple on here that are TOO important and should be required learning and taught in schools---particularly #2 and #1, along with Pete Davidson's gaffe that seems to have turned into a better end for both. There are so many caveats and points to discuss, that each one could be an entire college level course.
Does anyone think that Adrien Brody thing was the beginning of a long and nightmarish over-reaction - or was it appropriately bashed? Guess I should watch it. OK I just watched it. Pretty bad. Not a great idea.
GOD BLESS EVERYONE❤
GO RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE‼️✊
And O'Conner was right.
You all need to apologize to Shane Gillis.
Sinead was not the scandal. The Catholic Church was and still is.
People get offended way too easily. SMH
Honestly who besides me came here for the thumbnail?
*Googles Steve Forbes*
Ashley Simpson never had a voice 🤫
Dear god it's SNL, it's not supposed to be taken seriously. Grow up people.
🤦🤦🤦
😮 not cool
A one-eyed monster talking about civil discourse HA.
How did we become a nation of snowflakes?
First
Kanye has always been bat crap crazy, but it wasn't until this moment that 90% of the country started to suddenly have a problem with him...
If you're there to sing, just sing. I don't care what your opinions are, that's not why you're paid to be there. So in that I see and support the issues with him, Sinead, and RATM. But it's funny that this was when the majority turned on Kanye.
The day that we can't imitate anyone's 'accent' is indeed a dark day. Everybody mimics another accent or language someone has. It'snot 'appropriation'..it's copying. Can't even speak in a fake accent anymore huh? What a dying World.
1:14 That's clearly Chloe Fineman... as ever, the SNL understudy.
I destroyed all my Sinead O'Connor cassettes
MissMojo is using the term "Scandal" very loosely......xD
Only a couple on here were "actually" scandals. The rest was SNL being too liberal.....
I couldn't stand the Wayne's World sketches. Always unfunny.
Thankfully, Andrew Dice Clay is still doing shows and appeared in Lady Gaga’s movie A Star Is Born. Take that Nora and O’Conner.
Bada Bing, Bada Boom!
The narrator's voice is so annoying.
I cannot believe she ripped up a picture of the pope. Rage against the machine, okay I get but the pope... come on
It was to protest the child sexual abuse that was going on in the Catholic Church at the time.
Why do you get disrespecting the American Flag though?
I mean as much as hanging it upside down is considered disrespectful lol
🙄🙄 Now that I think about it, it’s actually a pretty corny thing to do. Not a very cool rock band
Ok never mind 😂
@@pauldeangelis7481 Flying the flag upside-down is a sign of distress within the military. They were saying the country was in distress by hanging the flags upside-down. 🤦♀️
The pope was instrumental in covering up the child sex abuse scandal within the Catholic Church by keeping the victims quiet and shuffling around known offenders from one parish to the next where they could - and did - offend again. It boggles my mind that some people aren't aware of that.
@@kriscynical oh ok thank you, I didn’t know that. Lol I thought it wasn’t all that big of a deal to hang it upside down so I realized I had no idea what was going on 😂
Xoxo ✌🏼
I Can’t Put this on my Facebook Page 🥺🥹
