    I see behind you a Ludwig drum advertising. I met Bill Ludwig Jr, at a competition I believe it was in Philadelphia I forget the year but he and I sat through the preliminaries, for several hours together, very interesting man, I played on Ludwig Drums, I purchased a slingerland snare drum back in 1958, they were two of the greatest strong manufacturers in the world at the time. Good friend of mine John Dowling, has passed may he rest in peace, he is the person who developed backsticking, use for the first time in the United States Air Force from quartet, I believe it was in 1960, they took first place judges and audience or in or when they witnessed backsticking for the very first time. John Dowling was there drum instructor at the time with John flowers as one of the, quartet members along with dick filkins, flowers famous with the Buccaneers and Dick filkins famous with archer Musketeers. May they all rest in peace it was a privilege for me to meet with these people and spend time with them. And they all rest in peace. Ps, Billy Cobham, played with, the Long Island sunrises, he was a Tanner drummer he also was a member of the St Albans queensman as a junior Corps when he competed with them. He also beat Rick nardelli top individual snare drummer from the golden knights, he wanted individual snare but he played tenor because he had a reverse grip was not allowed to compete, against traditional rudimental snare drummers.

    what kind of carriers are compatible with this series?

  • @SilverBordered

    Will the snares have the option to have chrome hardware like the Championship series? As well as finishes beyond solid black and white (even if they have to be custom ordered)?

    • @SteveWeissMusic
      @SteveWeissMusic  9 місяців тому

      Currently these are available with aluminum hardware only, and available in the two finishes shown in the video (white and black)

    Are the snare drums able to withstand kevlar heads at high-tension?

    I've been considering buying a set of Pearl quads for a while now but I have a question. When my high school bought some nearly 20 years ago, the spock drums were drilled so the spocks were about two inches lower than the remaining drums. Is this still the case for Pearl drums or are they level with the remaining drums (as they appear to be in this video)? Also does Pearl now sell 6/8/10/12/13/14 setups, or would I have to buy a set of 6/10/12/13/14 and attach an 8 in spock separately?

      They offer both configurations, and their mounting hardware helps keep things in place and level!

    So will these drums equal in price as their sister lines or cost a little less. Also, are the carriers easy to contour to the body or are there any other carriers that could be used with this line?

    • @SteveWeissMusic
      @SteveWeissMusic  11 місяців тому

      they are slotted between championship and competitor - here is the snare on our site for cost reference www.steveweissmusic.com/product/pearl-finalist-marching-snare-drum/marching-snare-drums

    They need to make all series of tenors with the mid cut shells. When Blue Devils used Pearl, the mid cut tenors were the best around. The look and the sound. Ive always hated the deep, 70s looking depth of their tenors and the weird, square shape at the bottom of the shell....
