    Thank you for the advice on a cheap easel that I could use anywhere,probably my back veranda.😊

    Such a great idea! I am going to screw a metal plate under my desktop easel and tap a 1/4 UNC thread in it so I can screw it straight onto the tripod adapter. Thanks for sharing the concept 👍

      Yes that’s the same principle indeed so this will work and maybe turn out to be even more sturdy! Glad this was helpful 😊🙏🏻

    I love your simple solution. I never thought the tripod plate could hold on to the pochade so well.

      Thank you so much! I think that with time one should check on the glue regularly because it inevitably will crumble, but I had no issues for the whole forst year!

      Thank you so much - this hack helped me save a lot of money at a time when I needed it, so I’m glad it can be useful for others as well 😊

      This must follow under the saying "Great minds think alike". I am going to start plein air painting this summer, and bought a similar desk top easel on Amazon USA site. My son put a small piece of wood on bottom to attach the tee nut. I also bought a driving wheel tray, per another UA-camr's suggestion, and with adjustable clamps on tripod legs, I now have a shelf as well for $10 USD versus $50 USD. Thank you for posting this. It shows with a little bit of ingenuity, we all can enjoy being creative. 😊

      Haha well sometimes getting creative doesn’t only apply for the pieces we create but also for the art supplies, right?😅 great idea for the extra attachment!! Unfortunately I’m less of a handyman to go beyon the simpliest stuff but I def. could’ve used an extra piece of wood underneath as well🙈

    Nice plan. I have something similar ! Can the Georgian Mountboard be used for Acrylic ?

      @NinfaFluidaGallery  Рік тому

      Thank you! Would love to hear your take on this DIY project! Mh, I haven’t tried that but my guess would be that it should work if you paint on special coated paper for instance or cardboard - anything that is both thick enough for acrylic but thin enough to go under the mountboard.

    • @NinfaFluidaGallery
      @NinfaFluidaGallery  Рік тому

      and by « go under the mountboard » I actually mean « fit into a frame together with the mountboard » 😅

      @@NinfaFluidaGallery Thanks - I actually wanted to know if the surface you are using oils on can also be used for acrylics. The Georgian product is known by Daler Rowney as 'Mountboard.

    Did you have any problems taking oil paint through Customs at the airport- flammable paint ? I presume you bought solvent ( turpentine) while in Scotland?

    • @NinfaFluidaGallery
      @NinfaFluidaGallery  Рік тому +1

      I always take the ferry to go to the UK because I have a dog so there is no issue with the paint tubes but I didn't want to risk it with the turpentine so this I purchased locally in Edinburgh. Sorry I couldn't be of more help on that topic...

    does the tripod plate come with the triopod? Thank you

    • @NinfaFluidaGallery
      @NinfaFluidaGallery  Рік тому

      Hello Monica! The cheaper tripods do normally come with a tripod plate. I stress that it is most often the case, but not always - so it’s important to check the description of the article before buying. The more expensive tripods are often sold separately from the tripod plates because they offer different sizes. :)

    I have to say, standing alone in a forest painting can get a bit unnerving at times. I think it's when you get absorbed in your subject, ignoring the rest of the forest around you... you hear a twig snap somewhere behind you.... then all you want to do is pack your gear and get out fast 😁.

    • @johnkanzler6646

      I got used to it, and found i could “read” the conversation of forest sounds in time. What counted as an alarming anomaly became less frequent, then nonexistant 🙂 Forest sounds are sooo soothing. humans really stand out like a sore thumb, noise-wise. A dog walker in the distance will easily cut through the wind-rustled leaves surrounding you. We are so bad at stealth!! 🤣

      Hahaha, yes, some places can get a little spooky, I must admit! 😅 Especially in the evening the imagination tends to run away with me a little bit! Later on the same trip we got a flat tire at 11 pm in the middle of the Lakes, the car was completely beached in the bog as well, so impossible to lift it up to change the tire and we had to walk 15km in the middle of the night to the next town to get cell reception 😵‍💫 This was honestly one of the scariest moments of my life 😅

    Solution for brush that’s too long…cut off the end just enough to make it fit, then sand it smooth.

      My brushes are my babies :D but I must admit that it's a very practical solution!

    That little drawer is too small to be of any value whatsoever!! The best hack for plein air: two cradled paint boards connected by torsion hinges plus tripod plate; lower serves as palette; upper serves as support for your panel/canvas with lightweight clamps and back cradled side doubles as a wet canvas carrier. Easy peasy, you're in business!!
