  • In this video we will carefully inspect a really nice 1965 Blackface Fender Super Reverb and perform the necessary repairs to ensure great tone and reliability. Afterwards, we will perform a lengthy audio test to verify the success of the repairs. In addition, we will visit Ollie in her new home, open a great gift package, paint a zombie-resistant fence, and get a visit from Jack himself.
The Part 2 video is a detailed circuit comparison of Blackface and Silverface Super Reverbs, including the evolution of the circuit and how to get BF tone from a SF circuit.....and save a fortune.

Doug, in the middle to late 60s Fender came out with a copy of the Super Reverb that included four 10-inch JBL speakers. One came into the local shop where I was taking guitar lessons and a legendary guitarist by the name of Skeets McWilliams sat down and played it . At some point he stopped playing and just decided to test. Got-o-mighty that thing would get loud and maintain its clarity and cleanliness at all volumes. It was amazing

I believe that Uncle Doug could take a crack at Stephen Hawkings "A brief history of time" and make it understandable. What a gifted teacher.!!!

Totally riveting video. Between you,Mr.Carlson's Lab and D-Lab Electronics there are no equals in the knowledge expressed when it comes to amplifier electronics. Steve

From Leo: For those control face dents, I use a 5/16" carriage bolt and nut pulling against a 3/8 drive socket. (Like you do when you drag wheel studs into an old hub) Pick the socket size where any scratching is under the knob skirt. Works great and you can go a little at a time. Merry Christmas.

Perfect. It's Sunday morning and the wife and kids are still asleep. True peace, with a lesson from Uncle Doug.

Was fascinated by your video even before you brought Creedence into it! That is most definitely the best use of a great amp. Best wishes, Doug x

That may be the best sounding (to my ears) Fender I've seen you work on. Incredible tone.

I used to employ an oscillator/tone generator as a musical instrument- typically slathered with echo. Great video !

Few things are as relaxing as Uncle Doug running down an amp and fencing the yard!

🔔🔔😁 Uncle Doug's back since watching all your videos ( over and over ) it has now given me the confidence to start to restore my Vox Ac30 .I've had for over 41 years .first step I built the current limiter .. Ordered all new capacitors and Resistors so far changed C39 and C40 filter capacitors and now no Hum I am only changing what needs changing .I think because I've had the amp all these years I didn't want to send it off to some where for restoration. Because of The anxiety of what's happening to it . Allso still experimenting with my tremolo can .sorry for the long post .but thanks. Stay safe Doug that's all the news from over the pond

The bias probes have become my favorite part of the repair process. Seeing how much bias isn't being used or that it's way too high and you setting the bias for "optimum" performance! Thank you, Unc!! And Merry Christmas!!
