    I was scared my first couple times out at night. Once I got used it I love night sailing. If there is no moonlight it gets sketchy but in a full moon it is glorious! Trust yourself, trust you navigation and trust your boat.

    Could you give a link to your engine temp gauge, and the AIS/radar? TIA!

      Radar reflector you can just search amazon, but it seems the tube type aren't as good - the larger metal ones are better in tests I read. I wanted to ask other boaters if they saw us but I forgot. We removed ours now, maybe we will never use it again as we don't plan on sailing at night in open water or at least after the trip back we're too scared to do that again now.

    I UA-cam sailed for 10 years but when covid hit I decided to learn to sail. Bought a Hobie 16 but quickly outgrew it. Now I sail a Catalina 22 and I absolutely love it. Cheers from Fort Lauderdale 🍻

    John Kretschmer recommends running the jack line down mid-ship. Keep tether short. If you lose balance, you don't go over the sides. I've heard getting back on-board is nearly impossible.

    • @AdventuresInParadise
      @AdventuresInParadise  Рік тому +1

      Yes, I've seen that also... same with towing a line, they say you can't climb back at speed.

    I'm sitting in Key West right now after sailing my catalina 25 down from Ft. Lauderdale! Would love to say hi if the timing matches up. Could also potentially swap onto my mooring ball in Garrison bight, apparently it's rare for spots to come up and I got really lucky yesterday getting a ball.

      @@AdventuresInParadise Not bad at all, the keys and offshore reefs really kept the sea state manageable. I was also pretty selective about sailing days, not on a schedule. Hope you had a good experience!

    Great video I used to have some governmental clients in the Keys and Monroe County. We used to say ; there is the dream of the keys and there is the reality. I know as a general aviation pilot, I hate Key West. The weather is rather unpredictable year round. I also think in your case you have to deal with The Coast Guard and The Key West Naval Air Station as well as some ecological sensitive areas. For any pilots out there, this is an IFR flight plan only in my opinion. Good Luck!

      We've been there many times and in our other boat and loved it. We only live 250 miles from there, as the crow flies or sailboat sails!

    Love the latest video! Some of the things you do reminds me of the crazy stuff we used to get into in your father's garage. I cannot believe he didn't smack our heads together for some of the dumb things we did with his tools. I can't wait to see your video from the trip. BTW, love the studder edits. Some things never change with you! lol.

    What temperature do you have the over heat alarm set for? Its a pretty great idea. I DO have an overheat alarm on my Pearson 27, but its simply a alarm on the panel and no real indication.

      I can't recall, maybe like 200. The instructions say it can be changed but I can't get it to work, it's set where it's set, but it's better than nothing.
