Excellent video thanks for posting. My Airtag was slightly different inside than the one you showed (the little round speaker was mounted in the middle of the chipboard on my one, where on your one it was on the flap that opened), but it still opened exactly the same way your video showed which was the bit I couldn't work out! I just popped the speaker out of the chipboard with the same knife I used to open the airtag.
I just bought some AirTags recently in February 2024. It appears the speaker is no longer like it used to be. I opened mine up and it appears like they’ve changed the hardware to make removal of the speaker more difficult. Can anyone speak to this please?
The speaker looks like a watch battery, it's round, flat and metalic (but it's much smaller than the actual watch battery you took out of the Airtag that power's it). The speaker should be sitting right in the middle of the Airtag's circuit board when you take the airtag apart as per this video, just pop the speaker out with the same box knife you used to open the airtag, it's only held in their magnetically you don't need to break/cut anything.
Questo metodo funziona anche con il modello nuovo di Airtag, ma dopo aver estratto lo speaker si sente comunque un lievissimo suono, risolvibile mettendo l’airtag in un piccolo contenitore isolato acusticamente
I have several of my airtags opened recently, so I am used to cracking them open. Note that there is a tiny pin very near the edge of the plate which fits into a line-it-up hole in the motherboard. The first time I did this, the iPhone detected the airtag and invited me to pair it - but then refused to pair. Next day I tried again and the pairing succeeded. So if at first you don't succeed - don't despair.
I do not want to see anymore of you complaining that you’re breaking the device, I literally got it on my first try with the new design easy I only used one tool it was tweezers for applying eye lashes that my wife uses it has metal ends that are sharp that I used to scrap or the speaker carefully around the glued areas, but this can be easier with a hot gun or blow dryer to melt the glue and it comes right off since it’s magnetic and on the tabs that come off before the speaker you want to poke the marked area where they mark it in the video and slowly go around all the way and the tabs won’t break it just takes patience.
If the thief uses an Android phone, will he receive a notification? Do we agree that it's useful to remove the speakerphone in the event that our object is stolen and the thief has an iPhone?
I'm finding the Airtag is still making sounds after completing this process (it is significantly quieter) hence I suspect this isn't a speaker and likely more of a resonator.
Yes very faint sound got to put the airtag real close to your ear , putting both airtags in my vehicles with alien tape tucked away no one will find these.

Great help but we didn’t need the music as it made it difficult to hear you. Thanks for the tutorial.
Glad we could help

Of course they had to change it. I'm sure someone else made a view on the new ones. It's probably not as easy though...

@@АкылбекТажиев-ъ6д Yeah I'm going to have to buy the new ones and figure this out...

I haven't had any issues with connecting back to air tag after removing speaker, I'm not sure what is going on with that.

No only works with iPhone.@@BaptisteRoche

I'm wondering if it is an updated airtag. I have some new ones I just got, I'm going to look into this and might do a new video once I figure it out.

@@AmeriRentEquipment Hello ! Have you figured this out ? Thank you
Just cut one of the copper wire , did this to mine and it went completely silent
Last week I bought one at the retail store, version 2021. It does not make any sound after removing the speaker. Seek for old versions
Hell yea brother Milwaukee gang 💯💪
Oh Yeah
*Like mama said, “use your words!”*
Funny… despite me removing the speaker… it still beeps lol
Fr mine too
Good idea to edit in the music! Now 99% of the video is missing the sound including where the music was👏🤡
Why not narrate the entire video?
