Here's a tip for ya, with any dried bug debris... soak it. Spray some soapy water on, then lay on some kitchen towel, leave it wet for 10mins and they wipe clean off!
Sure wish could get that brand O paint the tother side of the pond. I know it works. To experiment with something that "may" work would be useless. Flip side....wow, what a huge "thing". Never really noticed how friggen gawdy it is. Now, I too...cannot stop seeing it. Love your systematic approach and stream of what you do. Stay calm and watch Del do his thing. Thx. Love the look now, I confess to have not really noticed it all that much before, and then Bam! "Can't unsee it" is exactly right, hahaha. If I even think about painting a thicker wet look coat, I always get severe drips, sags, and horrible runs. You have a real gift for this, man.

On the Sportster project frame i used 2K paint and it came out beautiful, deep gloss and tough.. ive built the whole bike around it now and not a scratch despite brushing tools and fasteners against it from time to time.. so 2K for sure.. but rattle can paint would maybe be a bit soft..!
I quite liked the sanded look, personally. It would have been interesting if you had temporarily mounted it on the bike after sanding and before the paint, if for no other reason than to have photos of polished vs matte vs painted. I do agree that the black makes it disappear a little into the whole and not draw the eye so severely like it did before. It did stick out like a sore thumb polished :)

Cheers buddy, am always keen on PPE, with the DA Sander it has a vac hose that ffeds through the airline sucing away any residue and, of course, you're sanding bare metal to scratch it up so virtually no residue anyway, maybe just a little debris from the paper itself... thanks for the nudge though, we must all take care of ourselves!
Nice job Del, you're so right about degreasing, you have to be so careful. I deliver to the trade and have heard horror stories about contaminated spray booths having to be fully cleaned with airlines and filters having to be replaced. The strangest culprit I have heard of is a deodorant for contaminating a booth!
@@Moonfleet41 it can stay in the lines and rear it's head again 3 months later. The guys I know say the hardest part of any job is the prep. You're really thorough and meticulous and it pays dividends in the finished product. I love that I always learn something from your uploads.
