- Greg Judy bale unroller with ATV in wet pasture, spreading fertility around the farm. No ruts, feeding 260 head of cattle with a 750 lb atv on a cold winter morning. Check out our books on our website for more info: greenpasturesfarm.net
That is such a great little machine and technique! There's gold in them thar hills!
I find it also depends on how good the hay is, if the bale was baled too green or wet and molds on the inside or has some rot and then it freezes in the winter, it doesn't unroll very well at all. When you purchase bales make sure they aren't hard as leather or else you will be driving from coast to coast to unroll it.
Excellent idea absolutely love it
Thought I was passing a Greg Judy bale unroller on the highway. Turned out to be an electrician. I guess power line rolls are pretty big too.
Daniel Rice - Ha, funny. Those rollers are probably 3x the Price. Or more !
Very nice demo. Ty vm.
It looks like you have to back up perfectly to align the bale center to the spikes. And the bale has to be by itself to pick up. Otherwise I think it beats those unrollers that hook up to 3 point hitch on a tractor. They depend on hydraulics and throw hay all over the back of the tractor. The hydraulics also stress the metal and they usually break over time.
Great video and insights!
Thanks for sharing and telling your story!
Curious if you have any unrollers up here in the "frozen tundra" of Wisconsin or surrounding states of MN/Michigan?
Thanks for all you do GREG!
Lynn, we have tons of winter stockpiled grass grown this fall. We may have enough stockpiled grass to graze the entire winter.
I am building my original bale unroller for sale to folks that want to spread fertility around their farm with an ATV.
You are able to stockpile enough grass for the entire winter? Do you look to have weigh gain on your animals or just that they maintain their weight during the winter?
@Proactive Prosperity Its available now !
The unrolling looks great! Is it that less heavier bales unroll not that well or is it the way how the bales are made? When I unroll, it always looks to me as if a too big part comes of at the beginning...
Greg, looks great! Could you shoot a video showing the step by step as you hook it up to a bale and hoist it?
How can we go about getting one of these. I'm in South Carolina do you have dealers or are you shipping them from where you are in what's the approximate cost?
I would like to see that was well, please.
@@annwithaplan9766 He has done video recently . search hay/bale unroller Greg Judy
How is your grass now? Do you expect heavier use of Hay this year?
Hey 👋
NECESSITY - The Mother of INVENTION
Do you build a 4 foot model?
What price?
David in Indianapolis
Do you have web site with info?
Where can we buy this? It makes sooo much sense. We have 140 head in south Louisiana. Mud is a big problem.
We sell them at our farm in Missouri.
Hi Greg, I'm just curious as to what kind of hay you use and at what maturity? I'll take a wild guess and say anything under 10% protein?
ranges from 8-14%
@@davelawson2564 any reason for it to be higher than 10% It would seem like a bit of a waste?
do you mind if we share on our facebook page?
Go for it!
I can guarantee that’s not an 1800lb bale... unless it was rolled wet, and then it would be rotten. We have a John Deere 569 baler and roll them 66in tall, throw them in a mixer that has a scale and I’ve never seen a bale over 1500lb, and it’s rare to see one over 1400, most are between 1250-1350lb.
Hayrings make me sad for the farmer and the animals and the land. Unrolling should be required rather than optional.
