Hehehe... Would be very cool to meet you, finally! There are so many gorgeous places from where you are right now to where we are. Philippines, Sulawesi, Raja Ampat, Sunda Islands... or the other way - Sabah, Anambas Islands, Tioman, Belitung, then? You're going to have a ball. Just make sure your engine is in tip top form as there is a lot of motoring around the Equator and along the southern Indonesian islands! 🙏🤓👌 Liz (and 'im)
It is a great gift to find these places even if the pizza is only so-so. But what makes Asahan authentic is that the pizza is substandard by our western standards. When in Lombok (¡Ojala!) I'll definitely look up the Nautilus! Great video, guys!
Glad you guys made it to Asahan, Nautilus is owned by a dear friend. I'll let them know about your pizza experience, i think they'll retrain that staff. They also have an italian restaurant in Bali, very nice authentic taste. Have to try if you decide to make land here! Never knew of the Lombok Villas, thanks for that tip.
Yes, it was a little disappointing. I'm not sure if the waiter was trying to be funny, but he came across as bored by the whole idea of serving at a table. It was a shame, because we almost never have this kind of experience, especially in Indonesia. Maybe we caught them on an off day! Liz

Thanks, Mike. I'm not sure I agree with your comments on pizza! We prefer the Italian style thin crust pizza to the American deep pan. The best pizzas I've ever had were in Turkey and Peru, and recently we were served up a pizza that was inedible. Yes, even I couldn't finish it! But now that I know you appreciate the pizza reports I shall endeavour to include them in future episodes 😁
Wow, your real life knowledge of this area is next to zero (as in the politics that go on behind the scenes) the evil resort you reported on, has done more than you could even know to support the local people of this island. P.S. l lived there for over 2 years and know most of the people you have met. But in saying that, I am super happy you have not told every random sailor or social influencer just how good this place really is. No doubt you went to the restaurant on the good Pizza chiefs day off (unlucky, but everyone needs a break sometime ). Its a tiny island with low volume tourism and they do and amazing job of running it so well.

We were pleased to see the island has not become like the Gilis in the north. The balance between tourism and maintaining local integrity is spot on.
