Your video was recommended to me in my course and I just watched this first one. I'll definitely be watching more. So informative, but I also LOVE your enthusiasm!! Very engaging! Thanks. :)

Visuals are great for many students. However, how do you support students with visual impairments? I have watched a number of your presentations about inclusion, and the one group that is overlooked is students who are blind or have visual impairments.

Hi Kendra! Good question. Using objects are really important for students with visual impairments. I have included a link to object schedules in the notes!

Freak'n hate board maker! A zillion little signs, strips, and schedules ALL OVER the place! It's not the magic bullet of support. You know how many kids I've seen eat, destroy, and throw away those stupid little pictures because it seems to just trigger them? They need to be used in moderation, they need to be purposeful, the images need to be relatable, they need to be close (not 15 feet away on a wall competing with a dozen other images). I like to draw pictures, use photos of their own stuff, transition objects, write lists, gesture & use sign language. Save an EA: turn off the laminator, put away the velcro, rings and wrist coils, and consider all the many, many types of visuals for your school.
