I’m doing one now on a G2. I opened the exsisting hole in the casing to allow more oil to get into pinion pilot bearing. The majority of the hole is covered by side bearing.
So if your yoke has play chances are it’s the pinion bearing that’s gone? But if that’s the case your suggesting no point in just changing the pinion bearing as chances are that the pinion is seated/worn now on the large gear and by replacing the pinion bearing may just cause the diff to make noise? Currently the diff makes no noise just there is some up/down play on the yoke going into the diff (u-joint is good).

I picked up the press last year. Don't know why I waited so long to get one. It's been one of my best tools. I've smashed and destroyed so many bearings over the years and with this press. Everything is a piece of cake.

HarbourDawg ATV get the kit from Mud N wheels... they actually correct Can Am on the mistakes they’ve made with their rear diffs and drive shafts... great guys and stand behind their work.
Mines a 2013 Outlander 500xt with carrier bearings. Not ball bearings. Would it be okay to put ball bearings in or is that new thing they start putting in them?
Do you pack the bearings with grease?
dear Frankie, ... why this gear is named "differential" when in fact is only a simple transmission gear ?? is it any model of real differential mechanism on Can - Am for the rear transmission?
hello my rear differential makes a real sound like wa wa wa intermittently when driving faster than 35km / h outlander 570 max 2018god crossed 4000km, is that normal, i saw a lot can am with similar noise, i had outlander 450 2015year with 9000km and made the same noise and everything was fine, what do you think about that ...
Frankie, I bought a 2018 can-am outlander max last July, and not long after riding, I began hearing an out-of-round sound coming from the rear. It only makes the noise under tourque. I took it back to the dealer, and they told me they don't fix noise problems. Whatever! Then somebody told me to drain the fluid and drive it til it breaks! (Not sure about that either.) Anyway, are you familiar enough with these G2 differentials to guess at what could be causing the out-of-round noise? At slow speeds it feels like the atv is rocking back and forth.
Is this your first Can Am? I ask because it's normal to have some gear whining and clunking noise from the drivetrain. I wouldn't worry about it if you still have warranty. If it's almost up. Then you can take your chances and try blowing the diff like others have mentioned. If it was me, I would pull the diff out and inspect it closely. Check driveshaft and make sure it's not out of phase. Once you split the diff open you will know if there is damage or not. If it's to big of a job for you then I suggest keep an eye on the input shaft seal. That's usually the first sign of diff going bad.

Thanks Frankie, and yes, this is my first Can-am. I have owned Honda ATVs prior, but as you may know, Honda does not make 2 seater ATVs, and so, I bought the Outlander Max, but I am having a tough time getting use to the Can-am drive-train. Lucky for me, I have a two year warranty and got it new last July. I changed the fluid in the rear diff, around 400 miles and what drained was very dark, like it was under stress, but, I am concerned about working on it myself because I may void the warranty. Any way, I am very grateful for you advice. Take care.

Sup bud quick question my needle bearing pretty much got destroyed and I rented the puller but it ain’t coming out how did you get the one you showed destroyed out thanks in advanced!
Yup it's a pain when they don't want to come out easily. I went through it too. You can try soaking it with liquid wrench, maybe apply some heat or get small pick and lightly tap and fold in the sides. Not my favorite choice but it has to come out somehow. I just went out and bought a better tool instead of the slide hammer one.

Ya I didn't have the puller at the time of making the video or I would of shown it. Even with the puller it didn't come out easy.
